Honestly, I am willing to say this guy is one of the best, if not THE best tech youtuber. He cares about our time, gives useful recommendations in the comments, and is very overall informative. I love how he showed the sides of apple and android in a very objective way, which most won't do. Most will either say "Well it just depends on ur needs lol" or having blatant bias, but he just gives us the facts and truth. I am an android user, but I have seen many times where there has been clear bias against apple as well as for it. When they do that, it just wastes your time so they can try to convince you to join their side. I love the work you put into these videos, and I wish you well on your youtube journey. Also, I have a recommendation, I think it might be a bit nerdy, and you might not want to do it, but it might be cool to discuss the differences between macOS and Windows 11 (and maybe linux i guess) because it might be cool to compare features and see the strengths of each OS.

There can't be bias, because Android is always better than iOS, except when it's used in the Apple's eco-system. I thought that would be clear to anyone by now.
Btw, basic advantages of different OS:
MacOS: video/music editing. Win: gaming + overall popularity. Linux: privacy/security.

  • @TimpossibleOne
    @TimpossibleOne 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +194

It was refreshing to hear a tech review that was mostly unbiased. He, of course, gave his opinion on why he chooses his preferred OS but he didn't neg the other based on his feelings and not fact. He laid out the pros and cons of each side and left it for you to decide if you felt the same or not. Most tech TH-camrs lean heavy one way or the other and will make harsh unfounded criticisms off the less desirable OS or manufacturer.

I've used it daily mainly because my wife, kids and family all have iPhones. Personally I don't like it at all! I stayed committed hoping it would grow on me and it hasn't. I wanna add, that on top of finding what device is right for you, not just any, will work for any carrier you may be using. So, you also have to research whatever you're planning to get, will also work on that carrier. Cuz not all andriod of the same model or just any iphone, will automatically work on any service. They all have specific radios to work for certian carriers. And some can handle many, but some are straight up carrier specific and will not work on any other service.
Aslo to add to the comparison.
Andriod predominantly (depends on brand and carrier bloat that said brand allows to be added to there own) allows more freedom of choice overall. Some can even let you sacrifice some internal memory, to add to your ram. (not all, some do). Still mad about going apple though. Cus having the expandable memory was a massive plus, and allowed instant access to your photos/vids/music etc from old device to new device. Plus, if you couldn't afford the more memory model, you sorta could get the same or more for less, with an expandable model.
Apple, pretty much tells you what to do with your OWN device. You never truly own it. And just today i learned from an iphone user, all cus he owed apple some money, they can and will, lock you out of being able to update apps, use apps, use your own phone. Andriod doesn't pull such shit.
Apple has been known in the past to literally throttle your older device, to try and strong arm you into a new one. When they are capable of lasting a little longer. Some features are either non existent or more a pain in the ass to even do. Not sure if my oneplus 8t can, but via another video, some andriods allow you to send a text at a preset time, instead of instantly if you chose too. Apple does not do that at all.
Apple is generally "faster" cuz it does less than HALF, what and andriod phone does. But it does it well.
As for price, Iphones even to this day, are STILL not worth the price tag. When that same amount on a high end andriod will give you much much more. So why continue to pay more for less?
Proprietary, until the whole FINALLY upgrading to usb type C. You could only use the lightning cable. Which, if you were low on battery, and needed a charge, but your friends or whatever are andriod users, your shit out of luck.
Apple is also very very scandolous in general. They have those who make their accessories (those both directly apple, and 3rd party) pay THEM royalties, for the RIGHT, to sell accesories for their products. So, apple makes bank off of others work. They get more than the actual makers of that item, do.
They LIE! when they said first ever sapphire iphone, only the Camera cover was sapphire, all other was same gorilla glass or whatever glass they now use.
Titanium, only the frame is, nothing else. Jerryrigseverything proved such in his tear down video.
When they say "never before seen" that means never before seen on an iphone, cuz android had that shit many years prior to they themselves adding it to iphone.
I wish i could upgrade to the oneplus 12, as for $800, it kicks the ass of most devices twice its price. (more for your money). But sadly, most carriers are in a battle between google pixel (htc is who makes em now), Samsung (not bad but overated), and iphone (overrated as fuck). So options are extremely limited now.

