    Probably better to buy a Navigator Card and chose the Zipped option , the Machines have an English option , choose buy a card and charge. You can then add 2,5,10,15,20, or 30 Euro . The Machine is easy to use but remember you want the Zipped option if on a long stay but for 2 days a daily pass may be better. Using card makes transport very cheap and you can use it for Metro, Bus, trams , ferry’s and some trains.

    Living in Lisbon, I can tell you, save your energy and go take that Uber or taxi ride. You will be walking A LOT and up hills your entire stay...
    And whatever you do, do not take that journey using the metro into town while it's raining.
    Transport here is some of the most inexpensive, compared with the rest of Europe.

      Thank you, Paula Milano, for your insightful tips on navigating Lisbon. While we enjoyed our experience with the metro system and chose to share our positive encounter for those seeking this option, we understand and appreciate your suggestion to consider alternative transportation, especially during inclement weather. Exploring the city via public transportation was an adventure for us, finding it both convenient and efficient, particularly during our stay. Your local expertise is invaluable, and we're really appreciate it. Thank you for enriching our community with your feedback! Warm regards from Discovering Destinations.

    so if the metro doesn't go to your destination directly and intersects with other colored lines, do you change it from the same station and buy a separate ticket for that?

    • @DiscoveringDestinations
      @DiscoveringDestinations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Naqsh, Thanks for your question. Usually you are allocated some time to get to your destination - we don't know how much time that is since we had the 72 hour pass for Lisbon. However this should be clearly indicated where you purchase your ticket.
      On the www.metrolisboa.pt/en/buy/ website it states that you have 60 minutes from your ticket validation.

    • @margaridaferreira8029
      @margaridaferreira8029 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You only need a specific ticket for the stations outside of Lisbon. In Lisbon you can use all lines with just one ticket. For example, you catch the subway at the airport (red line) and your final destination is Cais do Sodré (green line), you need to change subways at Alameda but you will use the same ticket.

    Great, but since your arriving with large l luggage, what's it like going up and down the metro stations with luggage?

    • @DiscoveringDestinations
      @DiscoveringDestinations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a great point that you bring up and thank you for bringing it up.
      We remember now that leaving the airport and getting to the metro was fine because a) we were going down stairs and b) they mostly had escalators. However, depending on where you end up in the city, we don't think every station have escalators to get back up and some maybe part of the way up. So that might be something to consider if you have lots of large luggage. Please feel free to get back to us with any follow up questions you might have.
      Thanks again!

      @@DiscoveringDestinations Thank you for your very helpful reply! So could one manage with full size suitcase on an escalator? I will only have one suitcase and 1 backpack, so probably not an issue. I'm going to check out more of your videos! Best regards from Israel.

    • @DiscoveringDestinations
      @DiscoveringDestinations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@come_explore_with_me_IL We really liked our experience and recommend it to others, however keep in mind that escalators can be closed for maintenance or non existent. Which means if you can envision yourself pulling your luggage up regular stairs for a few flights then yes, you should be fine with 1 backpack and one suitcase.
      If you're planning on spending a few days in Lisbon, we also recommend getting the transit pass because this will give you access to trams, local trains, busses etc.
      Serge & Lia :)

      @@DiscoveringDestinations If I need to lug it up some stairs I'll get a workout lol, no problem. Yes I plan to get one of those passes. There's a 24 hr pass that uses via viagem card. Very worth it if you use the metro or bus to get around. Thanks so much!

      That site is not Portuguese or Brazilian.
      Rental it is written in Brazilian "Aluguel" , in Portuguese is "Aluguer" but "Opciones de consentimiento" makes me believe that it is a Spanish or Latin American site.
