    I use my 36 inch wrecking bar for staples. After I hit the tack strip right at the nail I lightly pry up and it lifts the tack strip right up without snapping it. I used my grinder to sharpen the flat tip of the pry bar and you barely push it across the floor and the staples come up effortlessly! The weight of the 36 inch pry bar does all the work and the metal is really hard on the bar so it doesn’t get dull like a scraper does! Another bonus is you do it standing. Try it I promise you will agree! I found your channel tonight. You have good content!

    Suitably inspired by this to experiment with what I had on hand. Found a decent speed up using a paint scraper and 3 pound hammer. The key is the sharp edge that grabs even low staples. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Gotta love it to when the previous installer when stapling the pad down, was smashing the hammer stapler as hard as possible sinking the staples all way in. That just makes the job little harder the next time.

      That is the old floor underneath what was the carpet. Normally you would install whatever you're changing it to on top of that even if your putting in a wood floor and if you did decide to use the floor he is working on as the Finish you would have to sand is so much to begin with that any scratches he's going to make on the Surface wouldn't matter cuz they will be sanded out

    • @cjay3543
      @cjay3543 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I was shocked to see him use that. The more he scratches the floor the harder it will need to be sanded to refinish it. The more it needs to be sanded the more it lessens the life of the floor. Sheeeeesh! I guess I’ll go back to my pliers. One by one….

  • @mrpb6399

    I like to have the pad still on the floor for cushion and pop and pull the staples with my 5 in 1 and needle nose pliers. Then put the old staples and pad chunks on the pad and roll it up. Saves you from getting up and down too much.

    hey does this actually remove the staples or just cut the head of the staple off? if i rip carpet off timber floors its so i can polish the timber, not cover it. So would the left over pieces of staple be a problem?

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    If I don't make it to Home Depot to buy this tool or a steel blade for my multi-tool. I plan to use the scraper I already have to remove staples from a sub floor that I added duct tape to to form a not big enough ball. That my hand is still sore today from using yesterday. This mobile home square head screws that attached them to the wall that I had to use a saws all to remove and the paper left from the vinyl floor, has been the hardest part of this demo. If I were a Catholic, I'd be in confession right now for all the bad words I used yesterday.
