I spent July 4th (midway thru 2 weeks) aboard my ship, USCGC Campbell, tied up at Coco Solo NAS in 1956. The things I remember most about that time were the 110% humidity - 100 degree daytime temps - the 3 PM torrential rains everyday that lasted 45 minutes followed by the steam rising from the teak decks. I am reliving those days thru you guys. Thanks. Wonderful videos. The Old Coastie.
Hi Guys, so glad you've made it back to the boat. You definitely have some good vlogging skills, I really enjoyed that video and can't wait for more, thanks again, Steve
I just found you all; and grate job editing. I will follow you all. And I want to say thank you for making my life better. John The Limo Driver in Kansas city
+John Maddux (John T) happy to share some of our happiness. I wish I could show you a view of these islands...in future videos if we can figure out how to upload way out here.
I've missed you guys being on the boat. Good to see you back in the saddle again. 10 months! Wow. Time flies when you're working on a WS32. Mine is almost ready to splash. :D
+William Leavy Im often detail oriented, lol...you need to be in order to do things right for off the grid living way out here. Thanks for stopping by.
I've really enjoyed your RV tour around the country. You reminded me how beautiful it is. But I think you guys are back where you really belong. Hope you are able to get the boat in the water soon. Good luck.
Isn't the country just beautiful! I was blown away by all the sites. We are so excited to be back at the boat. We really enjoy this lifestyle. The boat is going in the water on FRIDAY!
+Brian Logan Your welcome. Hopefully the 60fps is looking better than the 30fps of the previous series. We can't watch our own videos online here (too much data) to tell.
Great video guys! We just purchased a Lagoon 440 and plan to follow in your footsteps in the next few years. Meanwhile, you have our support! Look forward to following you and wishing you the very best. Dan and Sophia
+Dan Rawitch Hi Dan and Sophia! We JUST got internet after not having it for 10 days. Not sure how long we'll have it for. Thank you SO much for your support:) the Lagoons 40ish are really nice. We've been on many cats. You are going to LOVE cruising. We are in the swimming pool area of San Blas and are spending our days exploring the water, Tate is spearfishing and we are meeting new people and connecting with old ones. We have some really cool videos coming up but not sure when they can be uploaded. We are mailing home a couple to upload. Email us anytime. Where is your Cat?
So glad there were no suprises on the boat! Digi cell worked very well for data in the San Blas. Hope you have better luck figuring out the set up and top off procedures since it is all in Spanish. Sometimes that thing would eat data up even if we hadn't used it with the phone turned off and everything. Friends had good luck with the online credit card top off feature which can be done in english. There is a huge old trimaran ( I could find the name and email if you want it) in your area that has all the directions in english they are big on the nets.
+svbluehighway It's all very confusing isn't it? We have sim cards for Claro, Digicel and +Movil...Claro is the only one that works at the marina but the top up procedures are confusing. We have the spa but so far have had people back home with internet fill us up (then we PayPal them back). Hopefully we'll get it worked out. We came this time with an unlocked phone so that helps though you can easily buy them here.
You're back aboard! This is so cool! Good that Tate is still young. A few months ago I carried the three batteries off our boat to test them, and I managed to pull something. Just getting over it. Never try to pull an 8D out of the boat by yourself! Can't wait to see where you guys go from here. What are your plans?
+Sail Before Sunset Yes and we are splashing Today! Pulling a muscle really stinks. I've dealt with a pulled back muscle for years (comes and goes) and a severe golfers elbow for about 18 months though I've nursed the elbow back to health back in the rv being on the boat is hard on joints so I'm trying not to trinity it. Thankfully Tate does most of the heavy lifting now. Sorry to hear about your back. I use wooden roller called the "ma roller". Amazon sells a few different kind for around $28. It has changed my life. You roll on the floor with it and it massages your back. I've tried so many different things and it works the best hands down. Try to look for it.
+Sail Before Sunset in sorry. We are headed to San Blas next week hopefully for another few months of fishing and reef swimming, with a few guests coming on board before we arrange Panama Canal transit and...cross the Pacific!
Sundowner Sails Again Thanks for the advice, and I'll look for the ma roller. San Blas looks beautiful. I'm sure you'll take lots of views and take us along for the ride. Looking forward to seeing you two splash and recommissioning of your vessel!
+Kevin Baerg We use a Canon G7X and go pro hero 3+ both filming in 1080 at 60fps. We hope to continue but our last video took almost a whole day to upload! We might have to sacrifice some quality or have big gaps in uploads, as in mailing video on usb sticks to home for upload. Your thoughts?
Sundowner Sails Again, Wow - a whole day! Well, maybe there is some middle ground as I'm sure your audience doesn't want big gaps in uploads. I appreciate the quality, but that takes too long to upload in my humble opinion. Great job though!
+Kevin Baerg it's just out here where we are anchored. But...we are often way out somewhere. We'll try to find some middle ground. The Pacific might take us 40 days, lol.
+Ivan Kishov I spent about $150 on dvds ($3 each about). I think the terrabyte storage (has to be solid state on a boat) would cost too much alone. Plus we'd still have to buy the movies or take the time to find pirated copies but really ww didnt have the time. We had a bunch of electronic movies but decided this time around we'd rather have movies we actually picked and not what was given to us. We love tips though so throw anything else our way.
Sundowner Sails Again boat rocking will not hurt HDD, plus it does not take additional physical space on a shelf when you add movies and tv shows, Just saying.
Just found you guys today, subd. Did you say it was the first time you had seen the boat, or was it just had not seen it in sometime while you were back in the states? I'm also a Gulf Coast resident, Pensacola, currently living in Beijing China working on restaurants. My wife and I are saving for our boat as well.....it's a grind as you know, but we are committed to a life on the water. I hope another year here working like a dog and we can get home, buy a boat, refit, rent the house out and chase the sun. Please keep up the videos, it's so encouraging and motivating for us. Thanks for letting us come along.
+Marty Handley Hi Marty. It was the first time we'd seen her in ten months since we put her on the hard to do an rc trip across the U.S.. We bought Sundowner in 2010, did a 5 year complete overhaul and in Jan 2015 we sailed her out of New Orleans and spent that year in the Western Caribbean. I bet China is amazing. Tate would like to sail there but it's hard to get clearance.I
+nyyght7 at Panamarina it was $300 for our 32 foot boat. We were right at the minumum. I think its about $9 a foot per month for safe and gated security. Now...It's like a tropical swampy jungke here with half the year producing monsoons and temps that can reach into the 90 with near 100% humidity. But we would do again and lots of boats do it here every year. You are really close here to beautiful islands with the Panama Canal right there.
+Sundowner Sails Again I totally enjoy your videos.. But have to admit, in my opinion the segments are much better when you use the natural background sounds rather than the disco music @10:59
+nyyght7 Hey there. Thanks so much for the feedback. We'll try to lessen the music and voice clashing in the future videos. You arent the first one to mention it. :)