Yet another excellent presentation. 7:35 I wouldn't add anything other than to say that the Apple ecosystem is frustratingly restrictive for those of us who want free and easy access to our stored documents. For example, getting music onto and out of an android phone is vastly easier than its Apple counterpart.
For this reason alone, unless Apple decides to treat us like adults and restore our freedom, I would never return to Apple.

Nice Channel - I like your style. It might be interesting to explore keyboards and mine. Especially with the different types of keys, backlighting types, and reliability. I had two G910's with the Roma-G keys and both failed quickly. It might be nice to know how to avoid the problem keyboards, and how the different types of lighting effect the keyboard. Such as how the Roma-G keys keep the light inside the key and can have the Symbols above the Numbers, but other keyboards have to put all the symbols on the upper part of the key and have light spilling out. And how some keyboard like the k100 keep crashing and needing to be reset and re-setup.

Choosing a phone can be a very personal thing. It's not as simple as walking into a store and buying an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy phone. I always do plenty of research when I'm in the market for a new phone, probably to my own detriment. I find that Sony offers the best phone for me, because they still have a headphone jack, no notch or punch hole for the front facing camera, and fingerprint scanner, among other nice features that I prefer. They're not great at updates though, as the Xperia 5 mkii that I have is on Android 12 and stopped getting security updates in October 2022, 2 years after release. But I'm nearly 3 years into owning it and it still works great and I see no reason to replace it any time soon. In the past, I usually would have switched to something else by now, but this has been a breeze. I used a Sony phone before this as well and I now use it as a media device for all of my music and whatnot. It's a model from 2017, and while it slows down a bit sometimes, it's still going strong.
There is a long list of reasons why I could never use an iPhone.
For anyone who doesn't know what's right for them, tech reviews are made for entertainment now, so there's no shortage of coverage on a phone you're looking at. Watch some videos and see what piques your interest. For me, if I weren't going to get another Sony phone, the Asus Zenfone is fairly similar to what I have and prefer.

My current phone is an Xperia XZ Premium and my next one will likely be the Xperia 1 V. I fully agree that the inclusion of features like the headphone jack, SD card slot and notchless display are very nice to have, albeit sadly very rare. In 2021 my XZ Premium suddenly died (2nd time) and still didn't turn on after a couple days, so I went for the cheap yet powerful POCO X3 Pro. A few weeks ago from the moment of writing this, my POCO's touchscreen suddenly died, with no prior warning or misuse (from my knowledge), which is why I'm back to the XZ Premium. Surprisingly, performance-wise I think this Xperia somehow runs faster than the POCO, despite being a lot older and having a worse chipset (SD 835 vs SD 860). Maybe it's because the UI in Sony phones is usually very light, which might make them last longer? I'm not sure, but either way, I'm 99.9% sure that my next phone will be another Xperia!

    • @MichaelSheaAudio
      @MichaelSheaAudio 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@fujiwarachika2187 Funnily enough, the XZ Premium was an option for me around 2019 when I instead went for the XZ1. It was an open box model from a store not too far from me and it was only $200CAD, so I had to go for it. I still have it and I use it as a media device. It has my music library on it, much cheaper than getting one of Sony's Walkman MP3 players. It's definitely not a speed demon at this point, it was one of the reasons I upgraded in 2021. It was originally quite good but just bogged down for whatever reason, maybe the final update wasn't a good one. Crazy how the XZ Premium is still running well in 2024.
If you're not too bothered about updates, which it seems like you aren't, then the new Xperia's are really nice, despite what the reviews may say. The 5ii that I have still runs just about as well as it did almost 3 years ago. It could probably go another 3 years no problem, hopefully nothing goes wrong. Whichever Xperia you get, good luck!

The thing about Iphones begin more expensive is true. In most countries the prices differ from the prices in the US. In here a s23 ultra 256 GB is 300 $ cheaper than a Iphone 15 pro max 256 GB. As for the video quality on instagram having better quality has nothing to do with favoritism. in the last few years Iphones simply has the best videos quality, hence the difference in quality on instagram.

