- So far, the highlight of our 2021 road trip in Southern Thailand is when we slept in a home stay on the Pak Phanang River in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. We didn't know this province has so much Chinese and Muslim influence. So, what kind of food is popular here? We tried the most popular breakfast franchise in the city! Bak kut teh in the direct Hokkien dialect translation means meat bone tea. A very spice enriched herbal broth. Depending on how its prepared, you either get the soy sauce colored broth or the slightly lighter colored broth. I personally love the blackened broth. And the meat, pork is the necessary standard because some places, they substitute it with chicken which makes the taste totally off. Glad you're enjoying yourselves over there. The village looks so serene. ❤️

Out of gas, we'd still be okay. Out of gas AND out of phone battery? Then we'd be in trouble 😂 Grandpa's house was lovely.. they kept it tidy and simple. There's definitely more to explore in that area called Pak Phanang.

We’re glad you were able to add a few places to your list! We only stayed in Nakhon for two nights. We feel like we need to go back, there’s still a lot to explore 😍 maybe stay in Khanom for a few nights too!
@@FloraandNote If you decide to stay in Khanom go for "Khanom Espresso" - So delicious coffee. We always stay at 'Baan Sonmanee' very simple but cosy place right at the Beach - lovely people there... Have fun.

Yeah, the Pa dong go must dip in the Bak Kut Teh soup. It is so yummy. In Malaysia, most of us do the same. As you know our pa dong go here is the long one like what we have in HK, then we slice it into small cube, then dip in the soup 🤤🤤🤤
Can't go wrong with dipping it in congee, bak kut teh or soy milk :)

Wow, Note was a monk for three months for his mother! What a good son you are. How old were you when you were a monk? Do you remember any chants you learned while being a monk? Are you practicing any skills you learned, ie meditation?
It was a long time ago! He was only 6 years old. He remembers it was painful walking bare feet on the pebble road and the monk helper had to keep carrying him from the back of the line to the front 😂 The gym is now his temple 😅
