It's pretty hilarious that even China has clearly far more artistic freedom than the west now. The contrast between Chinese games and western DEI garbage was just insane in this State of Play.
China doesn't have the art paradigm we have where everything is art, try to pull some modern art stunt and you'll get your SCS tanked, art takes time, skill, effort and vision in China, as it did in the elden times of the 80's and 90's and 2000's for things like videogames. But we can't return to that now since men are investing in women to make and mediate million dollars investments in "art".
One of the Game Designers of the Zelda BOTW, Kentaro Tominaga is working on Infinity Nikki! That's so cool!!! So you may feel familiar with some of Zelda gameplay such as the platforming, dungeon.
3:32 I'm really surprised you think the demographic will be male. Paper Games/Infold is really female-focused company, most all of their projects are dress-up games (the Nikki series) or otome (dating games for women). I suppose if you're unfamiliar with the Nikki series, you could be confused from comparing it to similar looking female-protagonist games like Stellar Blade. I don't usually mind games being male-focused (except when they take out fanservice for girls because whiny male players are worried they'll become gay just by looking at an attractive male), but I really hope Infinity Nikki continues doing as the previous games did and focuses on female Nikki fans first and foremost.
@@WagnerKnows No, it's still women, and the studio has always been marketed to women. You may have misunderstood this, and Chinese male gamers are just like you guys, they play whatever game they need to play, don't ask me how I know because I'm Chinese.
@@WagnerKnowsThe majority of gamers in China playing the Nikki games are female, I’m only talking about the Nikki games Love Nikki and Shining Nikki , I don’t know about other games though.
Nikki, Anatara and Dynasty Warriors were the only things I remotely cared about from the state of play. None of those games are from western devs, shocker!
Infinity Nikki really looks like if Princess Peach: Showtime was an open world BOTW clone or Genshin. As a 32 year old man, I'm actually hyped for Infinity Nikki & I'm praying that Sony or those western journalists don't get the game censored. Definitely 1 of the only 2 games that caught my interest during the State of Play. I also didn't know Infinity Nikki was from China.
I personally don't think Infinity Nikki will get censored. In all the clothing items Ive gotten in Love and Shinning Nikki, none were really too revealing. Some did have a lot of skin showing but Nikki really has the girl next door look, unlike Stellar blade where they made the goods bigger than normal (lets say). Also Nikki looks 18+ so that wont be an issue either. But I will say this Nikki is a gatcha game, it will bleed a person's a wallet dry if you allow it. But the story and lore of the Nikki (which they update every few months) games are cute, fun and even very very dark at times. I hope you enjoy (44 year man here and I will play the bejesus out of this no shame)
@@nonespecial7505 I highly doubt Nikki will get censored, but don't be too surprised if the media try to find any little thing to tell the devs to censor. But yeah, I'm also hyped to play it, but I'm also skeptical with the gacha stuff possibly being paywalls towards the story.
The funny thing is, One of the Game Designers of the Zelda BOTW, Kentaro Tominaga is working on Infinity Nikki! That's so cool!!! So you may feel familiar with some of Zelda gameplay such as the platforming, dungeon.
I'm most excited for Where Winds Meet! Huge huge fan of wuxia and xuanhuan shows. The mix of wuxia and fantasy reminds me a lot of Ever Night (best show ever). Absolutely amazing stuff coming from China. Have you seen their animations (donghua)?
Yeah well considering in the last 5-10 years we haven't seen any Wuxia or Zhang Yimov films something is up. Either there is no Wuxia or mostof it was bad.
@@XVa-uj8m There're tons of good wuxia shows/movies recently. In the past 5 years: Side story of Fox Volant, Heroes (2022), Heroes (2024), Handsome Siblings, Who Rules the World, Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre, The Ingenious One, The Blood of Youth, Wulin Heroes, Legend of Fei, Word of Honor, Sword and Fairy 1, Joy of Life, Sword Snow Stride, My Journey to You, Mysterious Lotus Casebook, A Journey to Love, Listening Snow Tower. Not to mention dynasty epics like Eagle Flag, The Long Ballad and Nirvana on Fire 1 & 2. I'm sure I missed quite a few and plenty of mediocre ones.
I've been saying for a while now that the up and coming game industries in other countries is going to be a new golden age for gaming. China is huge, and I can already see the potential in their artists already, but imagine the rest of the world. "California sensibilities" are incredibly niche. They have only half the support of the West, and none of the support of the rest of the world. When the rest of the world starts making games, they'll quickly see that, and we'll start getting more options that Western studios stopped giving us.
I love Chinese games because they are different while the West is cookie cutter and shockingly creatively far less free or able to take risks. I felt the same about Japanese games but there is far too much western influence there now. I cringe every time I hear about making manga, anime or games appeal to western audiences or how mangled content gets by localized to make them western. I consume foreign content specifically because they are not western and yes sometimes there are wildly different cultural standards and I don't want them westernized! Anyhoo I'm also looking forward to the hopefully eventual release of Phantom Blade Zero, Wuthering Waves,, where the wind meers, any Devil amd Fairy games, Nikki, wukong, playing wo long atm and old Gujian games.
I've been a fan of the nikki series for years with love nikki and shining nikki. I'm excited for infinity nikki. The company makes games aimed at a female audience but it will be interesting to see if guys will actually play infinity nikki.
Maybe because they added open world with more stuff to do like dungeons and a boss fight (one at least that I’ve seen) there might be more male audiences joining the game.
You’re the first channel that is talking about what I thought stand out is that the games that I got excited about are from China. I’m not into Nikki, it’s not my type of game. But Ballad of Antara is definitely my cup of tea. Tho it surprises me that you didn’t mention Where Winds Meet, that game is the 1 that I got excited about the most and it’s ofcourse also from China. China is massive. China ccp has issues importing stuff, exporting isn’t the same. It’s why u don’t see genshin and others as affected.. it’s when u want to go into chinas market u gotta bend,
Apparently the game is releasing on *mobile* as well? MOBILE??? I really hope that mobile version is completely different, so it's not a mobile game brought to other platforms. Good mobile games are near non existent these days since everything is ruined with microtransactions and shitty time gating.
The Nikki games started out on mobile. Though you’re probably not familiar with the games or you would know that, this is the fifth game in the franchise.
I consider myself as a bit of an alpha, but honestly Nikki does look interesting. Stellar Blade got me an into the costume collecting game, might as well continue it with Nikki I guess. Anatara looks awesome too, only partially because the females have boobs
Somewhere along the line a Korean or Japanese helped those in "Infinity Nikki", at least if it has some story of substance. If not than one of the main members of the dev. team is Gay or some multitude of unaccepted things in Mainland China. That or they were raised or spent a noticeable amount of time outside of China. I could be entirely wrong and Infold could just be a Taiwanese, NOT a mainland company which would explain everything nicely too.