Common misconceptions about certain topics within this video:
    - IPS LCDs "offer an uncomfortable viewing experience due to IPS glow. Have lower brightness. Have worse colors...." and all that nonsense.
    Truth and add-ons:
    - Most LCDs of this day don't have the severe of an IPS glow. In fact: you'll only see them when viewing the display diagonally (from a very steep angle) AND when the display is presenting darker colors. But that won't disrupt your viewing experience...not even close. What will ruin it is 'Viewing Angels.'
    - an LCD's viewing angles are meh... unless it's a QLED or a Retina or an OGS display (none these days). Most LCDs tend to have worse viewing angles than Oleds due to their linear projection of light, leading to the display changing brigthness and clarity as you as the angle of perspective becomes steeper.
    - On the other hand, LCDs almost lack the issue with "flickering", or, in other words, "Pulse width modulation" or PWM, which Oleds have, often destroying your eyes, and some people are highly sensitive to these and get more severe the lower the brightness goes. This is one of the reasons why you can stare at an iPhone 11 or XR all day and not get eye-strain...but the moment you use an OLED screen, things go south. This is the reason why PWM Dimming has gotten popular in OLED and Amoled displays, in order to prevent that from happening.
    - Another myth about LCDs is that it "drains more power." That simply isn't the case. In fact: It's the opposite. LCD power consumption remains consistent across brightness levels due to the pixels not having to emit light themselves, thus removing the need to increase power consumption in order to produce a certain color of light at a certain brightness...which oleds do. This explains why the iPhone XR and 11 had better battery than their Oled counterparts.
    - Another myth is "LCDs have worse sunlight legibility." Nope... An LCD is lit by what is essentially a flashlight. If you've ever stared directly onto a flashlight in broad daylight, you now have an idea where this goes.
Since flashlights emit strong beams of light linearly, which means they're more focused, they actually remain visible to our eyes even in brighter scenarios. This makes LCDs require less Nits to gain more visibility under direct sunlight as the light is so focused, it actually reaches our eyes....until you view it side ways in severe lighting conditions, which do fall a part slightly depending on the display.
On the other hand, Oleds and its individual light emitting diodes are essentially flames. If you shine something brighter than it, it will become less visible. Which is what happens to most Oleds panels under direct sunlight, which many of you may have noticed. This is why Oleds have more severe reflections on their displays than LCDs outdoors.
    - The reason why people see Oleds as "brighter" is due to Oleds having better light uniformity compared to LCDs. The light projected in an LCD has to pass multiple layers, which will impact brightness. Certain colors will be less visible and the crystals within the LCD display do take a lot of that brightness just to produce that specific bead of color. This is why some areas of an LCD look brighter than the rest, and this only gets more severe as you display a variety of shades of colors.
    - On the other hand, since each pixel within an Oled display is self-lit, it can essentially produce a color with similar or the same brigthness as the rest, but this is also one of the reasons to the power consumption I previously talked about.
    - However, QLEDs or "Quantom Dot Displays" and Retina displays have less of this problem. If you've ever held an LG G6 and wondered why the display looks so damn good, it's because of the light uniformity and because it's an LCD (flashlight). Imagine quantom dots as "reflectors" not "converters" unlike in the crystals used in LCD displays. These dots reflect light, but in a different color, all whilst maintaining the brightness from its source. This essentially significantly reduces the brightness reduction light has as it passes through the layers of regular LCD panel, resulting in remarkably better light uniformity and brightness.
    - LCDs also don't get burn-in and are more durable thanks to being inorganic, unliked the "Organic light emitting diodes" (OLED), which degrade over time and are more expensive to the wallet and the environment.
    - And the infinite contrast ratio for Oleds is more of a gimmick than an actual "advantage." Ever recall the display comparison between the iPhone XR and a Oneplus device?
Recall my statement about how Oleds need to produce more power to output certain colors at a specific brightness?
Well, if you've ever wondered why you had a better time watching movies on the iPhone XR, iPhone 7, and LG G6 than its oled counterparts, that's most thanks to LCDs lighting up colors that otherwise would be invisible to Oled panels... Sure, they may lose out on uniformity, but you'll see a lot more of the details in darker areas thanks to the backlight. But not all LCDs are this good, especially with the lack of innovation to the tech in recent years (at least, in the mobile space).
    - Also. More vibrant and saturated displays tend to invoke more screen time. It's like moths to a flame. LCDs don't give that problem, reflecting on users of iPhone 7s, 6s, and XRs, who are usually casual and more active.
Why you should consider an OLED is essentially.... Gaming. Oleds have faster pixel response times, making images look clear even in faster scenarios. And with higher refresh rates, it essentially just widens that gap. It is also perfect for aesthetics with its inky blacks and wide array of color reproduction, and the latter could be possible for LCDs, if companies made effort to do it on phones.
Moving on to another topic: UX on android.
My advice for those who want an android device to use for the long run:
    Buy Google's Pixel, or...
USE A HUAWEI, OPPO, Realme, or a Xiaomi device.
Avoid Samsung devices... Why? Better software optimization, better animations, and better software processing across all their devices (especially Xiaomi). If it wasn't clear with korean games such as PUBG and Krafton that korean software is pretty much an unstable mess, this is your wake up call. Samsung devices easily degrade over time, especially in more intesive uses. So avoid using them if you're gonna be using the device for a very long time. Their unstable mess of a software can take its toll on the hardware of your device over time, resulting in noticeable degredations.
Huawei is by far, the closest to IOS in terms of software and ecosystem.
    Performance:
Samsung is good for a year or two (unless it's the exynos models), but just get a Google or popular Chinese models (avoid techno, infinix, and iTel).
This if you wish to not use iPhones. Which to be fair, remain smooth and feel brandnew even after half a decade of use.
    Gaming:
    For tablets: iPads, definitely iPads.
For phones: Android. iPhones tend to overheat and newer models can go make you a fried egg for breakfast with how fast they overheat and degrade as a consequence.
    - Cameras:
    If you're into videography: iPhones.
They are generations ahead of the competition.
If your're into photography: Android (Samsung, Google, or Xiaomi. Avoid Huawei as they tend to manipulate statistics when it comes to areas. Especially in DXO marks. This also includes Honor devices).
    Overall:
    This may sound cliche but...
Pick something that best matches you. I often pick the most unconventional devices (Huawei) as my daily drivers due to my curiosity.
What about you? What do you often tend to do? What do you need? And what's your budget?

