    I may be slowly dying from whatever in my house is poisoning me... yet another bout of online research led me to the concept of dust mites, and how carpet is the worst thing ever for those (and germs/indoor air quality in general).
    I was legit bawling with overwhelm about how I could ever possibly tackle a project like this by myself, but then I saw this video!
    Alex -- this video made me believe I can potentially remove the carpet in my house myself to reveal the hardwood underneath, but most importantly, I laughed more than I have in a very long time. And I may have needed that more at this moment!
    "It's never too late not to start." 🤣
    This has sadly been my motto the whole time I've lived in my house, but it sure made me LOL at the end of this video.
    Thank you so much for this video!

    Informative and what a great upbeat personality, thank you for posting this video. Question: I have ( slight ) water damage that caused my low pile rug to ripple / buckle and what an eye sore it is. The length is about two feet long and approximately three inches wide and to make this worse I find myself tripping over it on occasion. I rent a one bedroom so removing the furniture is not an option. If it were up to me I wouldn't have any rugs at all but the landlord wants to keep noise levels up here low. Could you recommend
    any DIY's ? Thanks in advance 🌹

    • @AlexWehrley
      @AlexWehrley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words! What's your goal? To reduce noise without rugs? You could consider peel and stick flooring.

    • @pumpkinpie7254
      @pumpkinpie7254 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexWehrley Struggling with getting my ice cube trays in my mini fridge caused the rug to ripple in that area ... I’m disgusted because since then that little appliance has been given away and the ripple remains ... I had no say in the carpet that was installed about 4 years ago and when I realized it wasn’t a traditional bedroom carpet I had to “ go with the flow “ ... Keep my mouth shut and hate the texture of this rug when I walk barefoot so I don’t ... Walk on it with special flip flops ( dedicated to the room only ) ... Nothing I can do now as far as “ a goal “ ... I was thinking of a creative way of fixing the ripple ... I saw someone on TH-cam who pierced the ripple gently pulled it taught and injected a glue so the rug would bind to the padding but scared of piercing ... So sorry for the rambling but to make matters worse my landlord cheeped out and didn’t purchase a quality padding, ugh ... Thank you so much for your response, it means a lot .

    Can’t believe people would cover up wood floors. That’s why I’m always hesitant to join in on any new “trend” that comes along because I have no idea how dated it would look ten years from now. I try to do timeless designs and not follow trends

    • @meekaboi
      @meekaboi ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have wood floors in every room in our 1968 house and they're a huge pain in the ass with dogs and/or kids. The floors are beautiful but stained in many areas due to the previous owner using them for 60 years, despite their getting the floors professionally restored. On the day to day, I would very much prefer high quality vinyl planking that I could replace in the future.

    • @PDXcitable
      @PDXcitable 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@meekaboi I'm a huge fan of hardwood floors aesthetically. But if you have a multi-floor home, be prepared for a lot more sound to travel between floors after you rip out the double layer of acoustic sound barrier that is carpet and padding.

    FYI, if you know or are hoping to have nice hardwoods underneath and the carpeting doesn't come up as easy is in this video (it rarely does), cut a strip out of the corner and use that as your starting point. And keep in mind tack strips are usually about 1-1/2" wide. So you've got that buffer to cut on, anything more than that and you risk cutting into that nice hardwood you're hoping to preserve. If you need a bigger pull cutout than that, just retract your knife blade so less is sticking out so you only cut carpet and not all the way to the wood beneath. And if you don't already have a pry bar, do yourself a favor and get a flat bar lick a Wonderbar.
