At a certain level, air-benders shave their heads. Hairstyles, even in men, is extremely important in the Avatar world. It denotes culture and rank in a number of ways. I'm keeping it general on purpose as I don't want to give anything away. It's also important in our real world.

Blue Spirit is one of my favorite episodes. Zuko rescued Aang because he can’t have Zhao bringing him back to the fire nation, but they ended up making a really powerful team, and Aang escapes him later. I just think it’s a really interesting episode to show the realtionships between Aang and all of our villains.
blue spirit is a top 3 episode i’ve ever seen. the fight scenes are so good!

Seeing a lot of comments about future events, people, or guessing his thoughts. Just saying he deserves to go into this completely blind and form his own thoughts and without hints, jokes, sus emojis, or swaying
the air temple episode pissed me tf off and still does to this day. i hate how they made it “feel good” and “you need to not take it so seriously” when they’re erasing the history and culture of a genocided people….like. NOOO. Imagine just bulldozing machu picchu or the pyramids or other sites just because it was “an empty shell.” And the people of those cultures are still alive! Still livid.
Well I think it's more about prioritizing the needs of living people struggling over tradition just for the sake of conserving tradition, even though I agree that there should've been some kind of middle ground in this case.
They really shouldn't have glossed over them destroying the Air Nomad culture like they did. Like, it's all and well for refugees to use a ruin as a shelter if they have nowhere to go, it'd be like using Angkor Wat or Chichen Itza as a new home, but the show really should've emphasized the importance of preserving the historical and cultural value of the original inhabitants. It'd be like destroying the statues of Ramses II outside of Abu Simbel because "we need room for other stuff"

23:18 If you watch this part slowed down at 0.25x, you can see Zuko protect himself in a ball of fire. It’s only due to this that Zuko survives the explosion. Really cool detail you might not have noticed on the first watch!
Tbf, there really WAS no harm in simply going to the festival. Katara isn't dumb. It's just that they're kids and they do stupid shit. If Katara had said no to the demonstration, or Aang just airbended so she moved aside just a tad faster instead of exposing himself, NONE of this would've happened.
Whereas Katara has common sense, Sokka has the knowledge to know that Aang doesn't HAVE common sense, or, at the very least Aang doesn't do "subtlety".
Or just not interuppeted the demonstration. It was obviously just a show

4:22 Zuko didn't want to like "rescue" Aang, he wanted to kidnap him and take him to the fire nation himself (You know, he's na outcast, bringing the Avatar would allow him to return to his country).
Yessss I love the season 1 finale! I was very young when this show was originally airing but I think the creators did such an amazing job showing a child audience how serious the last 2 episodes were. I love the way everything turns red when Zhao steals the fish and then goes completely black and white after he killed them - everything except Yue’s eyes, which remain blue to symbolize that a part of the spirit’s life still lives on inside of her. Color is such a genius way to convey emotion and intensity to kids!!
And the blasts of colored fire in the otherwise colorless setting, beautiful

Your reasoning about Zuko freeing Aang is completely correct. Zuko's HONOUR is completely dependent on him capturing the Avatar. If Zhao gets that glory, he lost his last chance of redemption. Especially considering it's very clear that Zhao won't give him any credit for the work that he has done in finding and tracking Aang down.

ahahahhaha Ang is essentially a monk, therefore, he shaves his head. It's also a part of officially becoming an airbender, you shave the hair so they can give you the arrow tattoos. You can then grow it back or keep it shaven.

I'd say both your theories as to why Zuko saved Aang as the blue spirit were correct; he did need to be the one to bring Aang in "to restore his honor", but he also hates Zhao and I'm sure he'd love to one up him.

I love Aang dealing with the volcano. It's such a great moment and I feel like sometimes people forget about it. I remember that after the show was over I completely forgot about this episode...except for that moment.
aang basically singlehandedly saved a village from a volcano, something that roku (a fully realized avatar) couldn’t even do
@@allison8654 To be fair the village made an entire trench to collect a lot of the lava and Aang just dealt with the overflow, and Roku was actually dealing with 2 volcanos at first by himself. He was able to handle the first one right after waking up still in his pjs. Aang even said to Roku "This is amazing! You're battling a giant volcano and winning!"

In case anyone’s confused, Aang was not in control AT ALL in the fish form. He basically let the spirit use his body as a vessel, that was the spirit 100%. Some people get confused about Aang being a pacifist when the finale of this season was so violent and most likely had casualties.

I always liked the detail that when the moon is gone, the only source of colour is the light blue in Aang when he merges with the Ocean Spirit in the Avatar State, and in Yue's eyes.
This series only gets better and better! Cant wait to watch the rest of them with you mate!
