The airbending avatar being chosen by which toys he chooses is actually taken from how the Dalai Lama is chosen in real life. The airbending culture takes a lot from Tibetan Buddhism, and monk Gyatso, Aangs mentor is named after the current Dalai Lama who's name is Tenzin Gyatso.

It's almost a fact that no one hates Zuko 😌💝 His father is trash though, by banishing him and saying that he couldn't come back until he captured the Avatar was the equivalent to ordering him "go and bring me an unicorn" it was almost an impossible task because Aang was missing for a century without trace; meaning that he would have been exiled for his entire lifetime without finding him if the show's events had not taken place. Anyway, I'm so glad to know you're into the show, and I enjoy watching your reactions and thoughts on each episode! Thanks 👍
That was the plan all along. He (the firelord) never really liked Zuko. He always felt he was a rubbish kid who was also a weakling. It's very clear to see. So, it didn't surprise me that he did that. He probably felt that Zuko was too incompetent to accomplish the mission, meaning he might never return. So Good Riddance, ig That's why when he redirected the lightning at him... Seeing the Ozai's face was peak satisfaction to me, I swear 😌😂
One of the things I love most about this show is the sheer amount of nuance it portrays. For example, we see in episode 10 that a skilled enough non-bender can absolutely win against a bender. Just having bending abilities isn’t enough to be super powerful, you have to MASTER them. Also, we see in episodes 8, 10 and 12 that just like in real life, not everyone from a specific nation is completely good or evil, no matter how just or tyrannical their ruler. Every individual is different. I love it so much! Looking forward to your next reactions :)
Katara(age 14): *Stop fighting!* (points to Aang who was quiet and ready to just fly over the canyon) *Let the 12 year old settle your 100 year long dispute!* My god...😅

The storm is where the story picks up, and the overall standard of episodes improves. Zuko is genuinely one of the best characters in the show. Everyone needs an uncle Iroh, he's actually the best character XD. The theme of everyone just being people, rather than having clear lines between good and evil, is a common thread through the show, and part of what makes it so good.
Bear in the big blue house? I remember that show! I used to cry every time Bear and Luna sang together, because it was the end of the episode, and I really wanted to stay and keep watching. I wasn't allowed out of the house much, for anything other than school and church. I wasn't allowed to even be in my own back yard without constant supervision.
One of the best things about this IS that you are often uncertain who of the characters is in the right and who is in the wrong. Who is on the side of your favorite character and who isn't. Because people are complex and especially in times of high conflict, they won't always act the same. The Fire Nation may be the 'Bad Guy' in this story, but they are not always a unit. Same goes for the 'Good guys', not all of them are necessarily nice, despite being against the Fire Nation. Thank you for reading, I just think it's one of the most amazing part of this storytelling and wanted to share :)
I was having such a bad day, found out I'm being verbally/emotionally abused (a friend managed to convince me with a link and me reading over/highlighting what is true for me) nearly highlighted the whole page. Now I'm in slight denial. But this is making me laugh so thank you.

I can see that you already know that Iroh is one of the best characters in this show, right up there with Appa. So far I'm loving your reaction to this series.
I love seeing you say how much you like Iroh, then how Katarra impressed you, then how Sokka is the best, and Zuko is impossible to hate despite his attitude. Changing favorite characters with every episode is part of what makes ATLA so good, and it's so fun watching someone realise this for the first time ^^
Hey!! I found your channel with your first Avatar reaction, and since then I’ve been watching your other reactions. You have such a genuine and likable casualness, it’s clear that you’re having fun and those are the best kinds of reactions. Thanks for uploading!
One of the many great things about avatar is that it isn't just one side=bad, the other side=evil There are good and bad people everywhere and people who make bad choices as a response to past trauma - like Jet Also I think it's been confirmed that Jet was Kataras first kiss And also, yeah I watch the Bear on the blue house growing up 😂
Master Shifu is from Kung Fu Panda. Master Splinter is from TMNT. Also, the knife was Smellerbee’s. You can see it in her hand earlier in the episode if you look carefully.
I love watching someone’s reaction that had absolutely no idea about the show. I wish I could erase my memory and start it over to experience the greatness of this show. I can’t wait till your next upload :-))
23:13 This has nothing to do with Avatar but this is just why I love watching this guy: he's Scottish, I'm Scottish (though I don't have as good as accent as he does), he lives in Scotland, I live in Scotland. I can just relate to a lot of stuff this guy is talking about and the weather here is one of them. It could be pouring with rain and then the next hour it's boiling hot for us or vice versa -- it happens in the span of a couple of minutes, I swear

Wow, this series truly knows how to pull at the heartstrings and make you think! 🌌✨ Watching *Avatar: The Last Airbender* for the first time has been an emotional rollercoaster, and Parts 1 and 2 have showcased such profound themes. The character development is incredible! I can't believe how much depth and complexity each character has, especially Aang, Zuko, and Katara. Their struggles and growth resonate with so many real-life issues. The world-building is also phenomenal; each nation has its own culture and history that adds to the richness of the story. And let's not even start on the animation-it's stunning! The fight scenes are choreographed so beautifully, and the use of elemental bending adds an extra layer of excitement. The moments of humor really balance out the more serious themes, making it so enjoyable to watch. I love how it tackles important topics like friendship, sacrifice, and the consequences of war in such a thoughtful way. It’s refreshing to see a show that can engage viewers of all ages while conveying these messages. I'm on the edge of my seat, eager to see how these characters evolve through their challenges. If Part 2 is already this intense, I can only imagine what the rest of the series has in store! Can't wait for the next episode-this journey is just getting started! What are your thoughts on the character arcs so far? Do you have a favorite moment?

