- Halo as a franchise, especially back in the day, is really regonizable to a lot of gamers. So of course that means there is tons of Halo rip offs and Halo bootleg games. Which Halo bootleg games are the worst rip offs?

Spartan firefight is actually a good game and a passion project. It’s not a “ripoff.”
Heck yeah it is! Spartan Runner has a soft spot but Spartan Firefight is a core memory for ever for me!

Spartan Firefight was so much fun. I found it while I was waiting for MCC on PC and I loved it. It got pretty regular updates and has fun multiplayer. I appreciate the creator’s dedication to making it an homage to the old Halo games
I had the halo runner on my phone and I really enjoyed it. The retro look of the art style is just fun.

Halo Zero is a classic and beloved Halo flash game. He's playing with a controller or something and making it look way worse than it is. This scene deserves its own episode with games like Warthog Launch and Flash Halo CTF. Shockingly many of them have been ported to HTML5 and are still available in browser without any janky emulation. Some of them even run on your phone!
Warthog launch literally comes with the special editions of Halo 3 iirc, I remember playing it on launch thinking it unlocked something in the main game lmao

NOVA is a weird situation, the version on the app store rn is just a remaster of the first game which was absolutely a halo clone- the second one probably was too, but somehow for NOVA 3 they put out this absurd fully developed campaign shooter that was really good. I'm upset it's not available anymore.

I have Spartan Firefight on my phone and i play it when im bored.
From what i remember you can get credits for free and most customisation options can be unlocked without spending a single penny. There are some limited time cosmetics, but the rest is free. Fun game, i recommend it.
I wouldn’t call fan games “ripoffs”. I mean if it specifically tries to market itself as it’s own thing while using Halo-adjacent assets then yes, it’s probably a knockoff. But Halo Zero and the Spartan games are most certainly just fan projects.

Nova 3 is a masterpiece but nova legacy hurts me nova 3 was a big part of my childhood. Me and my friend played it and remember trying to beat the campaign. It was kind of hard because I didn't get past this one part. My friend never spoiled the end for me and when I started to play Nova legacy again it hurt me and I couldn't finish the campaign I know it's a remake of the first Nova game and that just like makes it feel like it's bad and plus I barely found people playing it
Was it the boss fight at the end? I remember it gave me trouble; kept soft locking

I remember seeing a Halo 2600 cartridge at a pawn shop. $40. I legit thought it was a bootleg & didn't realize it was a semi-official demake.
Nova 3 was such a masterpiece it’s a shame it got buried by the worst remaster in gaming

The Conduit series is honestly pretty solid all things considered. The story has this cool conspiracy aspect to it, there's some pretty fun and creative weapons, and for a Wii game, the online was surprisingly competent. The main thing holding it back was the controls. I wouldn't mind seeing a proper revival of it someday, but SEGA also has a ton of other series that are a higher priority to revive. The sequel also has an insane cliffhanger ending. If you've never seen the ending for The Conduit 2, do yourself a favor and look it up. It's ridiculous in the best possible way.
I'm happy there's someone that remembers these two games. I was there when both came out, as at the time I didn't have an Xbox to play Halo, so it was close enough.
A friend of mine I've met through The Conduit is still a friend today.
I mean nothing is wrong with the actual fan games.

Spartan Firefight deserves justice, its actually really solid and fun.
Man I missed infinite warfare and wished that part of the franchise was expanded upon definitely was my favorite of the three advance movement titles.
Okay I only played NOVA3, don't know about the other games in the series but NOVA3 is definitely not a rip off.
Different story, different lore, different gameplay and uniquely designed guns.
Unless every sci-fi super soldier game come after Halo with similar settings is rip off, NOVA3 is definitely not a rip-off

Spartan Run is actually a fun game! Especially when trying to pass time!
Spartan run & Firefight is actually VERY fun; they even have all the classic sounds. Firefight is like a full game; even has forge. I just see them as Halo games to pass the time on my phone. I don't think these games were necessarily created with malicious intent. I think they were just made by old fans, what with all the classic and nostalgic bungie stuff.
NOVA is more of a mix of Crysis and Halo

To be fair, I played so much of those nova games when I was little and I loved them.
The funny thing about NOVA is that 1 and 2 are Halo inspired but 3 became Crysis inspired instead.
I've actually played the first four games mentioned here, Spartan Fire fight, Spartan runner, NOVA the pixelated versions and the remake and Metal ranger. Although if you were to ask me which of the four was the worst it would probably be Metal ranger to be honest.

Halo Zero was also made by Doberman Studios, who made Spartan Runner and Spartan Firefight.
I actually had a teacher who worked on the Conduit, and he was pretty open about the fact that yea... the Wii just needed a cool sci-fi shooter.
As for Roblox... yea, it went from a platform to a shovelware pit. It's long gone, and all it exists for is to prey on ignorant kids, or kids desperate to play a certain type of game their parents won't let them have in another form.

