You were single handed responsible for me buying and planting dahlias this year and what a reward! They have just started booming and my garden is just magical with color. Thank you so much for the first Swan Island tour as I am truly hooked on these gorgeous flowers now. God had a good day when he created dahlias.
Aww Gail!! That made my whole week! Thank you so much. It’s amazing how these flowers move us in a way others don’t. I caught myself so many times just stopping and looking at them, I felt so much ease. Is there a favorite you have right now?
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia Not all of my dahlias have bloomed yet so each one that blooms for the first time is my favorites for the day! I do love the large white blooms of "Fleural" a lot however. I immediately placed an order from Swan Island after viewing the tour and got "Mikayla Miranda" plus quite a few more with the free shipping on $75 or more, 10% off and a free dahlia. What a deal! So excited for next year in my garden!!! Loved the tour. Thank you Claudia
I know this is a year old but I just stumbled upon it and I just wanted to leave a comment and hope you see it. This was a fantastic video. Great questions, great answers, and the tour was awesome! I have never been able to make it to Swan island, but your video was almost as good as being there.
Hi Polly! I am so happy you found my channel and you were able to enjoy this tour from your home. It’s so rewarding sharing these spaces with you guys, it truly brings me so much joy that you all love them as much as I do. 💕
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia I went and ordered another order of dahlia for next 2022 with most of your recommendations. Seeing them on video is much better then on paper or still photos. Thank you.
This is probably the best dahlia video I have ever seen! So helpful to get to see so many varieties in real life! I can see all the work you did in videotaping and editing. Thank you so much. Great job! 🥰
Aww, thank you so much. It’s definitely hard sometimes, especially when we’re both feeling strongly about something. But the smooch callout works every time to ease any situation. 🥰
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia think I need to try that with my husband..we don't agree much but a "safe" word would be nice to remind us why we decided to get married to begin with.
Aww, I’m so happy you enjoyed this video. I try to capture a lot of footage without getting to overboard. There was so much I wanted to show you guys this year. They’ve started their tuber sale, and we will be doing a giveaway like we did this year so keep an eye for that. 🥰
Oof, had the website open On another tab with this video playing, and any flower you showed that caught my eye, I added to the cart. Yeah imma have to pare that back down, I don't have 300 dollars to spend on flowers right now haha 😂
Lol!!! You’re my type of people! 😂 It’s like, do I need eat good this week, or is it time for ramen diet so I can buy more flowers. 😆 I’m glad you enjoyed all of these, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite ones that I ordered this year for the season so keep an eye out for that video, there’s some good ones.
Great video!! I just subscribed to your channel. I live on the East Coast, but plan to order from Swan Island now. You did a great job at showing the varieties in real bloom, so much better than a catalog!! I'm ordering based on your video...look forward to more of your tours!
This is Beautiful I ended up burning my food Am glad that got some in my Africa garden and uk 🇬🇧 Didn't know that they are over 100 types,I only have 3types 🤭 😳 😅 🤔
Oh that makes me happy to hear. 🥰 Is there one you are especially excited for? Im sure your grandma grew some beautiful ones herself. ❤️ A big reason my heart belongs to flowers also stems from my grandma. I feel lucky that I still get to share some of the beauty that we grow ourselves in our garden. She lives in Brazil, but I am still able to walk in the garden and show her everything.
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia I'm most excited for Diva and All Triumph. I'd been looking for a white cactus type Dahlias for a long time. I also love the burgundy/purple colored Dahlias.
Not really, if so maybe by a couple of weeks. I think if you can get them in the ground earlier it shouldn’t make a difference. In the end, you end up with more blooms and a more robust plant so I think it’s worth it.
Aww thanks Peggy!! I never intended to be gone for this long. We did take like a week off but then we had major issues with our computer. But I will never take this much time off again, next time if there is an issue with my computer I am just buying a new one LOL.
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia When you take into account time spent on it and time lost making your videos, a new computer is just part of the cost of building your channel/business 👩🌾👍
That is so true, I can’t even tell you how much we spent in film equipment, it’s crazy but in the end worth it. I just got this IMac so I was just frustrated the video card wasn’t working the way it’s supposed to be. Either way, I’m happy Apple helped, hopefully it doesn’t start acting up again. On a happier note, I’m jumping to your channel to catch up, how are things down there?
I HAD to drive over from Corvallis the second weekend they opened. It was everything I imagined and more!! Can't wait to put in my dahlia order for next spring! 🌸
Awww yay!!! Isn’t it breath taking!? They started their tuber sale, so if there’s ones you love don’t wait too long. Ah I’m excited you’re here and you got to experience their farm. 😍
Oooh!! That sounds like so much fun! I would make sure to fertilize every 4 weeks or so, with something like Morbloom, and give them a lot of light. Cut blooms back to continue promoting more blooms. Make sure not to over water, dahlias don’t like wet feet, but they also don’t want to go dry.
Thank you for the tour! I thought about buying from Swan Island but couldn't decide on varieties. You gave me a nudge I needed lol. Dahlias are the best! ✌️
Hi Mary! They are can, make sure they have good drainage. I recommend you reference my other dahlia videos, I've talked about growing them in containers as well. 🥰
Hi Annie I’ve never heard of that before. 🤔 I would definitely reach out to them ASAP. I usually have really good response rate when I email them. I don’t think I’ve seen that before so that’s odd. Let me know if there’s anything I can help with but like I said they’re pretty responsive to their emails.
Old post, but maybe it will help someone else in the future. Swan island charges 39.95 for shipping to Canada and there is a $50 phyto agricultural inspection fee required with international shipping. There are loads of canadian tuber sellers that you could order from that wouldn’t have the same ag inspection requirements. You may not get all the variety available at swan island, but you would save on the cost. Another thing you could do is put together a neighborhood dahlia buying group where you could order together and share in those shipping and inspection costs. 🌸

Question about pinching. Does it no delay flowering? I mean in colder climates it might be a problem.
