I've seen and enjoyed your videos. This one was excellent and very educational . Great job in informing the public about this threat to hunting for future generations. Good luck
Found you video while researching planning a travel hunt next spring. Sounds like it is a rough go to find decent hunting area. Is it like this on other islands as well? I love the big island vibe and was hoping for it to be the destination. Keep up the fight I can see both sides with trying to keep native species and limiting the non natives but it sounds like it is a valuable resource for the community. Hopefully some common equal ground has been found.
Very well presented. Organization of hunters for conservation of game species need to show our side of the story. How much does the island profit from out of state hunters? Guides? Just Parker Ranch alone.. the eradication will simply invite something else to move in. Very well done Ryan.
Ryan, this is a very clear message of what is going on, but what is the driving goal behind this mandate? I was unable to hunt on my last trip to the big island, as the plans fell through. But i did get to see a lot of game on my faux hunt. Is there over grazing or significant displacement of native animals?
Hey bru, great video. You posted that one a fairly long time ago, has the hunting gotten worse since then? Please post an updated video for us. I stay Oahu, I am looking to move to big island but hunting is a huge part of my life. Mahalo.
Thank you for the video. We are on the bi and cannot find a public spot that is accessible or feasible. I support your fight and also support hunting in hawaii
Well done. You really know your stuff! I appreciate the effort you put into this video. I wonder what involvement the Wild Sheep Foundation has in Hawaii?
I am absolutely aware. NZ hunters would have much in common with Hawaii. I hope to hunt NZ one day before they enviros wipe everything off your islands. The extreme environmentalist movement is only growing unfortunately for resource users.
Aloha Ryan ~ after watching your video & also seeing first hand the abundance of wild game near Hale Pohaku as we drove from the Waikoloa way/turn onto Daniel Inoye road ~ both my husband & I was just taken ~ in reading the eradication bill signed by our mayor it really angered me, as a little girl learning how to hunt on the slopes of Mauna Kea for wolf long sheep, pig & bird hunting for food for our Ohana & all the Parker Ranch Ohana ~ there has to be an alternative & the hunters to have more access & also to provide food via slaughter houses meat markets etc. I did read that there is a portable slaughter house company that will be coming to Moku O Keawe ~ somehow some way this has to change ~ we are all connected ~ a suggestion ~ have you gone to hale Pohaku to speak with the protectors ~ we highly recommend you go & introduce yourself, speak with Kahookahi ~ a plus to join with the concept of conservation ~ I'm on Facebook & if you need an introduction to Kahookahi we would be more then happy yo help.... Cookie Gaspar I will indeed look you up. This video is nothing compared to the obstacles I've faced and watched others face. I only simply identified the problem here, but I do have solutions. More to come later.
Brandon Damasco that frustration is totally understandable Brandon. However, I would encourage you to keep up with the hunting license. Losing it would only hurt our community more than help it. It is the only "user-pay" system the department truly has organized to some extent. Not the greatest, yes. But it is the only legitimacy we as sportsmen in Hawaii have at the moment.
its despicable. we need to organize to breed and release mouflon to all areas of the island. this will benefit the island in so many ways you dont even know. it needs to happen
Awesome video Ryan! It's great to see some an objective look into the actual number. Thank you for all of your hard work over the years.

most of the lawmakers on the big island don't hunt and they barely walk.
Thanks Ryan I got your 6
Oh my, what a play on words by the politician. How has this panned out since then? This anti-hunter attitude is creeping further into Alaska as well.
This makes me not want to pay for my hawaii state hunting license anymore... Makes me wonder where all the money is going
