I got this monitor a year or two back. I use the DP connection for my windows desktop which I am looking at, at the moment. The USB-C charges my M2 MacBook Pro no problem at all and I can switch it between the MacBook and Desktop very easily. I still marvel at how good this monitor is. Best thing I ever bought. It also saves room on the desktop so one keyboard and mouse is in use with the other one (I have the Apple Keyboard and Mouse as well as the Logitech mouse and keyboard wifi for my windows desktop). Yes, scaling for a Mac is just fine and I don't notice the 60Hz refresh and I have the pro motion MacBook Pro. It is hard to criticize as I use either external speakers for the Desktop in DisplayPort or I use my hearing aids for sound if the MacBook Pro is plugged in. I use a hub when using my Macbook which is plugged into the Macbook and of course the other USB-C is plugged into the monitor. It is pretty cool to just plug the MacBook in and away I go and it is charging so I don't have to worry about battery life. I do from time to time adjust the screen height and distance and it is very easy to do this. I can't imagine going back to a monitor just sitting on the desk, this is so much more desk friendly and it makes a big difference to me. I suppose the final point is...the resolution and colours and brightness are just fine on this monitor. Even going back and forth to the MacBook M2 Pro I have...yes I'm sure in HDR that the MacBook is better but it is still just a 14 inch screen. This screen is huge in comparison and it makes it much easier to work on. The bottom line is I smile every time I use this monitor even after owning it for quite some time.

Great review! Looking into this monitor for my Macbook Pro 14" and my Xbox for my dorm setup. You hit on all the points that I was thinking about. For the contrast ratio, I was looking at the new "IPS Black" monitors from LG with 2000:1 contrast ratios, but they don't come in this "880" model and you'd also have to buy a stand separately, so it'd be much more expensive to go that route. Sam, thanks for the excellent review. Pricing now doesn't seem to be what it was when you created this, unfortunately. I'm back and forth between waiting for the price to come down on this monitor (currently around $600) vs going for a Samsung 34" ViewFinity CJ79 ultrawide that can currently be had for $400. Can you comment on ultrawide vs 4k? I have a macbook air, and the ultrawide is temping since my computer can only support one external monitor rather than two side by side. On the other hand, I'm interested in the presumed superior text clarity on a 4k monitor. thanks again
i've never owned an ultrawide but almost bought one instead of this, reason i ended up not doing it is mostly because of price but also because of resolution, if you're not going crazy expensive, its genearlly more expensive to get a high PPI ultrawide vs regular monitor. but i think its up to you! they're both good, just if you want a bit more screen or a bit sharper screen, dont think you can go wrong :)

nah it doesnt unfortunately
Is this a 10 bit monitor? how far do you need to sit from the monitor for comfirtable viewing?
hmm i cant find if its 10 bit. and i sit about 2.5 feet away, you coudl probably sit as close as 2 feet but any closer and you'd have to turn your head to see the corners
@@sam.alexander.reviews thanks for the reply.
Nice vid. Congrat
Glad you enjoyed it
nice review 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Will the menu of MacOS be bigger on 32" 4K or 27" 4K?
you can scale either, but 32" 4k
Is that mount friendly to glass desk?
i haven't tested but i'd think it would be, could put a cloth in-between to be safe
@@sam.alexander.reviews thx
Great Review...
hello, may I know your desk size
its 5 feet :)
5 feet by 2 feet
@@sam.alexander.reviews thanks for the perspective! I ended up borrowing an ultra wide (1440p) from a friend and it’s been good enough that I haven’t felt a strong desire to upgrade to 4k. Might be an ignorance is bliss situation, like as long as I never experience a 4k monitor, I’ll remain oblivious to how much better it might be.
I’m going to get this monitor!
do it! its great
Is this still relevant nowadays or are there better ones?
i haven't done a bunch of research, i'm still usign the same monitor and its working great for me, i'd say as long as you can get it for the same or a better deal, its still amazing
The speakers are terrible but your sound taste its excellent 👌🔊. Nice video, congratulations
Thanks! 😃
It won't deliver power if you Have MacBook Pro ! I just returned it because of this issue! 60 WATTS NOT ENOUGH! My Mac need 90 watts!
weird! i have the macbook pro m1 max with 32 GPU cores and 60 watts is enough for me even when i do long 4k renders
Still a great one for Windows.
It’s expensive. I don’t see the deals out there.
Does it let u split screen?
if you mean having 2 different inputs like 2 different computers each displaying to half the screen, i dont think so. but it does have easy switching from multiple inputs with just a button push (well 2 technically)
@@sam.alexander.reviews thank you so much for the information trying to set up at home office an all i am seeing is the monitor so it has to be a good one..
You can't rotate the OSD on LG monitors, which is very very stupid!
After 9 months it died on me. Now on a Benq ;)
Why is it only for mac??
its not! would work great for lots of windows laptops with usb-c
Willing to share the name of the eBay seller?

@@sam.alexander.reviews Cool. 30 day returns. Seems like a super legit seller. You can’t beat $350. Ergo is in the mail!! Thanks again man. Good stuff.
@@DMCnME Nothing now...
@@sam.alexander.reviews I ended up getting one of the last ones they had. Perfect transaction and the monitor is wonderful. People who say 4k doesn’t scale well and still looks blurry must have better eyesight than me. To my eyes, the text is super crisp and is a massive upgrade over my 1440p monitor.
They have them in stock periodically again. Just keep checking. I just nabbed one this morning, hoping it’s all legit like you guys are saying. Hooking up to my MacBook Pro m2 14.
What’s the different to the lg27up85n?