Iiiiii'd have to disagree with the mobile games Nova and Metal Ranger being blatant Halo ripoffs. They look nothing like Halo at all and you can't really just take generic aspects like scifi, man in an armor suit, fps, aliens, etc and say "Halo ripoff". If anything, that encompasses so many IP's such as Doom, Starship Troopers, Warhammer, Mass Effect, Star citizen, you can even say the Alien series falls in this area. It has to have much more parallels than stuff that are generic, like the aliens looking a bit more closely to Halo covenant, where's the grunts? The jackals? All we got were humanoid invaders in Nova and bugs in Metal Ranger. The only parallel that might be halo was Metal Rangers' icon but that's about it.
Honestly, Anthem and Destiny are closer to Halo than those two imo, and yes I know the same devs blah, blah, blah. But, if we're going off purely different IP's and separated games, Anthem and Destiny are closer to Halo than those. If you look at anything with a lens of familiarity and you are very familiar with something, you too will draw similarities and say "copy" when there's no copy there. That's like saying Cyberpunk is a copy of Star Wars.

Arms craft was the Goat, I remember going to my grandmas house and playing arms craft on her phone back when my age was in the single digits, from what I remember it was great, so great.
I think honestly by adding refrences a lot of the true knock off games are actually making it more invisible since it is such a common thing for people to do
My favorite Halo rip-offs are Aliens 1986 and Starship Troopers 1997, the fact that these movies were able to copy Halo before it even came out is quite impressive. 😂😂😂

These bootlegs go from blatant and terrible to interesting and actually enjoyable. But all are proof that Halo is iconic and will stand the test of time. Especially when fans create mods of it for other games, developers put easter eggs into their games like with Fable, and AAA developers rip off the games to create their own crappy games.

Fun fact borderlands only exists because they wanted to make a game simular to halo and there are things that actually show through but throughr it's development it went from looking like halo and slowly more and more into borderlands
Star Wars Jedi Survivor also ripped off the Brute Chieftain and Gravity Hammer with a character in the game that’s in charge of a “Brute Army”.
Nova didn't look like a rip off. It just looked like it was inspired but that's it no rip off

Infinite Warfare honestly is a top 3 CoD campaign for me. The setting was so incredibly realized and like you said, it could have legit been its own sci-fi universe even outside of the CoD franchise. They did not need to put that much effort into thinking up a setting for a single sci-fi CoD game but they really went all in with it. There was a lot of love put into making sure the world felt grounded despite being decades in the future and it shows in the small details like the downtime aboard the Retribution. The characters were superbly well written. The only real issues I had was the lack of exploration of the enemy faction and them being just nameless cartoony villians (an issue that IW had with its other standalone CoD, Ghosts) and how barebones some of the extra missions were. If the Jackal sections were expanded into its own thing, I'd definitely be willing to play that game.

Roblox has an entire tree of different groups that have their own communities of halo groups. Each group is owned by a separate person and each group has their own game and discord for organizing personnel. The games when you join them seem like nothing but open land but that's because the game is a sort of a blend of role playing and military simulator where you can choose to join a faction: UNSC or Covenant. From there you have to attend trainings held by real players to work your way up the ranks, so it's not so much of a "join and play freely" game as it is an organized military simulator. With smaller groups, the majority of the time there will be little to no players online unless there is an event being hosted by an HR. I used to be in one of these groups and I actually modeled assets (mostly for the covenant faction of this one group) like elite player models to an entire SDV class Corvette. These games can actually be really fun messing around in once you're in a faction. For instance, there were spawnable warthogs in our game that would explode when their health was depleted, so we used to "car bomb" the enemy team while they were trying to organize a massive training by driving towards their formation, jumping out of the hog sending it into the middle of the crowd and ending it's last bit of health by blowing it up with a rocket launcher. There are rules and moderation to these games too so its especially funny the shenanigans and chaos you can cause at times

iirc Spartan firefight used to be called "Halo: Out with a whimper" I played it years back under that title.
I never realized how similar IW was to Halo. The good guy's dropships are both named after birds and look very similar, the ringworld map exists, your friendly AI 'dies' and the SDF are basically Insurrectionists

19:01 That is a group game, group games are games that are made with in platform groups, one group for UNSC, and another for Covenant, its a community type thing, there is a UNSC base, covie base, and a civilian spawn for visitors. A lot of those games and groups are "dead" meaning their communities lost interest and parted ways, making the game have no activity whatsoever.

I kinda liked NOVA. I think the game I played was called N.O.V.A Legacy. I enjoyed and didnt even thought that it was a uh "rip-off". I wouldnt call it one since its been years since I played it and back then. I didnt knew Halo soo I didn't thought much about it. Kinda sad that it cant be downloaded anymore, was part of my childhood.

Spartan Runner and Firefight have more soul than Halo 4. Also from the same studios, try Halo Zero. It's basically a full 2D demake of Halo CE. It was very good.
The fake online game at the beginning is a game called anthem where you do missions in the EXO suits (or Jevlins) I play it a lot also it’s only available on Xbox as far as I know

I don’t know what you’re going on about, the spartan runner and fire fight are clearly fan games even the developer says it’s a fan game. Also what do you mean rushed, I can tell you first hand that making any type of game is hard and it’s real hard to make pixel sprites, I can spent hours on pixil gif or drawing and it’s always a second long and looks “rushed.” Also none of the assets are reused, have you seen any pixil stuff in Halo? If it was copy and pasted it would be 3D.
I feel like its a little unfair to call some of these "the worst ripoffs to ever exist."
It seems every Halo game up until 5 was hollow, now the franchise is on track, better gameplay, more manly, less girly and focused. Thank god the devs have woken up