I am an Android user but I have used Iphones. Rather than suggesting which is the best in my opinion between an Android and an iPhone, I prefer to give further advice that is crucial for choosing an excellent Android. The absolutely most important thing is to have an installed version of Android that is stock or very little modified by the brand that sells it. Brands like Poco, Xiaomi or even Samsung tend to suffocate the operating system with changes and improvements that actually create 100% problems in the medium to long term, not to mention the fact that if you have a stock Android version all updates will be immediate whereas in other cases you will have to wait for the brand to update its version. All pixels phones obviously have stock Android but they are quite expensive. Brands like OnePlus and Motorola, on the other hand, modify Android very little. Personally I prefer Motorola. Another thing, everything and I mean everything that an iPhone can offer, Android is also able to satisfy. The only real reason to have an iPhone at all costs is because you have other products in the family ecosystem.

In my experience iPhones have a more refined experience than Androids with always a few less steps and frustrations. Barely any dropped calls, great RAM management without aggressively closing apps in the background, and solid integration with third parties like HP as well. My HP printer prints seamlessly with my iPhone without fail, but with my Huawei and my brother's Samsung S23 Ultra the printing is terrible and glitches galore with broken pages, now they tell me to print for them. My iPhone, AirPods Pro 2nd Generation, MacBook Air M2, all working seamlessly, if I didn't have a G Shock I would have an Apple Watch as well.

There's also need to consider about storage. On android phone (at least for mid range phones), there's a different type of storage for android (emmc and ufs). Since there's a 2 factors for input/output (io) performance which is read and write. In a nutshell read are just processes that you're doing to your phone if the file is already stored on your device (i.e looking for photos in the gallery or checking documents). Write on the other hand, creating and storing a file to your device (taking photos, downloading, you name it). Now for the 2 types of storage. UFS are far more superior than EMMC since UFS are able to do both operations (read and write) simultaneously, while EMMC are only working either of the 2 operations (after the read, it would be followed by write and vice versa, so simultaneity). that's why UFS is much faster than EMMC
Edit: iPhone on the other hand iPhone uses nvme due to the difference in file system implementation.

