come on, he did a good job here. all you guys bragging you can do it in one shot or using the excuse he does this stop often or a day cab driver I guess you never had a problem getting one in the hole. I've been at it 40 years plus and I am only a few years away from retirement but I can still clearly remember trying to get a tanker up against an unloading station in Quincy Mass. that gave me night mares as a rookie driver until a nice old timer took the time to show me how to get er in. anyone who does this for a living is a liar if they say they've never had a backing problem somewhere. be safe out there my fellow driver brothers and sisters and happy new years
Agree! And let me add, having worked shipping for years, he's probably used to a single axel tractor and got put in a double axel one on this day. It makes a difference, as I have seen.
It's a day cab, rear window is a game changer backing on the blind side.Been out here 34 years. Keep on Trucking! It's been a great living for my family and I. Thank you God!
Driver dod a good job.Notice how he stopped to let the pick up truck out.Showing some common courtesy. He didnt get in a hurry, slow and steady gets the job done.Who cares how many pull ups he did,he didnt oversteer one way or another and up up chasing the trailer.Again, good job driver. You are an asset to your company.I would hire you in a split second.
Yes he probably has done this before but I always say truck drivers are the best drivers on the road. My hat is off to anyone who could pull that off.🎩🚛
Now that my friend is some really impressive and skillful maneuvering going on there. I’m going to guess this is not a new big rig driver in training, and this is not the first tight bind they have been in. Well done with a demonstration of confidence.
He's been there and done that before. Do it enough times and you can actually get pretty good at it. Try it sometime. The guy just knows. This IS a difficult maneuver, though, and he aced it.
Most of the online" professionals " couldn't back a thimble sightside into a 55 gallon drum! He did just fine...didn't hit anything and succeeded! Nice work driver!
He's or she's ok. Setting it up like a "blind side" back with trailer wheels deeper in the driveway to end closer to you, with the trailer in a 45° and tracktor pointed down road, would create no pull up backing. Just hold the position till you clear the opposing tractor, straighen up and back in....😊😊😊😊( It's not about pull ups, its about doing it cleanly, lots of clearance, and keeping road block to a minimum. 38+ years/semi-retired)
There's a trick to that.. Rather than trying to aim, back and turn, he should have pulled further down the road before he started to do all that. You back up just like you're going to back straight down the road and then you get your trailer go start going off towards the driveway but keep your tractor backing straight down the road. The trailer will begin to turn on it's own while you back the tractor straight down the road without turning into parked vehicles or what have you. But that being said, why would you ever back up on the blind side? It wouldn't be my first choice! Nice job though for getting it done. No harm no foul.
One of these guys delivered to us yesterday backed in one shot blind side residential driveway and helped carry the box inside the house total professional
He did good. i did dollar general for 5 years and i know i wouodve stopped to poke my head out of the oassnger window 5 or 6 times. I had a sleeper ruck though. No back window to help see.
Sheet…. If he didn’t hit that Swift truck (didn’t look like he did) he did a jam up job on a blindside. Looked a little rough on the clutch there though , IDK
Did it fine ……off side backing sux even in a day cab ….i would have tried to cheat and gone around the block to do a cab side reverse but you can’t see obstructions behind camera so that might not have been possible …..plus who knows how hard it was to “go around the block “ . Weird concept also ….put the camera down , get off your arse and help the driver !!!
I do it all the time, but what's impressive about this one is how Smooth he does it. Every move calculated and executed effectively. Not to mention that swift truck was impeding his space. He had to back with outmost space he had down to half a feet. Notice when he backed, he did not stop to get out to look, he trusted his experience and followed thru.
What's hard to believe is why he had to pull up so many times. This place is a piece of cake compared to some I've seen.....and actually hit without pulling up.
Because the Swift truck was in the way so he had to pivot his trailer further over to prevent scraping it. Then when he did his pull up, the curb was in the way.
@TeeroyHammermill I saw the Swift truck was an issue but most of his pulling up was after clearing that obstacle. For some perspective, I saw a video years ago of a driver with a sleeper truck blindsiding into a parking space without pulling up at all; this was into a 2 1/2 truck wide driveway. I give the driver credit for not hitting anything no matter how many pull-ups it took to get in there. Trust me, the longer you're in the business you will see plenty of more spectacular maneuvers than this.

Big difference in a single and a twin screw!@@jasonhester727
I ran all over new England with a day cab some of the loading dock were built when trailers were 30 feet long . Not designed for 48-53 foot trailers
It's a day cab, rear window is a game changer backing on the blind side.Been out here 34 years.

Much respect. He is a true professional.

