Hi Everyone and Welcome Back to My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing project.
This one is all over the place. Am I using a knit pattern for a woven fabric? Yes I am. Am I going to be pushed over the edge with a shortage of matching trim? Very possibly! But it turns out beautifully! This little jacket is a combination of amazing fabric, a couple different patterns, and a lot of "let's make this work"-ness. Is that a word? Anyhow, I hope you like it!

Beautiful! It fits perfect on your beautiful daughter.
Aw, your daughter loves her bespoke outfit! Such a blessing to have a mum who can sew!
Iam so in love with your sewing ability and knowledge I enjoy watching you create, you teach very well, thank you
My mouth dropped when you showed the result of your hand stitching the trim, wow so pretty!
A TON of work with a beautiful result, lovely daughter too!😘
Wow absolutely gorgeous! All of your meticulous work is evident in the final result. Truly a work of art.
Beautifully done. All the hand sewing. Your daughter is one lucky lady. x
My goodness. That is absolutely stunning. Just lovely.
What an accomplishment. You have done a phenomenal life.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That was a major save on that chain! It turned out beautifully, very couture.
Lovely job. Looks very pretty on your daughter.
The whole ensemble... outstanding.
Beautiful outfit for a beautiful daughter!! You nailed it!!!
Your daughter is beautiful in this dress and suit . Marvellous😊
Wonderful! 😍
Your jacket was worth the strife ❤ Jessica looks awesome in it!
I think its a lovely jacket so glad you changed the chain. It looks alot better❤❤❤
The jacket turned out great. Very Chanel-like.
Absolutely beautiful ❤ 🇬🇧
A lot of work and it turned out so nice.
That chain mishap was a blessing in disguise. The three rows are so tidy through the top corner. It never would have come out so nicely with the mitring. Maybe a pest of a blessing, but it worked out in your favour. The sleeves are the perfect length on your daughter. Bonus!, they line up very nicely with the bottom edge of the jacket 😊
Looks like your baby girl loves it. The whole outfit is really nice.
Wow - just beautiful !!
It looks so good and I can see your daughter loves it. I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again. You are an inspiration. You always make it work and get it done. And you can even rebuild a sewing machine! Wow, just wow.
Another beautiful addition to your daughter's wardrobe! A lovely lady with a talented, sweet mother. Well done Marie!💕
Wow! This turned out beautiful! ❤️
That turned out gorgeous!! I always learn so much watching you! I really really enjoyed this one! You are very talented!
Really enjoyed your How2 Chanel-Inspired Jacket tutorial! Beautiful Jacket! I can't sew a lick but I'm obsessed w/ Chanel jackets and the history of Coco Chanel designs. I recall seeing a TH-cam video about the history of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and her iconic suit. A british fashion archivist explained that the reason a Chanel jacket had quilted sectioned lining was to better support the loose weave of the Linton tweed fabric and hold its shape. The chain at the hem of the jacket was to add weight to ensure the perfect drop and swing.
Beautiful job Marie. Once again you worked your magic. Really trending here now ❤
People certainly do pay extra for that - and a good deal extra too! I particularly liked the "blessing in disguise". That's going into my bag of tricks if ever I have to get a multi-element trim around curves and corners - the end result was Chef's Kiss, Marie. :-)
Wow another fantastic make. You are so very talented
Great job! Beautiful! Thanks sooo very much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!❤️❤️❤️
Lovley!
Came out beautifully 🎉
That was great! Thank you!
Beautiful love this!!!
Me encantó la tela
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

You are my hero of female ingenuity....Wow what a wonderful job. So pretty. I want to be your daughter that you love to sew for. Lol You amaze me woman! Oh no wait....I meant to say...Mom.
Thank you! 😊
You are so good at what you do! I love your videos. I've been recommending both your channels to others. Thank you so much. ❤
gorgeous
I just love the uniqueness of your choice of fabrics: i.e. velvet for a bottle holder. You🥰always work out the issues so calmly and with humor.
The chanel style trned out beautifully. I sewed for myself for many years and then have quilted hundred of quilts, mostly hand quilting. I would have hand quilted the jacket, think you would like the result, changes how it fits and feels, also, the chain should provide a little weight, again will affect the fe=it. You are such a beautiful seamstress.
Lovely
Fabulous
It turned out just beautiful. Your care in how you put it together shows. I found it very interesting to watch you work the fabric. I have never used anything like it. Very enlightening for me.
You made a family heirloom! Gorgeous dress on a beautiful daughter.
What a nice jacket. Great call to leave buttons off.....it would have been too much. Also replacing the chain was excellent. The outfit looks stunning. I have seen Chanel suits from the '60's w/ 3/4 length sleeves.
Hi
Once again wow
Think you slow clever n so much patience
Well done
Sure your daughter will love wearing her Chanel outfit
Thank you
Caroline x
As always you amaze me with your details. The trim on the pockets, front edging and around the neck edge is beautiful. You definitely deserve a reward for all that extra work. WOW.
All the details paid off! The outfit is beautiful. And your daughter is gorgeous and looks stunning in her dress.
Hi from England. What a coincidence, I bought the Freddie jacket pattern from Bella Loves Patterns only this week and hope to start it shortly. I am always behind watching vlogs and you were in my To Watch library and I came to it this evening. I am going to use your method of making the jacket with different finishes. Love the way that you have made it. Thanks for doing these videos.
Wow!!! Your work is amazing…I never miss your videos. ❤
Wow!! That is SO chic! Thank you for taking us through the whole process- from hacking 2 patterns to the finished garment. Your work is to the highest standard. ❤
Great save on that trim. The outfit is beautiful. I am about to make my very first tweed jacket and I am very nervous to cut into the fabric!! This was a great video.
Good luck!!
Another idea if you only have 2 buttons is to create a dress clip or sweater clip with button on each side attached to clips (purchased) with chain in between that you can use to hold jacket closed … like a piece of jewelry
Yes, I like that. I did something exactly like that on my wool peplum jacket a while back. I think it turned out really pretty. Thanks for watching
Hi Marie can you tell me where you bought your weights please? Thank you. I really enjoy your videos 😂
Oh my goodness, I bought these way back in the 1980s. I don't think they make them anymore. But you might be able to find them used on eBay or Etsy.
Just a question: how many buttons do you buy when you see something nice and you don’t have a particular project in mind? Does the number vary according to the size of the buttons?
Hello, if I'm at a place that has a big button bin, will try to get about a dozen. That way I have plenty no matter what. But sometimes you just take what you can get. Thanks for watching
Nice job! But it pays to learn tailoring from scratch, so you can make your own patterns to measure, and it's actually not that difficult!
How many yards did you use for the entire outfit?
I don't remember.... But maybe 2 1/2 at 54" wide
