So what would you recommend for someone who is buying a VR for the first time? A 128 gig or a 256 gig what is the difference? Is it just the ability to store more games on the headset?
Just used this over the weekend. If you have no VR at all, this is great, no contest in price. Played Alyx a bunch on WiFi using the 3rd party Virtual Desktop software (the included AirLink was very unstable for Alyx). The headset NEEDS 5 GHz wifi to be in the room with you for a smooth experience, and I suggest an external battery pack strapped to your arm for extra longevity. IMO this is very good at this price, I'll be getting one 2nd hand when I get the chance, for extra savings.
Just bought a 256gb quest 2 on eBay for 100 cad. It came with no controllers but since my family still has their old quest 2 I can use those controllers no problem. Bought an elite strap for 30 and a cooling fan for 30 as well. I’d say for 160 cad (120 usd) it’s an insane deal.
I was checking these out at target today. But, I wanted to see what the requirements were. I heard facebook (maybe not) and a meta quest account? Why do I need a metaquest account to use an item I paid 250.00 for? Is the money not enough? They need my personal info too? Anyone know the correct answer? I just went through this BS with HP.... bought a printer and guess what? It won't work unless I'm online.... If it requires the net I won't buy it... simple...
How long do you think the Quest 2 is going to he supported? I'm considering buying my first VR headset but longevity is a concern since im way too late to the quest 2
Figuring that Quest 2 was actually the best selling headset during the holiday season by a pretty large margin and theres over 20+ million Quest 2's in the wild I'm going to guess a while. Also don't forget Quest 2 is also a PCVR headset so you can use it for PCVR games even if Quest2 begins to lose support games. But I would guess at least 2 years . As someone who upgraded from a Quest 2 to Quest 3 I recommend either. If money is an issue Quest 2 is a great deal at $250. It feels like a steal. Quest 3 however is better in every way possible. Also if you want to do the "Spatial Computing" similar to the apple vision Pro, Quest 3 does it alot better than the Quest 2 due to the far superior color passthrough. So if you have the money Quest 3 is better.
Its the best selling VR headset by a wide margin. I imagine they'll support it until 2026-2027 at least but it'll be struggling by 2027, and the Quest 4 would theoretically be out on the market around that time. It'll be obsolete and too 'weak' for those newer experiences coming in the late 2020's.
got my quest 2 a few years ago I watched a video of some guy on gorilla tag safe to say after that video had ended I went to the store then I was setting it up 30min later and on the game in 1 hour lol best thing I ever did.
Well I would not make that claim and I never had any other Quest product till now. I own a Quest 3 and enjoy it very much. Some people may find getting the Quest 2 only because it is cheaper. I wanted the more processor power, better quality lenses, wider sweet spot, etc. and as more games come out, they will be more graphically better for the Quest 3. Another question is how long will Meta support the Quest 2 with them coming out with a Quest 3 lite version of VR. It is the Quest 3 for me, thank you.
I got a Oculus Go for $40 at a Goodwill and was amazed at how far VR has come. My last VR experience was the Google VR that came with a Pixel phone. I was amazed at the smoothness. Enough that I decided to go for a Quest 2. Hopefully the upgrade will be just as noticeable from the GO. I also have a Aokzoe A1 Pro that might be a cool combination. Maybe in a couple years I can upgrade to the Quest 3 but right now the price tag is just too hefty. I was surprised that I could use the GO with no problems as my wandering eye problem really made VR on the Google VR setup very problematic.
had a quest 2 since it was called the oculus quest 2 and seeing the head strap white while mine is yellowing and greening out into perspective how much me and my siblings have been using this headset
@@HotshotTek ok cool so for sure wait for the Lite instead of getting the Q2? rumors say the Lite won’t have removable straps so idk if i would still be able to extend the battery life w/ an additional battery. that’s my only concern also don’t know it will be >$250.
I Just bought a Used Quest 2 for my kid, I have Rx lenses and a huge IPD, It was taking a long time to change the setup and I am pretty particular about how my controllers are handled, So he got his own. I have been impressed by it. I am connecting it to a PC, the only app other than updates is steam link. That said after some initial jitter it seems pretty smooth, The pass through works but has about a 1/4 sec lag. My kid is very happy. I don't think the meta experience is super polished(It's a cell phone GPU) But my PC GPU is! I have had to provide less info than I had thought to Meta. Overall I think if you are willing to Part with ~$150 used, This could be a wonderful entry to PCVR. The strap sucks, get a Kiwi. Wireless setup is literally steam link, super easy. Battery life is Meh on the headset, like 90--105 minutes so consider a battery built for the headset or PD3 works.
I thinkk I might wait for a year until a inevitable price drop hits, cause Meta will eventually release a Quest 3 slim, and when that happens the regular quest 3 will become null and void to some people, and when that happens buyers guilt will hit the consumers and after market sellers, which will be great pickins for a price as low as 200
I’ve notice this month they are fully gone even from the refurbished sites almost like the were pulled from the shelves as places that had them the day before didn’t the next day.
I’m considering upgrading from the original Rift. I just don’t feel like setting everything up anymore. At half the price Quest 2 seems like a no brainer, but of course I’m still weighing on if it’s smarter to go with the most current edition.
Going from rift to quest 2 is pretty big. its a great headset but quest 3 is better in every way possible. includding pcvr. quest 3 supporting wifi 6e makes a prettybig difference doing wireless pcvr. the lens makes a huge difference aswell. its so clear on quest 3. quest 2 is still really nice and u will see a night and day difference. ditching the sensor of the rift alone makes worth it. resolutilnnis way higher than rift as well
Is it worth getting for someone who’s not into gaming? I’m mainly interested in thrill of the fight for cardio but I’m just curious of many out there use it for non gaming? Thanks! :)
I gave this thing a try and it's okay but the quality is no better than the one they released their technology in for the galaxy s7 and s8 when Samsung had the technology in their headsets. I'm in a cab right now taking it back to Best Buy because it made me feel so dizzy and disoriented and I'm will feeling a slight not that way. I couldn't even handle finish playing a game I was playing. The first free game they offer was okay because you just sit there and do puzzles. It's a cute game but not for me.
I want the MQ2 & MQ3 owners to play & work together, not to be in competition. We're all family! BTW, i have the same headstrap for my MQ3 as your MQ2 one 😊😊😊

