Perhaps this idea that Elon is somehow accepted as a "genius engineer" might warrant a few questions. He has a BS in economics and and a BA in physics. There's no evidence he did well in school (his GPA has not been made public). He dropped out of Stanford his first week. There is no actual evidence that he has a high IQ. He has no background at all in engineering. He didn't design any cars, he didn't design any rockets. He probably doesn't understand any of the engineering details of those cars and rockets.
But he's managed to make people believe that he does, and he's gone to great lengths to cultivate a cult of personality. And when we observe his outward behaviour it's really hard to think he's really all that intelligent. He does and says truly stupid things. He has the sense of humour of a six year old, and seemingly no self-awareness.
CEOs aren't necessarily more intelligent than the average person, and some aren't all that bright at all, but they do tend to exhibit common pathologies. What makes them successful is a certain ruthlessness, a willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed, things other people may not be willing to do. Being wealthy and successful is not a marker of intelligence. For clear evidence of that: look at Trump.

The failure rate for startups in Silicon Valley is often cited as being higher than the national average, with some estimates suggesting that as many as 90% of startups fail.Jan 23, 2023

A lot of words come rolling out these days but very little ensues. Empty noise, most of it we know anyway, almost nothing manifests as original. It’s all endlessly repeating what we already know.

Would the Daily Beast welcome Elon coming in and "sorting out" all of their business problems? Don't think so. Let's get serious for a second.

Trump may spend all his time golfing but the inmates will be running the asylum.
