Great project, love the S38 E30... When is your motor going together? I have a freshly rebuilt S38 in my e34 m5 (forged pistons, slightly over-bored like yours) and am struggling with a re-occurring oil leak in the LR corner of the head, near the starter. I'm preparing to pull the head in a few weeks but would like to see what oil passages are in that rear area of the head and any drains or similar from the cam box... Just so I have some ideas on what to expect when I get it all apart. Random request I know, but not many people have the motors apart these days

Not to throw a wrench in your gears, but why the old heavy s38 engine? Expensive and to be honest obsolete engine. Yeah it looks cool but the cool factor aside. I got rid of the old cossie YB for the same reasons. Mostly nostalgic and obsolete expensive engine. Did go for a more modern engine, just 20 years old 😂
It is my dream engine, and arguably the best period correct bmw engine. It is heavy, but I’m not here for performance as such, obviously it will be rather fast.. I feel a car this age needs a proper mechanical engine, metal cam cover etc..
I agree, I would love an E30 with a Honda K24 swap. It just looks and feels right being a 4 cylinder engine preserving the handling characteristics the E30 was known for. E30’s were not known for making monster HP. They were called God’s chariot because they were so incredibly well balanced on the track and could out handle much more powerful cars.

E30 m30 swap enginemounts modified for s38? Any e30 s38 enginemount plug and play available somewhere?
Yes I have had to modify the m30 mounts for clearance of the exhaust and also lowered the engine by approx 15mm. Unfortunately none that I know of

Hey! Well the engine is completely disassembled right now, but will be rebuilding it quite soon. If you need any specific pics please say!

Why not go for the S38? It’s something different you always see the m5x/s5x being put in an e30. The build will be one of a kind for sure 👍
@@jivanchanna5036 if I was building it for track then yes I would have gone down a similar route to this! But it will just be for driving on the road🫡