There's a vocal (hardcore) minority that are always pushing for better performance. Whether it be smart phones, video game consoles, automobiles, etc., for the majority of people, "good enough" is good enough. I used to be one of those hardcore people. I had to have the most powerful gaming hardware, the best phone, etc. but now I'm just happy to enjoy the experience, even if it isn't top of the line. So I'm happy with my Quest 2.
@HotshotTek. 1st I want to say that I really like the Quest 2 Skin on your headset. So much so, I ordered one on Etsy 👍🏻. So here is a question about visual quality. I really enjoy the Brink Traveler app on my Q2. The only downside is the visual quality is not as sharp and clear as I would like. Have you used this app and how does the image quality stack up on a Quest 3 vs the Quest 2? Is the visual image quality about the same?
its not the same. if you're using Brink Traveler on the Quest 3, you’ll enjoy clearer visuals and more immersive environments than on the Quest 2. i just want to give you more game recommendations, because i just reeeally addicted to play the game is Freeland
@@faymah20 Hello there. I actually purchased and started using the Quest 3 last week. You are 100 % correct. Brink Traveler does (indeed) look better. Even Real VR Fishing shows better detail at distant looking scenery.

I got an Elite strap from WaveVR with a 5000mAH battery on it, That connects to the back making no weight on the side, I got the Quest 2 to see what VR is like as I do Sim Racing, When I tried teh PSVR I was MEH, Not very good, Only good thing was Dirt Rally in VR, But now, Using teh Quest 2 in Dirt Rally 2 have blown my mind so to speak, I am wishing now I got the Quest 3 though for the Sim Racing, The Pancake lens is meant to be better, So I will use the Quest 2 until Xmas time when the Quest 3 drops in price, As the Stand alone part of VR is a lot better with the Quest 3, But will there be a Quest 4 by the time Xmas comes around, I might even look that up, Probably because all the bad things with the Quest 3 will be ironed out with the Quest 4, It won't be long before i9 and 4090 PC power will be in a stand alone headset, That again blows my mind, I am going to try that DJ app, Pioneer one, I am just too broke now after getting the Quest and Elite strap, But for the price of just over 30 pounds the WaveVR Elite battery strap is amazing, I can get over 8 hours of VR Sim Racing with the Link cable connected to the 5000mAH battery strap, I am thinking of getting one with more Battery power, And now you can even get Batteries that go on the side allowing you to use the Link cable, But now VR is improving with PC power as a stand alone, TV's, PC monitors and even things like the Steam Deck will be a non starter so to speak, I bet they will have to update the Steam Deck to run VR, Or make a version of the Steam Deck that is VR ready, That will be next I think, And then VR headsets with GPU power of the 4090, I think is amazing, Revolutionary, Being able to recreate experiments, Operations on people putting in scenarios for training under pressure, So for the Medical world Stand Alone VR is going to change things completely, Isn't that such an amazing thing, Now even people who suffered with horrible life changing strokes, Can help get body movement back in the motor functions of the brain using VR to help the body do that is only going to help VR become more available to people, And with the learning, Putting fun into education by way of doing experiments in VR, The Schools Science class can be run using VR, Geography can be done using VR, With the teacher creating the tasks at hand, Is also educating the teacher, VR sold, lol...... Watch this space in another