As always I'm hypnotized and mesmerized by the talent that Sonny has. With the skill and talent he has he's still the most humble man I've ever met. Truly a legend. Thank you Sonny for all you give.
My Wife and I met him in New Orleans a few years back in a restaurant after seeing him earlier in the day @ Blues Fest. As you said A GENUINE AND HUMBLE GENTLEMAN!! He asked if we’d like a picture and he signed a hat I had bought there.
Wow, just Wow! I've never seen anyone do that with a slide and that includes Derek Trucks and Duane Allman. Clapton said, “Sonny Landreth is probably the most underestimated musician on the planet, and also probably one of the most advanced.” I have to agree.
THE Slydeco King ♫"Sonny brings the Cajun flavour to the 21th Century like no other.. the term slydeco has been used to describe unique brand of the Blues. Whether Jazz, Blues or Cajun. Sonny will Blow You Away! "♫
I've seen him play a number of times but never before had I seen him transfer the slide to his picking and plucking hand like he does here. Very few guitarists would dare to do complete solo arrangements like this on electric guitar, and fewer still could make any kind of intelligible and listenable music while doing it.... Such incredible musicality he has!
I love the playing and the lyrics, it brings back such fond memories of living in south Louisiana. A beautiful story is told in this song. Thank you for posting this.
Lucky enough recently to see Sonny, along with Marsha Ball, at the Ark, Ann Arbor. The sounds he produces are fantastic to hear, mesmerizing to watch. Thank you, Sonny!!!
As far as "horizontal music" (Eph. 5:19) is concerned, without question one of my top ten is "South of 1-10" by the Cajun Hendrix, Sonny Landreth. For popular listening, I would recommend the studio version on the album of the same name (with drums, bass, etc.) But truly, this is my favorite version. I challenge you to find another 5-minute music clip in the rock oeuvre that is played, lyricized, and sung by a man who never played for money or fame, but just for the glory of getting it just right.
Sonny you are great! Not that you want to change anything in this phenomina expose, I would just request that in the choruse if you would say one "come on let's dance" and then another "Alon Dance" so that the rhymes connects with, "we really have it made"
One of the most soulful Guitar Players on the planet!

Unbelievable player and the nicest guy you could meet.

A guitar poet.
I now have an unhealthy relationship with this song.
A slide genius must be cajun!
