Even a century later every village in district mandya of Karnataka has is ideal and worship him as 'ANNADATA' which means the provider of food.
His work and his vision made south karnataka ,which is under his rule,more developed than many other states of India and north Karnataka,which was under rule of Nizam.

Bengaluru is already known to the world. When I went to Germany in 2012 for official on site visit, there was already a term in the west called "Bangalored", which directly means your service is not needed, your role is now outsourced to BLR

One important reason why Bangalore became IT hub is, not just economic policies were pursued by all Governments, but good education also. Veerappa moili setup transparent entrance exam (CET) for entry to Engineering colleges. Highest number of engineering colleges were setup in Bangalore/Karnataka that had quality education and more importantly, Government had seat share even in private colleges that were allotted purely based on merit. This enabled maximum talents to emerge from middle class background and those talents continued to do start-ups in Bangalore.

The biggest pull of Bangalore is the freedom one has to live his/her life according to their own terms. This makes it easy to accept the challenging aspects like traffic. People are cordial, work opportunities are aplenty. It's the high cost of living(a byproduct of high wages for folks like us) and lagging development of north Bangalore that makes it crowded in other parts of Bengaluru. Maharaja Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadeyar was a visionary. In True sense a Kannadiga. Bengaluru has come a long way but still there is a longer way to go. Let's overtake the Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv.
My metarnal grandfather was a technician in HAL back in 1941, he came from the small town Ballari back then. Later within 1 or 2 years because of 2nd worldwar so many employees were fired. But he left the job voulenterily ethically and Petriotically, though then British officials tried to retain him because of his high skill nad hard work. In those days he studied 12th standard and had a welding ship in Ballari town. I still have the journal related welding technology published in 1939.

I am a Kannadiga from Bengaluru and largely think Bengaluru is because of the emphasis on business, culture, education for all business classes provided by Kannadiga kingdoms like Mysuru Wodeyar kings and Kempegowda are to be revered today. Bengaluru is being destroyee to make it bigger but it was once a beautiful garden city which well planned keeping the amazing urban Kannadiga population in mind. If you can't appreciate the city for what it is and it was, you don't have a place amongst us.
That being said, expansion is a necessity, for Bengaluru or any other major city for that matter.
You cannot enjoy an omlette without breaking the egg. You cannot boast in front of the whole World about the achievements of the city and then complain it is losing its old charm. Don't make the same mistake Kolkata did. Learn to embrace change.
It was small, middle income with an inward-looking population, unimportant, and largely unknown even in India. Today it is rich, diverse, ambitious, confident, and able to excel in many fields; its parks and gardens are better than ever, its people live better than ever with access to foods from all over the world, transportation is improving, its airport is a marvel and the envy of other cities, and the city is warm and welcoming to all people.
Kudos to all the Raja's and leaders... Most importantly the visionary business men who had to go through the govts to achieve all this... Proud of being a Kannadiga and born in Bengaluru 😊
Bengaluru is not "The Silicon Valley of India", Bengaluru is Bengaluru of India, while Silicon valley is in America. China doesn't call Shenzen as silicon valley of China, because Shenzen is Shenzen, just like Bengaluru is Bengaluru. Industrialists both Indian and foreigners who employ them quote that 85% engineers are not employable. An avg Engineer abroad is better than an avg Indian Engineer. Due to this mass production, we produce quality Engineers which is probably 10% but that is a lot you take our population into account. Worst part - Brain Drain.

Bengaluru didn't do anything different. Just that in Karnataka the politicians supported only the development of Bengaluru. Rest of the districts and cities were ignored.

Had Banglore roads and infra been developed in parallel to software industry, the quality of life in Bang would have at least 10x better. The main problem of all cities in India is that almost all politicians are also real estate and real estate is the best place to hide black money. That is why our best cities are worst than a village in Europe. There is absolutely no town planning at all here in India.

Semiconductor fabs requires a very large area(ಭೂ ಪ್ರದೇಶ). I don't think setting up in Bengaluru urban is remotely feasible.
There aren't many Indians who have good degrees in electrical engineering.
Definitely won't be easy. Fabs are very high tech and cost a lot. And almost all of them are in East Asia

Visvesvaraya build dam to get water and electricity for the people of state.... and SM Krishna ( who was CM during 1994 to 2004), who also helped to bring IT/BT to bangalore to establish tech park areas like Electronic city and White field area...to grow and create lot IT companies..... we have seen the drastic +ve changes over the decade till now....
Happy to see Nalvadi Krishna Raja wodeyar name their contribution alone can be an 20+ min episode but you forgot to mention about S M Krishna former CM who had also contributed immensely to IT sector,New IT minister Priyank Kharge is also expected to do well in coming years

The thing that I love the most about Southern states is the kind of focus they maintain on providing quality education and public welfarism. In case regime change takes place in 2024, I would love to see a Prime Minster who can emulate the southern states' development model in North India. I think the North needs to learn a lot from the South when it comes to preserving language and culture while making steady economic progress. I sincerely hope that other parts of Karnataka also witness a sharp rise in setting up of high tech industries while also ensuring that the local ecology is not ruined the way it has been ruined in Banagalore.

More than the STPI, it was setting up of Electronic city and Peenya Industrial area on the outskirt of the city which paved the way for the IT industry in the city.
It should be called Silicon Plateau of India (may include Hyderabad and pune also) because this city (cities) lie on deccan plateau. Original silicon valley is called valley because it lies in San Francisco valley of California.

Both my parents have lived in Bengaluru from 30+ years and i was born and raised in Bengaluru and I'm 19 and still living in Bengaluru.
Yeah traffic is a problem here and I won't deny, and talking about the infrastructure it's really good compared to other cities, in many areas it's really very well developed and feels like a international City and I'm not over hyping, and coming to the weather, it is the best major city in the whole country with the best weather, even during summer it's sometimes rains a whole week and it's cloudy, somethimes it gets hot but majority of the year it's too good, the sky, breezy, chill vibes are awesome, and public transport - BMTC public bus literally covers every corner of the city, the Auto rikshaw community is also very well established, and METRO is very good with new lines coming, the cost of living is a bit high, nearly 10k for 1 BHK Houses in prime areas the groceries are a bit expensive, online food and delivery is everywhere and huge malls and shopping centres are everywhere, entertainment and nightlife is the best, job opportunities are endless and education is also good, pollution is slightly high, but there are still a lot of tress, many lakes are there throughout the city and many parks are there, and government is trying to improve them, Overall I've lived my entire life in Namma Bengaluru and I'm proud of my city ♥️

There should be RRTS type infrastructure developed between Bangaluru and Tumkuru, so people will go to Bangaluru for work and return home in Tumkuru, this will prevent overcrowding in Bangaluru. The Karnataka government, should develop other cities and give them incentives to open tech-hubs in other cities like Bidar, Ballari, Huballi, Dharwad, Chitradurga and so on, so that, people from this cities would get employment and their local economy wouldn't solely be reliant on tourism and agriculture.