five to ten years, Sun glasses will be linked to your phone, Creating your own VR sun glasses, lol, Mixed reality is mind bogglingly nuts, lol, I can only imagine what technology the military is playing with in VR, Most training scenarios is probably done it VR... I am going to try Euro Truck 2 now in a bit, But AMS 2 and Dirt Rally 2 is the best Sim Racing games in VR so far for me, I am just hoping now that Dirt Rally 2 is optimized so well for VR and AMS 2 is more Sim Racing games takes time out for VR to be optimized properly, If the Game is great in VR the game will sell more as now the Quest 2 have become available to most, Now so may kids will be getting Quest 2 and 3's for Xmas it would be daft not to get the game running great in VR, VR is the future of Gaming now full stop, It won't be long before VR headsets will have 360 hertz or more...... Yeah I would say to anyone to grab the WaveVR Elite battery strap, It is made for the Quest 2 anyways, It would work on a Quest 3 I would imagine......
@@876SIMSTREAMER At the moment, AMS 2, Dirt Rally 2, And I have been trying Euro Truck 2 as the Sim for relaxing with, But mainly AMS 2, AMS 2 is amazing in VR see.... How about yourself, What is your go to Sim?? Oh and Beam NG as well I can spend a fair few hours on.... Happy Sim'ing.....
It depends on how you are gonna use it.full color passthrough may sound cooler may be nice for first few days but after what are you gonna do with it. If you are gonna use it primarily for full immersion games, doyou need quest 3 really?. Remember that games are not cheap and you may end up not buying any games specifically made for quest 3. If you end up not using the features of quest 3 it is a waste spending that much.
512 GBs is also pretty nice on the quest 3. From 128gbs to 512gbs with an apple product would be a thousand dollar difference. A couple hundred more and you get a decent upgrade in graphical fidelity and comfort. This guy left a lot out. Look at more videos.

I need to, I think it would be fun and lets us test new games and gears.
I just bought the quest 3, I really appreciate the fact that you're always honest about the pros and cons. Thank you for being such a genuine TH-camr and helping people make informed decisions@@HotshotTek
Just got a quest 2 for myself brand new, saqico comfort strap and magnetic charging dock, I'm excited and I think it's really going to work well. Thank you!
I was curious about VR but not enough curious to cash in $500. The huge price drop was, however, an opportunity I couldn't miss.
So what would you recommend for someone who is buying a VR for the first time? A 128 gig or a 256 gig what is the difference? Is it just the ability to store more games on the headset?
Yes, it's just storage capacity. That's the only difference. I personally ordered 256 GB. Can never have too much storage space.
I am considering getting the quest 2 as my first VR console next month, since its affordable and it can par with my pc
If it requires the net I won't buy it... simple...
You just connect ur Facebook account and ur good
There's a very simple reason the Quest 2 is selling better...... its half the price
How long do you think the Quest 2 is going to he supported?
I'm considering buying my first VR headset but longevity is a concern since im way too late to the quest 2
same
Figuring that Quest 2 was actually the best selling headset during the holiday season by a pretty large margin and theres over 20+ million Quest 2's in the wild I'm going to guess a while.
@@illestrated4191 so the 2026-2027 the quest 2 stop supporting?
Meto CTO Andrew Bosworth has promised the Quest 2 will continue to receive updates 3 years past the time the device is taken off the market.

