S J Vijay, Founder and Chairman, Salmon Leap Ventures at World MSME Day 2024

S J Vijay is a distinguished figure with an illustrious career spanning four decades across diverse sectors. His professional journey began in banking, where he spent his first decade at the State Bank of India. In his second decade, he played a pivotal role in transforming the banking landscape by contributing to the founding teams of ICICI Bank and Indus Ind Bank. Later, he served as the Country Head of Centurion Bank, now a part of HDFC Bank.
Transitioning into policy formulation and infrastructure development in his third decade, Mr. Vijay focused on shaping SEZs, seaports, airports, investment regions, and integrated townships. His visionary leadership and strategic insights significantly impacted the development trajectory of these critical sectors.
In his current fourth decade, Mr. Vijay has embarked on a pioneering initiative to revolutionize the construction industry through "Buildings as a Product" (BaaP). Utilizing patented 3D Monolithic Modular Precast Technology, he advocates for manufacturing buildings on-site and on-demand. His collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science underscores his commitment to establishing the Indian Centre of Excellence for Buildings as a Product.
Mr. Vijay's bold vision extends to positioning India as the global "Factory of Buildings," leveraging advanced technologies to enhance construction efficiency and sustainability. The Confederation of Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, in association with the MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Government of India, Bangalore, successfully celebrated World MSME Day and the National MSME Award 2024 on June 27th, 2024 at the Capitol Hotel, Bengaluru. The event, co-presented by the Global Council for The Promotion of International Trade (GCPIT), Nutty Treats and Foods Pvt Ltd, Viva Money, and OwlSurf Digital, brought together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and government officials to recognize outstanding achievements and empower MSMEs for the future.
