I could listen to you talk about dahlias ALL DAY!! I can’t wait until you start selling tubers! I’ll be your first customer! Kudos to the cameraman! Serge? Not sure how to spell his name! Nice video!❤❤
Aww thank you so much, this made my day! I read your comment to Sergey and he was so happy. He’s always worried about not doing a good job filming when I need him, this was a nice boost for him. 🥰
I'm also watching from South Africa!!!!! I lost 7 dahlias last year. At the time, I heard how many dahlias Claudia lost in her other video! I said to myself, " Hey, you lost nothing!" I felt so motivated, and I immediately ordered more dahlias for this year.
Great walkthrough, especially with your POV on the growth habits and colour changes etc. to help with selecting my next tubers. I’m always disappointed in at least one pick when they grow out so this was so useful!
Aww yay, thank you for the feedback!! I am sharing my top 10 for this week. I refine them every year to wing out the ones that are beautiful but maybe did perform as well or ones that looked completely different in person. 😆
Your dahlias look so lush, neat and healthy from top to bottom, truly amazing 😍 a few notes about varieties from my humble experience: Skipley Moonglow doesn't look like the one to me (mine is very pale yellow, with some pink blush while it opens), Tyrell is probably something else as well (mine looked more shaggy, Labyrinth -like), and the red&yellow one could be Ketchup and Mustard. Thank you for sharing such beauty!
Aww thank you so much Yusuf! 🥰 I truly spend a lot of time with our dahlias and make sure they are healthy. Thank you so much for the insight, anything helps. And am so number about Skipley Moonglow. That was one I was so excited for. 🥹 Regarding Tyrell, I thought the same thing. I tripled checked and it was one I ordered, I believe three of them. It came from a bigger company so I am wondering if it was mislabeled. 🤔
At 38:20 could that be wine eyed pink. There is a variety called Wine Eyed Pink. Your dahlias are amazing and beautiful! I also love your colors, but I also like purple and wines. I live in the south and it is challenging with the heat and humidity, zone 8a! I love Breakout, Mikayla Miranda, Diva, My Forever, Danique, and Color Speckle and Peaches N Cream. I have been bitten by bug as well! I have limited space to grow so I can’t do what you do, so I will just enjoy yours! 🤗❤😊🥰
Aww thanks Cheri!!! You could be right about that one being Wine Eyed Pink! I’m going to observe her more, thank you so much for the feedback back. 🥰 I know what it’s like to want to continue growing more dahlias, there are days where I just wanna rip out the grass and plant Dahlia there too lol. For now, I will keep planting them tight until I have more space. Also, all of the ones you called out are beautiful, I especially love Mikayla’s Miranda! She is an early bloomer and the purple/white combo is perfection! 🥰
I’m pretty much obsessed with your dahlias 😂 They look absolutely stunning!! You must have some really good soil in your beds. And it’s gotta be partly just all the love you give them 😊💕
Aww thanks Misty!! They definitely love their soil, I amend every year with compost which I know they love. And they definitely reward me after I give them so much love. 😆

I’m am new to the Dahlia obsession and I also didn’t like them when I grew them at first. It must be some strange phenomena! I will definitely be a Dahlia geek in the years to come. 🌸🌸🌸
Lol right! It was the funniest thing the first year I grew dahlias I wasn’t impressed and I was just like OK they’re pretty but nothing special. And then that next year I finally got my hands on Cafe au Lait and that first time I saw that bloom I was immediately in love and there was just no turning back..😍
I have a few places I’ve been liking this year. I ordered from River Merle Farms, Sweet Bloom Farms, Flower a Farm, and Flower Well Ny. I also buy from local growers at nurseries here and some from Dans Dahlias at the NWFGS. 🥰
Beautiful dahlias. I have been growing them for 2 years. How do u fight fungus? I live in a region where we have summer rains. I have tried everything. Nothing seems to work. Ur foliage is breathtaking.
Aww thank you!! It doesn’t become an issue until towards the end of the season for us. One of the things I tried this year is Sulfur Plant Fungicide from Bonide and I think it did a really nice job. I mix it in water and spray the foliage. Try that next year and see if that works. 🥰
Ohh thank you Stephanie! All of our dahlias are on drip. I typically do a deep water every couple of days, about 30 minutes. On days that it gets really hot I may up the water, ever so a little over head watering to cool them down. 🥰
@@InTheGardenWithClaudiaOh I see. So dahlias most likely need their own zone for drip then since it’s such deep watering? Guess I need more than 2 dahlias then 🤪
I would, but if they are in the landscape I try to plant them further away from the drip line so they aren't being watered everyday fi that makes sense.
Your dahlias are all so gorgeous and healthy! Would love a video on what you use to keep them that way and how you keep your soil healthy. Mine are spaced far apart, and all have powdery mildew 😒 I'm in South Carolina 8a. We did have a wet summer this year after 100° days, so I'm sure that didn't help. Great video Claudia, and Sergey did a nice job on filming.
Aww thanks!! I am here to help and encourage you. It’s been a hot summer, it’s been a weird year for dahlias. I have several videos on hoeing dahlias you can reference, I think this one may be a good start. th-cam.com/video/NLSYBtPm928/w-d-xo.htmlsi=A0RuaQZDhCfTCCkB I think the most important things to consider is plant them in a well drained soil, water them every couple of days once they begin growing, make sure it’s a deep watering, and I like to fertilize mine more often when we have long stretches of heat waves to help them. 🥰
My Tyrell came up bright highlighter yellow. I had it last year & it was gorgeous (same tubers, so not an error) I hope it’s just an early season weirdness & it will revert to it’s beautiful colours when our evenings cool down.
Isn’t that so funny! I have a few varieties that I know are correctly labeled but they look two times darker or lighter than what they are suppose to! It’s the oddest things this year. 🤔