I have broken 6 quest 2 controllers. The index finger trigger keeps breaking and getting stuck. I hope the quest 3 doesnt have this issue.

My little bro got one and I’m new to it. He had it for a year and I love it
got my quest 2 a few years ago I watched a video of some guy on gorilla tag safe to say after that video had ended I went to the store then I was setting it up 30min later and on the game in 1 hour lol best thing I ever did.
I've had a quest 3 sold it went back to the two works just fine
had a quest 2 since it was called the oculus quest 2 and seeing the head strap white while mine is yellowing and greening out into perspective how much me and my siblings have been using this headset
always a rational review 🙌
would you recommend buying a Quest 2 now or wait for the Quest 3 Lite?
Quest 3 lite, but we don’t know when it will be released or will it really come available. It’s unfortunately a gabble.
@@HotshotTek ok cool so for sure wait for the Lite instead of getting the Q2? rumors say the Lite won’t have removable straps so idk if i would still be able to extend the battery life w/ an additional battery. that’s my only concern also don’t know it will be >$250.
@@HotshotTek i heard it comes out between the first quarter to half of this year.

I'd pull the trigger on the Quest 2 now, it's awesome
I just brought 2 quest 2's one with 64gb at £115 and a 128gb at £170 as never used vr before, plan to get a quest 3 down the line 😊
I thinkk I might wait for a year until a inevitable price drop hits, cause Meta will eventually release a Quest 3 slim, and when that happens the regular quest 3 will become null and void to some people, and when that happens buyers guilt will hit the consumers and after market sellers, which will be great pickins for a price as low as 200
I’ve notice this month they are fully gone even from the refurbished sites almost like the were pulled from the shelves as places that had them the day before didn’t the next day.
now the quest 2 is on sale for $199 as of 5/8/24

Lmao I’m just hoping they don’t pull an apple move and start slowing down older sets to force people to buy the new
I’m considering upgrading from the original Rift.
Thanks! :)
how well does wearing glasses work with this product?
10/10
Hi Hotshottek i really like those hexagons on the Oculus quest 2 headset in 0:03
can u tell me when i can buy something like that?
The link is in the description, I also have been looking for that
So i shouldn't buy a quest 3?
I gave this thing a try and it's okay but the quality is no better than the one they released their technology in for the galaxy s7 and s8 when Samsung had the technology in their headsets. I'm in a cab right now taking it back to Best Buy because it made me feel so dizzy and disoriented and I'm will feeling a slight not that way. I couldn't even handle finish playing a game I was playing. The first free game they offer was okay because you just sit there and do puzzles. It's a cute game but not for me.
For 500$
You are better off buying a ps5 or xbox but hey
It's just a theory, a game theory

Definitely try an get one second hand, they are the same quality but generally a lot cheaper, I bought all the accessories and the headset today for only 130 pounds off Facebook
ok so for a very long time I have been wanting one. Now that I have my own money I want to get but I'm confused of why there is now a quest 3s...is it the same thing. I also saw on ebay that they are selling the quest for VERY cheap prices (120-200)
they are going for 218 on amazon and idk if i should just bite the bullet and get one
I see it for $199 on Walmart with a $50 credit
I am interested in getting one mainly for watching media in vr like TH-cam and maybe some games.
Im trying to get in shape. Now this is $200 th8ink I should grab it +beat saber? Also I wear corrective lenses. Does this make the $200 go out the window?