+John J Cox III It can be rough while going through it but it is funny how you look back later and say, "What a time!" Thanks for your service.
Welcome Back to Sundowner Tate and Dani, been following you forever, back in the blogging days! ready to follow the new vlog adventure! Cheers!
+Tommy Campbell Thanks Tommy, we hope you enjoy. Our hope is to do a mix of blog and vlog.
Small world, I am originally from Lafayette and was excited to see this come up on my TH-cam feed. Safe travels.
+Steve Breaux oh yeah? I (Dani) grew up in Ponchatoula and Tate mostly around Iota and Baton Rouge. I bet you don't miss the humidity!
Hi Guys, so glad you've made it back to the boat. You definitely have some good vlogging skills, I really enjoyed that video and can't wait for more, thanks again, Steve
+Steve Houck thanks for the kind comment:) We are excited to be back but have been BUSY...still very busy, and a bit hot and sticky, lol.
Glad ya'll made it back to the boat, keep us updated.
+jwrappuhn71 will do. Nice win the other day
I just found you all; and grate job editing. I will follow you all. And I want to say thank you for making my life better.

I love all of the details. I am a chicago Lake Michigan live aboard. I learn so much from you guys. Safe travels.
+William Leavy Im often detail oriented, lol...you need to be in order to do things right for off the grid living way out here. Thanks for stopping by.
Great to see you will be back on the water. Just a few jobs to make It ship shape and shine.
+499PUCK exactly, she needs a good wash down!

Nice! Grew up there. I like the opener. Port bello
+John Frank I love seeing the old fort and cannons. My mind drifts totje old days of pirates!
Just subscribed and looking forward to catching up on your videos and future adventures.

How exciting you are back with your boating adventures! The video quality has gone thru the roof! What gear are you using now? Such clarity!

+DowntubeCrank very short afraid, lol.
What John G said. Subd and liked. Awesome.
+420lse Thanks:) It's beautiful out here, we are happy we can share it with you.
Congratulations, looking forward to the next chapter. Looks like sundowner needs some tlc!
Thank you! Sundowner needs a good scrubbing in the salt water (water is expensive to use at the marina) and she'll be just as she was.
Thumbs up before watching the video! :-)Great seeing you two back at the boat.
Gosh are we happy as well to get back! Great to hear from you:)
for movies I think its cheaper to get couple of 4tb external HDDs and save it there and watch it with smart tv or smart dvd or smart usb reader

salt air nukes them pretty quick. i work on a ship for a living. lucky to get a year in most cases
Cody McMillan maybe, then an SSD is the best way, I left the discs in the past and happy to be without it.
I picked up a 2tb ssd 4 years ago. Just watched a show off it today

+legend343 hi! Welcome to our channel.
+Sundowner Sails Again
As a reference, I am curious as to the approximate cost of storing Sundowner per month in Panama?
Thanks and good sailing.

can you use the boom as a Crain to lifting things on the boat?
+Joseph Lashley YES! We used the boom to winch our new engine in place in 2011.

I watch videos on TH-cam and vlogers say the information is in the description below . There is no description below. Ever !
+zzzx xzzz What did we miss? What info are you looking for?
Subscribed! Love the Westsail 32. Best boat EVER.
+Russ Clark Welcome. We LOVE our boat. This one has quite a history and you can feel the soul in the wood.
Agreed
Dani and Tate, what did you use to do for work before you bought the boat and rv?
+david romero Dani was a cost control budget manager for large scale construction projects. I was a database guy for an online political advocacy firm.
Would have been better as a 5 minute video. HTH...if you want suggestions?
Crime there watch out.
+alphasxsignal we've always felt safe where we travel. More so than in the States to be honest.
The driver that you use in Panama ? Is there a phone number to reach him?
+zzzx xzzz hi, Emilio Lau phone +50766167531 . Hes incredible. He helped us a lot more after this video.