A good driver to be sure! Be blessed driver!
R+L I've worked with them in the past, good drivers for sure and willing to help out as much as they can. All round good people there.
From Australia, I take my hat off to you guys with your super long trailers and long rear overhang!
That R&L driver did a great job.
I THINK HE HAS DONE THAT A TIME OR TWO, NICE JOB DRIVER.
That's what we do ...
Yes he probably has done this before but I always say truck drivers are the best drivers on the road.
My hat is off to anyone who could pull that off.🎩🚛
That is what a professional driver does
Experienced city driver. Did it myself 30 years.
Good city drivers can put a trailer wherever you want it.. 👍👍👍🤠🤠🤠
Now that my friend is some really impressive and skillful maneuvering going on there. I’m going to guess this is not a new big rig driver in training, and this is not the first tight bind they have been in. Well done with a demonstration of confidence.
It's all about the set up
Driver side in that situation would have made more sense.
A friend is a team driver for R&L. Columbiana OH to Manchester NH every day, five days a week. Sleep one way, drive the other. Pulling pups.
He's been there and done that before. Do it enough times and you can actually get pretty good at it. Try it sometime. The guy just knows. This IS a difficult maneuver, though, and he aced it.
I thought the Swift driver was going to f up lol
Swift backing up?
@terrypetersen4361 no, the swift truck parked across the street lol
@@maddog3080 I know, I was pointing out that Swift drivers don't/can't backup
That was a city driver who had been to that location before.
Unfortunately most truck drivers can't drive forward let alone backwards.
Would have been safer to not back in on the blind side but that's just a old guys opinion, this person was very trust worthy of those behind him.👍👍👍
Nice monouvre.
In the UK, with our narrow roads and rural lanes, we often have to blind side reverse. No two jobs are the same.
Stay safe out there
That was some reverse, fantastic
Thankyou swifty. Nice parking
I noticed that too
Most of the online" professionals " couldn't back a thimble sightside into a 55 gallon drum! He did just fine...didn't hit anything and succeeded! Nice work driver!
I'd say the Swift driver parking where he did opposite the entrance didn't help anyone.
Just another great truck driver backing up a trailer to be loaded or unloaded. When your good, your good. Whoopy.
Good job doing that from the blind side. I was 31 years in the business and know what I'm saying

Most daycab drivers are better drivers due to all the small places that they have to go to. That was just a normal back into a wide entrance.
Thats a blind side backing. He did fine in my book.
It's a day cab . You can look out the back window to maneuver the trailer and the axis of rotation between truck and trailer is much shorter .
That wasn't that difficult he had plenty of room
Dude, I've seen day cab drivers do a horrifically bad job placing a trailer!
@JamesParker-jb8rp Their called rookies
@@davidtomlinson2239 yep

When you have a dedicated route, you can do things.

That's what we do , I deliver BEER , tight spots all day long . I run across more courtesy people than I do idiots . Git er done ...

I wouldn't have come from the blind side
You've must have never been a yard jocky ...
Sometimes you don’t have much choice, unfortunately
I blame Swift. They are always in the way and everything they touch turns to 💩

I’m betting that it’s an automated transmission. They can be extremely sensitive at times
Good job

I concur
Don’t know what the problem was
Looked like a normal day for that driver. Clean and simple, great driving
What problem?
Im guessing that when you filmed this, you have only had a cdl for about a week.
I see drivers do this virtually every day into much tighter spaces.
Subscription to my channel is an option for you.
With a day cab very easy, different story with long wheel base sleeper truck..
Obviously a no turban driver.
I usually unhook the trailer and push it in. Not today though.
Running Late Carriers did it like a pro
WhatsApp the problem; this is a normal way of driving.
Do that in a sleeper cab, and I would be impressed. 42 years OTR.

Better video would be watching that Swift trying to do that!😜
Look pretty decent to me only had two pull-ups to reset Then she her straight on in
looks like Laredo, Tx.
A truck turning around, what's the issue ?
He did a good job its called Blindsiding I did it a bunch of times
its a day cab...thats easy!
If all possible you don’t back in on the blind side.
Anyone who says they have never hit anything backing will lie about other things also
WTF, Driver you haven't been driving that long he's in a day cab it's easy to back up from the blindside if you know what your doing SMH
Cool story
Not real difficult in a day cab with a back window, very very difficult in a sleeper cab
Try it yourself
@@OnTheRoadBros I do it myself daily into parking spots. You get used to it, even if you sometimes have an off day.
He is driving a day cab with a back window he's not back ing up blind
Probably backs up more times in a day than most people drive forward Eakins of a job
He'd do it differently if he owned the trailer tires.
Just basic truck driving!
Did he cut in line to perform this maneuver?
Union driver
