i actually think the graphical limitations made the effect better. because of the visual lag the burst of the missile looked like some kinda gamma ray-ish thing

You know what would kick ass? A remake of this game from the Yuktobanian perspective.
This theme is just incredible, the tension and the atmosphere expressed in this piece are just mindblowing. And while this theme is playing you hear members of allied squadrons struggling. This game is a masterpiece with one of the best soundtracks ever made. Really need an HD remake of AC5. It deserves one.
this song.... hearing the sonar was bad enough, you knew something big was coming... and then to see that beast surface for the first time with the music to accompany it?! god that was the scariest and most adrenaline pumping moment of my childhood right there when it came to PS2. NO game could top the feelings this game pulled from you! When i first played this mission i KNEW it was far too easy. just knock out landing craft, stay low and strafe. Simple right? I still remember facing this monster and her sister ship for the first time. The Scinfaxi earned the nickname "The Submarine from hell" out of me! Then when you saw she had a sister you knew round 2 was going to be something else!
It moves from "Oh, we are fucked" to "Wait, that's the arkbird, we might have a chance" before finally peaking at "the demon finally revealed itself, it's time to end this once and for all." Man, I love this game.

The track alone is anxiety-inducing, but when you were there, hearing it as people were screaming at you to climb for dear life as all of most of your fellow soldiers who were just brand new pilots getting slaughtered screaming that they didn't want to die? that still brings a helpless feeling of anxiety to me.

This track just makes me go: "Finally! The boss reveals itself!' Burst missiles never bothered me. Climb. Dive. Shoot. Climb'.Stonehenge: Now that was a superweapon. You know death is coming when the incoming rounds shake your screen and make the bass rumble ten seconds to impact. Get low and hotdog through a canyon, because you'll be swatted out of the sky if you don't. Hypervelocity Concussion rounds will do that to you.
