  • Best Settings for Down Imaging. In this video I explain the settings I use to find fish (crappie), brush piles, and structure transitions. I break down Sensitivity (Gain), contrast, and depth settings to help give you the best picture on your Garmin, Humminbird, or Lowrance with Down Imaging.

    In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

I bought a small boat to use in the Lake Region of MN and am looking forward to using your tips... I've caught Walleye and pike but never a crappie.... This will be the Spring for that. Thanks again.

    Thanks for another GREAT video! I enjoy your channel much, its not just another channel full of vids with a guy sitting in a boat seat staring at a livescope screen and horsing a fish in over and over. Your vids are different because they are instructional and explanations are given. Keep up the fantastic work! On to my question. I am running a Garmin Vivid 7SV with my transducer mounted on my trolling motor. I like having the transducer at the front where Im standing to fish. The 2D and Down Imaging works great but Side Imaging is terrible. have you ever used SI on a trolling motor mount? I'm concerned thats the problem but I'd like to keep the transducer there if at all possible. Any tips, tricks would be appreciated....Thanks!

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes the trolling motor prop can cause interference with SI . Also, side imaging works best when trolled at a constant speed.

    Thank you Davis! I was literally trying to figure out how to zoom in today on the water. I didn’t know the two finger zoom worked for Garmin like google earth or a tablet. I Didn’t know about the screen capture either. Do you have a video showing all these quick tricks. I had my scroll speed all wrong as well. I had my scroll speed set high thinking since I was moving so slow on a kayak I needed to compensate for it with a faster scroll speed. Sorry but my last Garmin was a Striker 7 and all buttons. I’m still trying to learn the 93uhd.

    I feel like I screwed up buying the ECHOMAP Garmin 63cv UHD with the UHD 24 transducer. I wish I spent much more time researching to really learn that if I had spent just $300 more for a fish finder like the ECHOMAP Garmin 93 sv with the 54 or 52 transducers. Because I could at least add live image scope as a upgrade.

      @FloppingCrappie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best unit right now for under $1000 is the Garmin 93sv UHD with gt54 transducer at $699 bit.ly/3uJMoih. Humminbird Helix 9 is a great unit, but it prices in at $1500 bit.ly/34CrcAi . You could look into a humminbird helix 8 at around $1200 bit.ly/34VcOmg , same unit as the 9 just a slightly smaller screen. All three of these units have mega side imaging. The only difference between the humminbird and garmin (gt54 transducer) is the Garmin runs 840khz down imaging instead of 1.1mhgz like the humminbird. You can buy the new Garmin 93sv with gt56 transducer that is full mega imaging like the humminbirds for $1100 bit.ly/34RZfEi

    I never comment on videos but this is the second in a week, on your channel. That’s gotta say something. 2D seems to suck compared to down image. When you run your screen, how do you split it, if at all. It seems like down image and side would be the way to go?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a function on your sonar settings that allows you to view 2d, di and SI at the same time on the dame screen. All of the sonar function have different uses. I primarily use side imaging and down imaging.

    question sir so I just got a 106sv and the brightness and range goes back to auto on down view after I restart the unit, is this normal do I need to set those every time I turn on the fishfinder or is there something wrong with my 106sv?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, the only thing I can think of is if the battery connection is being disconnected after you shut it off. But even then, the 106sv should save the settings for brightness and range.

      I would use 455khz for side imaging. I've personally never fished a lake like you described, but I would look for any brush or timber on my side imaging. If I can't find that I will look for rock piles going into the lake, some sort of cover transition.
