  • In this video we travel over the new extension to Slivenec where we see complete new towns/suburbs under construction. Clearly the city is putting other city's to shame with this policy of putting public transport at the centre of planning for the future. Prague's tram network is impressive.
We ride a tram with a “Wow” factor normally reserved for iconic sports cars, the Tatra T3 Coupé turns heads in a city where trams both modern and traditional are a common sight. The T3 tram has been an integral part of the Prague cityscape for over half a century and Prague Public Transit Co got together with Studio Anna Marešová to create a sightseeing tram that celebrated the T3 in Prague, the result of this collaboration was the stunning T3 Coupé, combining the very best of sixties design with a contemporary, stylish all white interior.
Prague's first horse drawn tram line was opened in 1875, and the first electric tram ran in 1891. Today’s network is over 150 kms and it is served by a sizeable fleet of in excess of 882 tram vehicles. This video starts at Florenc / Těšnov with trip to Slivenec over the extension opened in 2003 between Hlubočepy and Sídliště Barrandov followed by a run over the latest extension to Slivenec. After a short break at Slivenec we board the tram for a run back through the city to the tram museum and depot at Střešovice where we take a look around before finally retiring to the station pub at Praha-Braník to watch first generation “Goggles” diesel locomotives in action

I think the government & good folk of Prague are really proud of there wonderful tram network & beautiful city 150 km & probably still growing, Sydney's old network was 291 km until the stupid gov of the day closed it down in the mid 60's, I believe London's network was even bigger in it's heyday? thanks Tim for another wonderful journey cheers Bob from a very cold Sydney 13c.🌬☂🚊🚉🛤☕🫖

Hello Bob, Prague’s tram network is impressive, trams run regularly and they are well used. I don't know much about Sydney's old tram network, but I am aware of the stupidity of many British city councils in getting rid of their tram networks in the 50's and 60's. With all its pollution problems one has to wonder about the metal health of the morons who closed London's tram system and underground mail rail. London with all its political correctness and mainly foreign born population is an embarrassment to the rest of the country. The English language, Cockneys, Rhyming Slang, Pearly Kings and Queens, along with British History have all been consigned to the scrap heap in the name of Woke. It's warm wet and windy here on the UK's South Coast today.

Thanks Tim. The tram line only went as far as Barrandov last time I looked! Saw you were at Praha Branik - the local line beyond there up the Vltava and Sazava rivers is lovely, especially up the Sazava gorge - sit on the river side!. Best wishes.

I'm impressed with the Prague tram network and it's good to see extensions being added. Thanks for the heads up about the rail routes following the Vltava and Sazava rivers, something to consider on my next visit. Cheers. Tim.

Hello Tim! If you look closely, a tram driver needs pretty strong nerves. Car drivers aren't exactly squeamish when a tram comes along👌. Nice trip in the town. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.

Hello Hans, as someone who is not used to trams, I feel very vulnerable around them, they are quiet and accelerate dangerously fast. I guess when you live with them, you get used to making allowances for them. Cheers. Tim.

Witaj, Tim. Na ulicach nie ma ludzi. Na ulicach są pojazdy. Ludzie wysiadają z pojazdów albo wsiadają do pojazdów.

Prague is built on the banks of the Vltava River, being in the centre of Europe the city has been affected and influence by a number of invaders almost since the start of time. It was a nice trip showing many aspects of the city, it's certainly a nice place to visit.

Spustíte-li video mým odkazem, několik minut uvidíte po levé straně most se spoustou aut. Teď se tam jezdí normálně, ale ještě v 90. letech, kdy nebyla tahle tramvaj a zejména dálniční obchvat Prahy (celý není zdaleka hotový dodnes) to bylo pro řidiče dobré cvičení na rozjíždění do kopce, protože tudy jezdil kompletní tranzit včetně desítek tisíc kamiónů denně a cesta nahoru trvala klidně 20 minut popojíždění do kopce.
Díváte-li se z tramvaje vpravo a máte opravdu štěstí, uvidíte tohle: mapy.cz/turisticka?source=base&id=2528248&sourcep=foto&idp=6001206&x=14.3961843&y=50.0374691&z=17&ovl=2.

Too bad the sound isn't original. The T3 Coupe is a T3R.P type tram with IGBT armament. The sound in the video resembles the TV8 armament with GTO thyristors.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I was hoping to get away with the sound swap, the all-female crew driving and looking after our tour group on this trip talked a lot and I might have caused them embarrassment if I'd broadcast their otherwise private conversations to the world. I've replaced speech with music in the past and that went down like a lead balloon. I searched through my videos to find a suitable video to extract a soundtrack from. This was the donor video - th-cam.com/video/Z6WaQYbf1wk/w-d-xo.html I hope you can forgive me for the fake soundtrack.

@@Timsvideochannel1 Okay, I understand your decision. But it's a shame, Prague Transport Company strictly prohibits similar video recordings from drivers here. They pointlessly refer to the GDPR, but in other CZ cities it is no problem. If you have the original footage somewhere, I'd appreciate it.

@@daktrok1Hi, this is a video taken from the same tram 4 years earlier with the original soundtrack th-cam.com/video/w1rpmoQtxfY/w-d-xo.html Sadly the camera was close to a windscreen demisting vent and that is really all you can hear. Prague has an excellent tram network, it would be nice if the tram operating company worked with one of their drivers or managers to produce a series of videos covering the whole network, I'm sure such videos would be very popular. I did edit this latest video with the original soundtrack, I sent it to a friend in Prague to listen to and he advised me not to release it with the original soundtrack because it would cause embarrassment. If I return I'll mount the camera on the outside of the windscreen, clear of the wipers if I can obtain permission to do so.

I had to check if this comment was a sci-fi buzzword salad reference I didn't get or if you were really talking trams.
I gotta say that this phrase
"The T3 Coupe is a T3R.P type with IGBT armament. That one sounds like a TV8 with GTO thyristors."
sounds like something Han would say to Chewy while they are sneaking around avoiding stormtroopers.

@@onionhead1308 Hi, glad you enjoyed the video. The original soundtrack was dominated by the conversations of the lovely all girl crew who were driving the tram as well as serving food and drinks. The original soundtrack might have caused some embarrassment so I used sounds from a different video rather than using music.
