    Love this car! Have it in silver and it’s one of the most reliable cars I’ve owned, oil and brakes all that needed changing, butter smooth transmission, rides smoother than new AMG’s 0-60 still arrives in around 6 sec, first 4 matic AMG, it’s a towing beast and sounds great

    Because of the “55” in the ML55, I’m hearing Sammy Hagar’s signature song “I Can’t Drive 55” playing to this hot AMG.

    Love it. Just didn’t like feeling like driving a “bulldog” imo so I chose a 210 E55 instead.

    I drove the ML 430 for years and I found its power and delivery to be plentiful! I had imagine what it’s like to own and drive the ML 55! I bet it really is a joy

    I went with the 500 which is only a touch slower but it rides much nicer, the W163 got a lot of hate for fit and finish but they will run till the end of time and take abuse like it’s a workout over something that’s hard.

    • @tonychavez2083
      @tonychavez2083 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have a very solid chassis and drivetrain and 500 is probably the best all around in terms of ride, fuel economy and more than adequate engine torque. Interior trims and fit and finish left a lot to be desired. We had 2 so I remember very clearly. Switch gear was sourced from Mexico and other countries . Not the typical suppliers.

      @@tonychavez2083 yes they were the first Mercedes to be built with on demand with out of the factory supplies that other people built for Mercedes which is where some of the “touch and feel quality issues” arose. Honestly if you don’t look at the ML from an American view of Mercedes it was designed and executed well since Mercedes designed it to be a sort of farm truck so they wanted things that would take abuse well over feeling nice. I would agree on the 500 being the best all around although my 2 320s smoke my 500 on fuel they can pull 24-25mpg on 87 on the freeway while the 500 gets 24 on 91, and the 320s get 19 in city with the 500 getting 16.

      @@ivanrmz8624 I suppose it depends on what model year you have. I remember the early 1997 model year had rollover issues and very poor build quality. I think the M-Class was the first Mercedes-Benz built in their Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant. It took them a few years to work out all of the build quality issues.

    • @gedaman
      @gedaman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ivanrmz8624 I’ll never forget when the original M-Class was in Lost World: Jurassic Park. I really wanted an ML 55 AMG in maroon when I was a teenager. The only downside I can think of is the slight resemblance in the rear to the Dodge Caravan.
