    Keep the airbag indicator connected, if you don’t, it can send a false message to the computer. You may have to take the car to the dealer to reset it. You can leave all the wires connected, just turn the console right side up and place it on the dash.

    If I bought a wiring harness and dash kit for a 05 Grand Prix it should fit because it says til 05 right? These cars are all the same wiring right? Just nervous I bought the wrong stuff

    The red display lights went out in my 08 Grand Prix. I bought an exact replacement GM unit. If I replace it, will I just need to unlock the anti theft code or is there something else I need to do?

    Nice video. The thing that I noticed was your wire harness does not appear to allow that fancy OEM touchscreen navigation radio upgrade. What’s your thoughts on that.

    Do you will recommend to replace the radio/cd player for a different type of radio? would be complicated to install a newer radio cd player. in my 2004 GTP? In my car the radio is fine, the CD play, but I can't remove the CDs. Any help?

    I just purchased a 08 grand prix with 31,000 miles with a custom paintjob its gorgeous. I swapped out the stereo and you only need to remove screws from radio and climate control section, thatll give it enough play to get the hooks out.

    • @GPVlog
      @GPVlog  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bryan Gravlin You have a good point, but it takes what 10 extra seconds to get the bottom screws out? Gives you much more room to work with as well. Can you post a video of your car and your setup? I would love to see it.

    Changing to a aftermarket head unit was the first thing I did with my 07 base. The whole monsoon thing made it a real pain with buying the correct adapters and harnesses. I also put aftermarket 6x9s in and the monsoon amp also made it a pain with having four wires go to the speakers instead of two lol

Is the cd player inside this head unit and a separate unit that I can exchange out or do I need a new one. Thanks! Your video on door panel removal helped a lot. I had to replace the driver side mirror.

    Great video. Now you mentioned something about having to re program the radio . How is this done ? Im at the wreckers alot and I'm seeing different radios. Some are monsoon with CD. Some are MONSOON with CD and cassette. Some are non monsoon eith CD and cassette. But you say they all are interchangeable with the knowledge of reprogramming. Is this true ? And where did you go to get the reprogramming done ? I also saw other videos and they deal with XM SATELLITE RADIO MODULE located in the drivers side rear quarter panel behind the rear wheel housing behind the side wall carpeting. And the antenna is mounted on the rear of the roof and also has a lead wire going to the rear window were GM designed the radio antenna embedded into the glass . But that was on an 07 equit with non non monsoon radio . I know that the 04-05 's antenna is mounted at the front of the roof . I think GM re designed the location in 06 to the back of the roof .but im not 100% sure . Anyway thanks for the information and good video. You are well articulated in your presentation.
    Im still looking for information about how to totally remove the entire dash .Gm design team has these units pre assembled and installed on the assembly line but im trying to figure out how they did it . It's probably 10 bolts strategically placed but we don't know the procedure. To bad .I see videos where guys are losing money on jobs where they have to replace the heater core . Im willing to bet that 10 bolts removed could make things easier. But then again im not thinking about the what if's . Like maybe having a remove the steering column, bla bla bla . The knee bone is connected to thigh bone ,,,,you know how engineers love to make things more and more difficult.

    Hi I'm hooking up my buddies subwoofer system and replacing his stock deck with a double din kenwood. He didn't get the right install kit for the new radio but whatever. The harness is all wired up really good, antenna is in, and rca's are plugged in. Now there is one gray/black harness left (but no where to wire them on this aftermarket deck.) it's the smaller harness. Is this for chimes? And do these need to be wired up? Cuz we got it hooked up and stereo inst turning on. So I'm going to check if the deck is getting power or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much!

    what is the watt output on this???? being applied to 4 speakers? Lets say i wanted to put in some nice new speakers.. would this head unit supply the doors 1 tweeter and 1 mid sub on each door plus the 3.5 inch dash speaker.. would this or an aftermarket 50w x 4 speakers max head unit like some specs say?? would this be able to comfortably power all 5 speakers.. thxs

    • @GPVlog
      @GPVlog  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jlb7125 I dont have the specifics as far as output but I can tell you that this unit alone is no ideal without the monsoon amp that goes with it. The radio is designed to work with the amp. Without the amp you may as well rewire the entire system.

    • @jlb7125
      @jlb7125 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok.. On Cretchfield.com... They have the option to select what will work with the monsoon system as far as speakers....thx you!

    • @GPVlog
      @GPVlog  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      jlb7125 The speakers that come with the monsoon system are special 2 driver speakers. At least for the rears and for the door speakers. Thats how monsoon was able to call it a 9 speaker system even though there are only 5 actual speakers in the system.
      From what I have heard there is no aftermarket speaker that can match the stock speakers unless you rip out all the monsoon stuff and wire in your own setup.
      If you do replace your speakers and you choose monsoon you will need the amp to go with it or the speakers will be severely underpowered.

    Great walk-through! Thanks! I have the base 1-disc radio and was thinking of swapping it out. If I grab a used changer from eBay, do you know if I'd have any issue taking it to the dealer to reprogram?

    • @GPVlog
      @GPVlog  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should not have an issue taking it to the dealer. It will cost though. Many people upgrade to the stock nav units. In fact the reason I did this video was a request from a subscriber who is doing just that.

      You're going to need this part pac rp5-gm11for an aftermarket install. I think there are two different ones depending on if its single or double din HU. Heads up, gonna have some fun with it if you take out factory amp. I'd go ahead and get everything ahead of time so you still have tunes.
