    how about the uncommon color phases like the glaciers?

    • @BowhuntingRoad
      @BowhuntingRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Kermode and glacier bears are confined to small areas and wouldn't be considered major color phases but I sure would like to add them to my collection.

    Ended up here from a random YT short comment section arguing about a bear being a cinnamon or grizzly. Thank you for the education!

    I’m just glad you mentioned my home state, Arkansas. I’m setting out on a bear quest. I’ve always wanted to kill one but I am determined to kill one. We do have black, chocolate, and cinnamon. I have trail cam pic of all 3 colors but mostly black. I don’t really care at this point I just want to kill one. LOL!!!

    that "cinnamon" that you have the trail cam pic in Ontario, I would call chocolate.

    • @BowhuntingRoad
      @BowhuntingRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I'm not sure what bear would be a cinnamon if that one is not. It has a lot of red to it.

    • @brettu45
      @brettu45 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BowhuntingRoad I agreeing does have some red, and then tapers to darker. And I guess that’s my issue with the whole colour thing is that it is quite subjective. They are all just variations of lighter and darker brown with different tones to them. It makes sense why no one can keep records of grand slam colour phase, because, well, where does it stop. What about chest patches? What about forearms? Etc.

    • @BowhuntingRoad
      @BowhuntingRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear ya. Plus some bears are blonde on the back and chocolate on the legs. Those of us who are interested in putting together a group of people who have or want to complete the grand slam have discussed having a system of color swatches, etc. It's a difficult thing to define. Seems to me anything with a significant red tint to it should be classified as a cinnamon but that's just me.

    Hi, I'm Italian, do you know if i can find some wolves or lynx near Melfort, Saskatchewan or i have to go much further north? And where's the northern limit of bobcat range? Thanks.

    • @BowhuntingRoad
      @BowhuntingRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there are wolves in that area, but I am not sure of the northern range of bobcats. My guess would be that once you hit the northern boreal forest there are lynx and not bobcats.

    What a cool bit of information, thanks a bunch! No wonder we don’t see a lot of color phase bears in my areas. I had the pleasure of watching a gorgeous chocolate with a pair of cubs at my site last season for long stretches, what a show they put on sometimes!

    I was turkey scouting down here in kentucky, we dont have brown bears but i swear i saw one looking at me standing out of a small cave under rock on the side of the mountain all i could see is shoulders and head so after looking for a few seconds i went ahead and turned into lightning mcqueen

      Brown bears are only found in Alaska and Russia, but it is possible you saw a brown colored black bear. It would be very rare in KY, but not impossible.