They showed a literal room of corpses in episode 3 and The Storm is where the kid show questioning happens?😂
Is no one gonna mention how he confused Master Shifu (Kung Fu Panda) with Master Splinter (TMNT)
Iroh has a special conection with the spirit world so it's totally possible for him to see Aang with avatar Rokus dragon. :)
I was having such a bad day, found out I'm being verbally/emotionally abused (a friend managed to convince me with a link and me reading over/highlighting what is true for me)
nearly highlighted the whole page. Now I'm in slight denial. But this is making me laugh so thank you.
I am really hoping that your situation will get be better, please take care of yourself and be strong, you will get through this. Knowing that you're being gashlighted/abused is the first step, you're doing amazing and you have an amazing friend that loves you and supports you. Sending you all my love❤
!!! AAAAH! i rarely comment on videos but you're one of my new favourite reactors and i'm so glad you're reacting to this gem of a show!! this makes me so happy! 😭😭
same i dont comment on many youtube videos but this mans energy is just peak
Uncle Iroh, best character in the Series. 🍵
7:27 just noticed the scar switched sides for a couple episodes starting here
Oh my gosh, Bear in the Big Blue House was my childhood! (As was Avatar, I was watched it when it originally aired)
Dude, I grew up on "Bear in the Big Blue House". Mom said I used to sing "where is Shadow" all the time
Congratulations! You got past The Great Divide. It's *_all_* uphill from here on out. All uphill and also The Chase.
I love avatar so much. Iroh I love. Zuko grew on me more with every book.
Correction: Aang has exactly 1 year to master the other 3 elements. Still an insanely short amount of time.
I love the fact that you're watching this series it gets even better as it goes on and each season the characters grow and mature so it gets a little darker little darker Ione the entire series it is well worth the watch at least once it is a beautiful series It has a way of discussing very adult situations and issues but making it understandable for children
ANY TEACHERS HERE?!
I ask because i saw a wonderful comment about a Teacher saying
he watched this Show together with his whole Class and the
Effects and the Thought-Food was so Epic that
they had many, many, many nice talks about it.
I just wanted to spread this cause the idea that all Teachers
use this work of fiction to discuss the countless various things
it covers (from abusive Daddys over Spiritisim to Strategy-in-War),
makes me feel Fuzzy.
If a Teacher reads this, i hope you use the Tool you've been given. A Tool that other tried
and yes, it works in the School-Enviroment; much.
"This guys been getting lessons from Master SHIFU from TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES"....... It's okay.... I still love you Welchy.
One of the many great things about avatar is that it isn't just one side=bad, the other side=evil
There are good and bad people everywhere and people who make bad choices as a response to past trauma - like Jet
Also I think it's been confirmed that Jet was Kataras first kiss
And also, yeah I watch the Bear on the blue house growing up 😂
Master Shifu is from Kung Fu Panda. Master Splinter is from TMNT. Also, the knife was Smellerbee’s. You can see it in her hand earlier in the episode if you look carefully.
yesssssss im so exited ive been waiting for this since the first vid
I like his shirt.
"Good morning
Good night
Good life"
:]
It's actually Winter right now, so Aang has several months. Still a lot of pressure.
I loved Bear in the big blue house! Also Zuko is my favorite character so enjoy him and Iroh as much as you like!
I love watching someone’s reaction that had absolutely no idea about the show. I wish I could erase my memory and start it over to experience the greatness of this show. I can’t wait till your next upload :-))
"that's why I stole this"
welchy: shocked pikachu face
23:13 This has nothing to do with Avatar but this is just why I love watching this guy: he's Scottish, I'm Scottish (though I don't have as good as accent as he does), he lives in Scotland, I live in Scotland. I can just relate to a lot of stuff this guy is talking about and the weather here is one of them. It could be pouring with rain and then the next hour it's boiling hot for us or vice versa -- it happens in the span of a couple of minutes, I swear
There are 5 "filler" episodes in this show that can be skipped without missing anything. The Great Divide is the one the fandom dislikes the most.
The other ones...
The Fortuneteller
Tales of Ba Sing Se
The Painted Lady
The Ember Island Players
Although they're filler, some of em are extremely well recieved
I don't think Tales of Ba Sing Se should EVER be skipped, especially because of The Tale of Iroh
The sheer audacity to include tales of ba sing se on your list
@@carlycchapman Ngl I don't think any of them should be skipped, especially that one
i would rather watch an hour of great divide than one showing of fortuneteller 😩
I recently found out Commander Zhao is voiced bij jason isaacs who plays lucius malfoy in HP. The crossover I didn't knew I needed 😭
Anyone else catch the "master shifu from teenage mutant ninja turtles"? That sent me through a loop for a minute 😂
YESSSSS I was waiting on this!
'Sokka is the last one you'd expect'
Me: no he's the idea guy
A wise man once said “This is not a kids show”
His reactions make me remember why I love this show and can never stop binge watching it over and over and over again. Its the best background show honestly.
i feel bad for katara in that episode but it makes sense aang has been taught bending he knows how it works and katara sitting there like :(
Your reaction is so wholesome, I think your energy fits this series very well
You're so wholesome! And funny, and charming, and witty...
Welchy saying “Sahka” gives me life
"master shifu from teenage mutant ninja turtles" yes
I can confirm Bear and the Blue House aired in Israel too. With Hebrew dub, no less.
And now, David, you got the moon song stuck in my head, TY
