Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game in which the player controls a character called Boyfriend, who must defeat a series of opponents in order to continue dating his significant other, Girlfriend. The player must pass multiple levels, referred to as "weeks", each containing three songs. Each week, the player faces a different opponent, though some deviate in structure from this via the inclusion of multiple opponents. During gameplay, the opponent will sing a pattern of notes (represented as arrows) which the player must then mirror by using the arrow keys or the W, A, S, and D keys. Some songs introduce more complicated patterns, with the player's pattern sometimes varying from the opponent's or both singers engaging in a duet.

I like to think that this is Ghost's Trainer after growing too old to carry out Ghost's evil deeds, with him having escaped Ghost at first but now finally deciding that he will no longer run from him, as Ghost has chosen his next host for another spree. He has caused countless deaths, but he wants to save at least one before his time is up.
I know that's not the actual lore but I think it's cool

I like the direction of Ghost puppeting another random trainer and was seeking Red as Red became old and frail and is no use to Ghost, and after using Curse the puppet and puppeteer will head to Jhoto to continue to spread its curse.

Old Man Red is staring at what can retroactively be described as his beast of burden. The one he unleashed in naivete oh so long ago. The past comes back to haunt those who lived it and did some less than savory things; even for those at the wrong place and the wrong time.
As of now, let's just say Karma has come to collect regardless even if the older and wiser Red knows better now than he did back then.
