@nickthelick Blame Linehan. It probably would've just got a standard "dated presentation" disclaimer thing at the start if he hadn't started a mental Crusade online and made it an issue. There's a LOT of worse representations that still get regular repeats with no issues at all, but Linehan has made the whole thing into nuclear waste that nobody wants to go anywhere near, and I don't blame them.
He knew he would do it himself and his option were window or gun. He wrote the note much earlier ad would have destroyed it if he used the gun. It's perfectly logical

I didn’t think they’d ever be able to replace Denholm after he jumped out of the office window over irregularities with the pension fund. It’s pretty rare that a replacement matches up to the original, and when Douglas made his dramatic entrance at the funeral I thought “oh shit, they’re trying too hard.” But it turns out they knew exactly what they were doing, with this macho, self-centred, shallow, feckless, tyrannical, unstable, ignorant, loud mouthed, ultra-sexist, borderline insane character. Matt blends these qualities and portrays them to perfection, It works brilliantly.
Pure ridiculousness seems to be very difficult to pull off effectively without going too far. The best comedies, the ones I love and rewatch are those that crank the absurdity right up to the edge and balance there perfectly. IT crowd, Mr Bean, Monty Python, Zoolander, Southpark, Malcom in the Middle. Its great when you have a relatively mundane world or otherwise normal set of characters to truly contrast the mad ones against.

I had never heard of Matt Berry until he was cast in the upcoming What We Do in the Shadows TV show. Watching this video makes me realize how much I have been missing out on.
I like how his suit makes his arm look like it's bending backwards when he points at the dead flies. Further proof he is in fact, an otherworldly being who knows what he's talking about.
He just delivers lines perfectly. One of my favorites (wasn't in this video) is when he's talking to the reporter: Reporter: "aren't there rumors that you killed your wife?" Douglas: "There were rumors were rumors, but THAT was just bullshit!" His delivery is everything, that line alone isn't super funny but he makes it so good.
