Welcome to the Third Time Around Ranch. After living in the country most of our lives we still felt like something was wrong. We kept talking about getting back to the basics of life and taking care of ourselves like our great grandparents did. So instead of depending on stores for everything, we bought some land in Alabama where we intend to build debt free on a fixed income and become as self sufficient as we possibly can. We are happy to have you join us as we carve out a new way of life for ourselves and our youngest son.
We would love to hear from you, you can leave us a comment or if you'd rather we love to receive mail.

I hope you will continue to show us your traditional cooking. It’s better than watching all those world famous chefs . Also your traditional attire and lifestyle are so wholesome , healthy and peaceful. It’s very soothing watching your videos . And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.

Just a note: the microphone is on the front of the camera. For us to hear you talking you need to be on the front or to the side of the camera, or wear a microphone that clips to the front of your shirt.

Sorry was too busy watching your crazy dog!! LOL!! But in all fairness...sweet potatoes are pretty hardy...should be able to grow in any condition and in any soil and anywhere on this planet really!! P.S....enjoy that egg!! LOL!!

Maybe we didn't dig down far enough to find the potatoes. We really need a tractor!

@@michaelkoon8371 That's ok, if you hit the notification bell you'll get notified when I put out a new video. Sometimes youtube messes with your notifications and you have to reset them.

You need to add manure and perhaps plant a cover crop that you can cut down and mix in.

Hey and good morning, your sweet potatoes look pretty good from where I'm sitting. My wife and I live in Central Alabama and we have had the worst time with growing any potatoes. Fire ants eat most of the crop and ruin the potatoes and we end up feeding them to the chickens and pigs ,any we do get. Your extremely lucky to have received rain we are long do for a good rain here its been very very dry. How do you address the fire ants ,do you poison😂😂

We don't use any poison near the garden. Mostly we ignore the ants because they just keep coming back. BUT a couple years ago we put down a granual that you spread all over your property (Extinguish Plus) and it did work, we just haven't gotten around to doing it again.

Maybe mixing down mulch from the chipper can gradually, loosen up the soil.

That's a good idea, I don't think it would hurt anything to try.
