Your video was very helpful! Will definitely try this out next time I'm on my boat!
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
It's pretty cool that a small electronics company in Meridian Idaho, came up with side imaging for fishing 1st. Then sold out both Bottom line, and Cannon downriggeers, to Humming bird.
Thanks, that’s a great tutorial.
Excellent video showing how is done. What graphs are you running at the console? The reason I am asking you is that I am considering the Echomap Ultra 126sv with the GT-56 Transducer. The clarity of the SideVu scanning with the GT34 @ 1120 kHz is outstanding!
Im debating the same should i get the gt34 or the 56???
The best way to explain the distance:
If the tree on the screen is 20 ft away on the bottom diagram that means it’s 20 ft down but diagonal. From surface to the floor 20 ft. Deeper the water the less accurate the distance on the screen is
Great explanation!
Nice job thanks for the explanations
So since it's what you've passed already, the top left side of the screen is what you've passed on your right side of the boat, correct?
Dang that gt34 throwing a good picture.
The key is to throw the smallest roostertail over that bream bed... This summer I wasn't catching any bass so I decided to try for some bream on a bed I knew about. Maybe my fourth cast with a size 8 roostertail a 5lb largemouth nailed it. I had it on my ultralight with 10lb braid and 6lb leader. I was so lucky he didn't break me off... he took me all under the dock the bed was near at least three times.

What exactly is the Garmin fish finder you are using there bud? Thank You
For side imaging is there a time you recommend the 455khz and a time for the 1120khz.
Yeah that's pretty much garmins mega si u have the ultra units with the gt56 ducer I would guess that's some nice shots
Hi. Great video. The definition of your sidevu is fantastic. Just wanted to know what Garmin unit and transducer you have. I have a 942xs with a ultra high definition scanning transducer with black box. I never have any definition that good. My screen is mostly flat or blurred. The only thing it shows we’ll is balls of bait. Just want to know if images like yours are possible on my unit. Thanks.
I’m running a base model 93sv echomap. That looked like the 12 or 10 inch echomap Ultra HD. I am getting clear pictures like that off of mine. It’s just the way that you have to set up the sonar based on the water that you live in. Also that you have to be in the right area and the right water conditions to be able to get that kind of clarity.
Here in Florida it’s a little harder cause of the dirty water everywhere but the units are capable if you set them up the way that they need to be
Just wondering, If we turn the sidevu tranducer to face forward...would we see a wide frontvu and rearvu?
It could work but how I see it is that when you turn it side ways say on the trolling motor, you will see out in front but everything would be past the boat to the left or right by the time you see it and the image clarity wouldn’t be nearly as good. Also these transducers wouldn’t be able to read properly if it were going side ways. Everything you find would be elongated and fuzzy.
If there are fish around the structure, does the unit also show the fish with the structure? or it does not show fish only show structures?
Can you please show what you have your sv settings as.
I am not sure what unit he is using but the transducer is a gt34 it says that right on his screen. Also has 14.1 volts so not running off a 12 volt battery.
My 12 volt 32 amp always shows 14 volts
@@patrickcotter945 Yeh, but only when your running the big motor... That's what he's talking about.
would be fun to once see a video where you start fishing after looking at sonar. Do you like reverse back to the good spot or start angling back and side from the boat?
Great video thank you I have one question that I cannot find in any other documentation of Garmin or on the web does Garmin fish finders have a casting ring or a distance reference when you set a waypoint like a ring that tells you that your 20 ft or 30 ft away from that way point like like Lowrance depth finders do thanks
You will have to go into the settings and try to find it. Garmin does have that capability but I can’t tell you off the top of my head without looking at my screen. Give me a while and I can re comment on this and tell you the steps.
@@weshallfishing7122 that would be great thank you so much for your time I've been looking I'm just not looking in the right place thanks again
I have a lowrance carbon and mine is in the chart settings not sure if this helps
what unit is this?
What unit mate
👍
Apakah itu merek garmin ?
Yeah mine is
no where near this good 94v with gt54 tranducer
My gt54 got snatched off while running down the river from a tree. I switched to the gt53 I believe is what it is and clarity has gone way up as the KHZ has changed 455 to 800. He’s running 1120 KHZ because he’s running the new Ultra HD 10-12 inch echomap.
mungkin ada fish finder Garmin tidak terpakai bisa memberikan kepada saya karena sangat membutuhkan 🙏🙏
what glasses you wear ?
So why would you want to see what is behind? Can't you put it in the middle of the boat so you can actually see the side-views and not what you left behind.
That’s the nature of sonar, it’s a scrolling “history”, once you find fish, you have to double back to fish those spots.
Dude, Put a Waypoint on the spot and turn around and fish it! ????
Enjoy the tips but can hardly see what your talking about.
This Brent guys doesn't answer many questions huh? Guess he doesn't really interact with his Subs. To bad
Quit your whining. You’re not as important as you think you are. Just enjoy the effort of actually making the video in the first place.
What unit is this?
Nice.... Thank you
That is very interesting. I’ve never seen side view definition in a Garman or really any unit that chrisp. I am assuming that is a simulation that came with the depth finder itself from Garman corporation.
I get similar images to that on my farm in echomap 93sv. He’s running the 10-12 inch garmin echomap Ultra HD series so he is going to get that good of clarity. That wouldn’t be a garmin simulated experience.
@Andrei Ovidiu Stoenescu that’s all I get out of mine is 800 but it views amazing, I’m hanging a 10 inch echo map UHD at my bow with panop/livescope here soon.
