Well yes then they knew for what people they should aim with the marketing.
But besides all that, this game is actually impressive. The only weekend point if any is the story where they kinda made it a little to predictive, but for their first console game ever it still shits on most games from western devs who are in this industry for decades
It’s all about psychology
I would love this game just as much if the lead character was male.
The gameplay, world-building and even the music are top-notch and people respond to that.
The fact is, if anyone is busy ogling Eve, they will not be able to beat a single boss, paying attention to the fight is essential to progress,and it's so much fun.
That's why it's popular and a best seller, Eve is just a bonus that has way less significance than people claim.
