The very first time trying out this cool guitar amp plugin.
Full disclosure: As an endorsee of Neural DSP I got the plugin for free, but my opinions in the video are my own.

I have this plugin and I love it! It's tonal character is different than the Archetype Nolly (the other one I have). Basically, I have a Mesa JP2C with the Archetype Petrucci plugin, and a Peavey 5150 with the Archetype Nolly. Between the 2, I can get whatever tone I want.
Heard some Wintersun staples, some classic riffs and some tasty licks. Nice to see you smile, veli. Glad that you can still have fun.

It's Always sweet to see how people progress over the years from slapping together a metal band having that come out with legendary albums, to showing a different lifestyle and making TH-cam videos on Guitar Techniques as the years have passed . Definitely shows how much one singular man can accomplish in a lifetime and something to look forward to for future generations.

This man can make 5 albums every year if he wanted. With his equipment and knowledge, it’s not a problem. People will buy that shit in seconds. I honestly don’t understand why he just does not release music.
I started learning learning singing, playing and mixing 3 years ago. The mixing quality of my stuff if terrible, my knowledge is very little. It I keep releasing music and wrote and recorded over 100 songs.
It does not have to have Wintersun, if you just started your own side project I am sure it would be amazing songs, no constraints.
Wintersun is my favorite band. I love your music. I just honestly don’t insert why don’t you release any music.
Yeah, I know I am a millions person who asked that. This is coming from a place of admiration. Wintersun will be forever my favorite even if you don’t release a single song in the future.
You’re not the only one. 2017 was so long ago. Most bands today wrote 5 albums in that time, never mind 80s metal bands.

Jari, take your time. lately I've seen comments on the latest videos uploaded complaining of no new Wintersun content and whatnot, really toxic stuff. My point of view is: The music from Wintersun is excellent and if I don't get to try out a new album, I'd still be thankful for the products already delivered. Glad to see you more active on this channel :D

@@m41437 Did they enter an agreement where they delivered payment and received a new wintersun album in return? You can support a band, that doesn't mean you are receiving something back or that you have any right to demand a consideration, the difference is between what is called a purchase and a donation. You are free to donate or not, that doesn't mean you're getting anything back and shouldn't expect that :)
@@SweetChili1111 I mean, they did it (implicitly at least) as they even had a release date for the album. Don't get me wrong, donations are totally fine, but promising something and not doing it is questionable, and I believe the reason many people donated was because of the promised album. I don't complain as I haven't paid anything, but I think that those who did have the right to do so.
By the way, I don't think donations should be free of expectations, many organizations operate under donations and the money is expected to be used to allow the organization to operate.
@M He's working on the new album and there was no promised release date. It'll probably be done next year at this rate. The way you're framing the situation is wrong.
There's a certain low-merit band (who can't write a memorable melody to save their life) most likely doing coordinated raids on his social media, advertising their trash album, overall being rude and obnoxious. That's a significant part of the toxic behavior being referred to. I'll expose them if they keep it up. We don't do that in metal.

Awesome review of the Plugin, but It's also a Masterclass of right hand picking by Jari, slow it down to 0,5x
First preset sounds really good If I did not care about tweaking I would be happy with that sound, which is actually a big improvement on products of the past. I'm a broke tweaker though, so I'm using the free NAM plugin trying 5000 captures to always come back to some jake e lee spec modded diy JCM800 some guy on youtube build.

This was guitar straight into Universal Audio Apollo x8p interface's Hi-Z input on the front with no additional gain added. The guitars have EMG JH-B & 85 pickups, which are pretty high gain. No other EQs or effects in the video. If you follow the settings what I made in the video, you'll get the exact same sound.

My mother is pretty awesome, so you are right! And she even enjoys wintersun occasionally (especially the more orchestral and melodic stuff, like Time I and sons of Winter and Stars)
However, just like most of the community, she wishes Jari finally released Time II instead of doing fun, and fairly informative videos about plugins and guitars :)

First thumbs up for the Logitec mouse, G502 Hero? Second, it sounds amazing... However I'm not sure how much of that can be thanks to the plugin itself... Sometimes when I buy plugins based on commercial youtube video I'm not always satisfied, because people are using other EQ and compression plugins that they don't show, and spend hours finetuning the sound... Out of the box it sounded very good, so I wanted to ask this before I'm thinking about buying it... I'm looking for a plugin that has a decent noisegate, that does not behave like a "static gate"... Like when I turn it up it doesn't just reduces the signal and that's it, it actually filters out some of the peaking noise, something like Horizon precision drive... Is it guitar straight into the interface using the plugin only? I'm sure your guitar itself makes a huge difference too, I'm using Cort KX507MS mostly, or its 8 string variant. Can you help me with this please? I'm mostly struggling with reaching a tone that is reactive and crunchy enough and screams like a Nazgul, but at the same time it's clean.

I haven't really liked any Neural DSP products I've tried, honestly. I could never get the tone dialed in fully to eliminate that digital low end sound, even throwing a tube screamer in front of my DAW didnt help smooth them out like it normally would with other amp sims.
That being said, i never tried any of them for a mix, as I'm not much of an active composer, so YMMV

Is it too much to ask for new music Jari, It's getting so frustrating for us Wintersun fans. Just make something that sounds like your debut album that's what we all want, never mind hundreds of layers of instruments.

You don't need to be making vst commercials. You're wasting your talent and should have so damn many contributions in different genres and fields in the last 20 years. It's sad you don't have the motivation because it'll go from a very potent genius composer to a noname because of procrastination.
