The crossover episode we all needed! I didn't really care for the last-gen Type R but this one has me raising my eyebrows. I'm into it.

@@JonHop1 That detail is on unethical dealerships and idiots with more money than brains, not Honda. Yes, there are people out there who will pay a $25k markup on a super Civic, and greedy dealers know this..it wont be me.
The new R should have the drive
mode buttons and rev match button on the steering wheel, a real hand brake, an adjustable loud exhaust, and a DCT with over boost option, all which the Veloster N and Elantra N have. Oh and not be marked up $25k.
Tedward is that back seat driver that we all actually want
really love this new Type R. back to the classic, clean style. its such a shame you wont be able to touch this for under $50k from a dealer. way too much for a Civic.
Give it some time and prices will calm down, just gotta be patient and plenty of dealers will eventually sell at MSRP.

@@ShaiyanHossain I would get EK9 Type R if I could. I just prefer 2 door because it just looks more sporty, shorter and makes for a lighter and rigid structure for cornering. FN2 is great too

People who complain about the aesthetic of the tablet on the dash don't realize that integrating the screen into the dash, no matter how well you do it, makes the dash feel MASSIVE. The new Honda dashboards are fantastic - visually quiet and classy - and they couldn't have done it without the tablet form factor.
right I'd rather have a tacked on looking ipad then some massive dash to try to incorporate it

Sideview mirrors are one of my favorite things about this car, from a visual perspective. Awesome to look at during the POV and seem like they provide ample sight without sacrificing front visibility, since there is a small gap between them and the A-pilar. Awesome content with Tedward riding along!

Incredible automobile incredible driving. I'm pretty sure you would've pushed more if the conditions were better and you were solo. I still rewatch the Civic Si canyon drive. Tedward is wise and awesome as always.

It's great that Honda put the infotainment screen on top of the dash in the line of sight (like Mazda). Now they need control and volume knobs next to the shifter and directly underneath your right hand (like Mazda) so you don't have to reach up to the screen, hit the wrong button when there's a bump, and put fingerprint smudges all over the screen.

You don't need to disconnect the module. The piped in sound is already off in Comfort. For sport mode, use Individual mode with Sport settings in everything except for engine sound, which you should leave in Comfort. Problem solved.

Love the new Type R. Here in the UK the Type R comes with the alcantara steering wheel as standard. However the Type R is the only petrol model sold in the UK market. The Civic, Jazz, CRV and HRV only comes as a hybrid and also the Honda E which is electric.
Thank you for this review. I still drive my 2010 Honda Si and the paint may be chipping off and I'm encouraged constantly by people who don't know to "get a new car". They have no idea how much fun it is to drive. Someone at prompto last week said, " let me know when you want sell that car [to him]" even in it's old, bashed up state I thought, "they'd have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands". So ya. I like Honda!

I couldn’t imagine but I put weight in your guys’ thoughts. Thanks for an enjoyable review.
It's of course totally different but the idea I'm trying to get across is that this is an incredibly involving, rewarding, and joyful experience. And I usually only feel that way after a drive in something like the Lotus
@@TedwardDrives How do you find this against the 2022 WRX in terms of driving experience? A lot of people like the WRX's driving dynamics, but people seem to be loving the Type R's driving dynamics in comparison. Having said that, I know there is a good price tag difference between the two. Thank you for the future response.
@@Danter5435 two different cars ngl, WRX is first of all cheaper, probably more comfortable and more friendly in the real world while the civic type r is a toy where its exciting beautifully engineered but probably not all that in real life.

being a driver of an EP3 i got really used to the shifter that is very close to the wheel...the next generations of civics made the distance significantly longer, but as cars in general they get better and better despite the fact that they left the hot hatch category and they got... into the hatch-coupe :/
