    Excellent review! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. My son is a new boyscout and I’m used to my gigantic 10 person instant tent. I bought a 3 person tent and felt like I was hitting the side walls (which can make for a wet time if the weather turns bad). I love the size of the 3 person tent, but its just too small. I’m purchasing this tent tonight. Thanks so much!

    I had a 9 x 12 Ozark tent. I'm an old lady and could set it up in under 3 minutes by myself. My dog and I enjoyed many camping trips with that tent including many storms. The rain fly finally went, so I bought a smaller tent that didn't need a rain fly. The expansion panel on the case really impressed me as I can never get any tent back into the case. I always have to buy another bag. Thanks for the review

    We used the 3 person version of the tent you demonstrated and we used it every night for three week trip and we really like it. Stayed dry even in heavy rain.

      the A frame looking one? I love that one!! I got it and tried it out in my house but there were holes in it straight out of the box. I'm thinking I'm going to grab another one though because it would be great for my kids. the current pop-up we use is NOT waterproof....

    Great, thorough video! My tent poles aren't collapsing all the way. The arms bend but the center part won't let everything fold up to fit in the bag. It stays as a big square.

    My husband and I are Certified Survivalist a trick me and him learned that you can spray waterproof spray inside amd out for that size about 4 cans would hold up for a year or two even for living in it we have the ten person version of this tent amd we own a couple more tents by this company they are great for the price range but waterproof it inside and out even the walls and yours should be good for a long time we don't even get the dew inside ours with that trick od suggest doing that you will be surprised at the results

    My brother-in-law and sister-in-law brought one with them camping we had the 8 person Columbia tent. This tent she is showing was so much easier to put up and take down than the one we have. Ours was over 300.00 to put back in the carry bag was a pain. Ours was so heavy I could not put in my car. Theres was a lot lighter. So just giving you an observation of what I went through this weekend camping.

    • @xchick10

      Hey! Thanks for the compliment and sub. I have had to patch the floor a few times and used gorilla tape to do so. We typically use cots when camping in this tent and I don't generally put down a ground tarp underneath so it has accrued some damage. We are still using it and I was eying the 10 person unit at Walmart the other day because this one has been so awesome.

    Would you still recommend this tent after 2 years? I'm thinking about getting the 4 person version because its half the price of a similar looking Coleman instant tent and the Coleman even makes you buy the rainfly separately

    Tips on putting it back in the bag? i can't get mines to fit in it

    • @xchick10
      @xchick10  ปีที่แล้ว

      i usually have to fold it up then kneel on it while I roll it. I then tie it with some rope in at lease two places. I also unzip the bag in the field. At home when I take it out to dry I can do the same thing and zip the bag back up completely.

  • @djhewitt1666
    @djhewitt1666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just purchased the 4 person version, however, I am wondering if a 5'4" 69 y.o. would rather have this larger version. What would you suggest?

    • @xchick10
      @xchick10  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The light weight tent might be easier to put up but I think the taller tent would be nicer because they can stand to get in and out and stand to change etc. It also easily fits cots and/or air matresses.

      Tent is still going strong...I keep checking out the new larger ones but there is nothing wrong with mine. I have taped the floor in a few places. We use cots and we aren't careful so the floor has seen some stuff. Otherwise it is working out great.

    Can this be used at the beach?

    • @xchick10
      @xchick10  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can. The wind profile on this is kind of high...you'll want sand bags to act as stakes for sure. If I'm at the beach I try to sleep in the car because of the wind noise but this tent will work.

  • @ridiculousfishr9812
    @ridiculousfishr9812 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How are you going to reinforce the loop where the fly attaches? I just got this tent and feel the same way about that being a major area of concern.
    Great review!

    • @xchick10
      @xchick10  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have avoided putting the rainfly on the tent at all except for one instance when I knew it was going to rain. If in need to reinforce it I'll sew a patch on inside the tent and stitch the existing loop in better and maybe a new on that is a bit longer too...I'll use seam tape or glue to occlude the pin holes from sewing through the material if necessary. Hope that gives you an idea :)

    • @piney70
      @piney70 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just grab some extra cordage and stake it to the ground I stead of those loops.. Works better that way for us

    • @xchick10
      @xchick10  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use it as is with a tarp underneath (when I'm not being lazy). I also like having a door mat or two inside to be a landing for dirty shoes. I hope you like it. I still love mine.

    • @xchick10
      @xchick10  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@judithmartin1970 Putting a tarp underneath provides protection from rocks for the floor of your tent. One thing I have learned the hard way is you want your tarp to be the same size or just slightly smaller than your tent bottom footprint. When it rains, if you have a huge tarp sticking out the water will collect in between your tarp and tent bottom which can lead to wet tent bottom, wet gear, and potentially cause mold if the tent is stored wet. Happy trails!