Size also matters, my hands are not small at all, and yet with my P30 pro which i plan on using for even longer than i already have, it's really next to impossible to type on it with just 1x hand, and if you try to type with both hands, most of the time you will not be able to see what you are typing at all, while my previous P9 can be used one handed quite well and with that, no two handed problems. Phones that are not as wide are mostly only Sony Xperias(even smaller than above mentioned P9).
6GB RAM is the sweet spot for all phones if you do not care about gaming and just everyday use, my P30 Pro never lags/stutters or anything like that even after 4.5 years of use. Cheap phones have also gotten very good for the price, they mostly lack the polish and the camera of the premium phones nowadays, while some years ago they would start to lag due to software updates requiring more and more RAM.

I've noticed that iPhones don't last as long as androids do. I've only been able to compare the Samsung Galaxy series with iPhones, but I am writing this comment on my Samsubg Galaxy S8 which is still thriving and hasn't slowed much since I got it 5-6 years ago. The longest I ever had an apple phone last was 3 years and it becomes impossible to install new updates or to browse on your phone without it lagging every 5 seconds. I feel like apple forces you to buy newer models every couple years by lowering the quality of the phone life, but I'm not an expert and this is only what I have noticed personally. Thank you for the instructive video!!

Absolutely not. As someone who works as technical support for Apple devices, I regularly see old iPhones as well. Had an iPhone 7 in today. Although not perfect, as any old phone, it still worked just fine.
Have had 10+ old Macbooks, and no they can do everything, but neither could my 10 year old Windows pc I have stacked up on the shelf.

I would like to add that certain Android phones use Stock Android. The perfect example of this are the Pixel phones. But Nokia and Motorola come very close. All other Android phones such as Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung etc have their own MODIFIED version of Android (eg in the case of Xiaomi it's MiUI and in the case of Samsung it's OneUI).

I was a vivid android phone user, but decided to switch to iPhone 12 2 years ago and have never looked back ever since! Before I had a Samsung galaxy phone that was overheating like crazy to the point where you couldn’t touch the phone! But never have I experienced such issues in the 2 years of using the iPhone 12! And it still works like brand new despite falling several times on the floor without any casing or screen protector and even holds the charge for at least 6 hours daily with normal usage like web browsing, watching TH-cam videos and playing some games! The camera is also amazing! I love my iPhone ❤️

You know nothing about phones and you're just another isheep fanboy. iPhone is a joke for Samsung, but you never had the best Samsung flagships to realised it.

@@axamesvcOr he just tried another product and liked it better. Samsung phones were absolute garbage up until the s10 line. Anyone who switched had good reason to.

@Brian-wp9er absolute garbage?... Definitely not. I remember iphones were years late to the big screen that Samsung offered. Even edge to edge screens in the s7 variants. They were trying new things and had exotic tech😮.

@@ImThatChosenOne I can write a whole essay on why samsung phones were garbage. Biggest reason I switched was the inconsistency in samsung software (android in general) and virtually no software support, which isn’t the case now, but still not as good as google or apple. Part of the inconsistency was owning a perfectly capable phone but being limited to only 2 years of software support. Also some carriers locked you out of certain features. For example tmobile wouldn’t give you rcs messaging when one ui 1.0 supported it because they had their own messaging system. Tired of having bloatware bogging down the phone. Idle battery drain on android phones back then were also absolutely terrible. My old s9 would just drain ridiculously fast in my pocket unless I left it off. Having 2 different OS on one phone taking up unnecessary storage. Apps have always and continue to run worse on android phones. Since samsung I’ve been with ios and pixel phones and the experience is just way better. I don’t know what it’s like on samsung phones now but I know back then it was terrible. And im not risking $1000 on a potentially dissatisfying experience again.

@themysterioustech, what of in Nigeria, Samsung is on the high side for me,budget-wise and i notice Samsung camera reduces in quality over time talking from a camera-user's perspective. do you agree to that? also the problem with these other androids phones you recommend is that peradventure something gets spoils in the phone, they are not accessible here in my country. so what's your advice to these.
