Thanks DH, this is one the fondest gaming memories from my childhood. I was 8 years old and I would do fake mech combats with my friends in the school yard. This game triggered my imagination like no other!
In terms of storytelling, I consider this to be the best MechWarrior game. Excellent banter between your supporting units that really gets you into the feel of being lost on a planet in the midst of a seemingly impossible mission. Had some awesome mechs too that changed a lot depending on what you were lucky enough to salvage.
Personali MW3 is the best classic game ever, much more realistic then MW4 :) and I hope Piranha game's dont fuck this up with MW5 and I REALY hope that George Ledoux aka Duncan Fisher will comeback in this game XD
I did that on a Supernova, me was like, "large lasers are pretty effective, I wonder if I can one shot mechs if I fire them all at once"... And boom... It actually became a Supernova... It killed three of my lancemates I think... And left a huge crater that stayed there even after reloading the map... It was crazy... Any way, that's how I lost my mechwarrior license...
The Bushwacker, my favorite mech... Come to think I thought it was a worn down MadCat when I was a kid, and I would find more of its components during the missions. Nevertheless, it grew in my hearth, the good ol' bushy.
Why did they change the names for some of the Mechs? For example Timber Wolf to Mad Cat, Mad Dog to Vulture and Summoner to Thor. I can name others but you get the point.
Clan names vs. Inner Sphere reporting names. For example, the Timber Wolf (clan name) was referred to as the Mad Cat by the IS due to looking like a cross between the IS 'mechs the Marauder (MAD) and the Catapult (CAT).
i always thought that mechwarrior 3 looked better than 4. 4 had more robust enviromental detail at the cost of mech models looking very flat and un-inspired. mechwarrior 4 mercs was amazing but mechwrrior 3 being my first hits me in the nostalgia
MW4 definitely is my favorite, but the mech detail in 3 was so much better. Being able to blow off legs and actually see the armor that was missing from mechs was really cool. MW4 just had black splotches on the places you hit. That being said, I did like the designs in 4. I'll always prefer the Vulture in 4 over the original design, as well as the Daishi.
The mech detail was definitely higher in many respects with MW3, but the environment detail was a massive leap forward in MW4. Also, nothing tops the animation quality of MW4.
18 'mechs. Smallest variety of any Mechwarrior game to date aside from the very first MechWarrior. A lot of good ideas in this game, but overall it's like one third of a finished product. Total disappointment.
Good times... I modeled and animated all of these back in the day, glad you liked them
What he said^
also thanking you dan, and for gw2
Thanks Dan. I played in 1999 and we are still keeping the game alive in 2020.
That’s awesome.

This game will never be matched... it was incredible.
You’re incredible disaster theory.
I used to play this all the time when I was little, along with Revolt and a Lego Alpha Team
remember running a full PPC build with my anihilator, shoot them all at once and blow to pieces, good times

Love this game with microsoft sidewinder force feedback joystick
For me its was sunder i like best
and here I'd ask if ya can do a version of this that features that, AND the Pirate's Moon expansion mechs.
Cauldron Born is still the most bad ass name ever.

am i crazy or isnt there supposed to be a mech called rhino who had the tri-missles???
There is the "Stone Rhino" but it's from Mechwarrior 2.
Takes me back great game
Shadowcat stacked with ER Mediums.
Thor with LRM's, uAC's, masc and Artemis fire control.
Ah yes, the bane of every online lobby.
i definately like the arms on legs designs for Shadow Hawk and Cauldron born. they look way cooler than mwo versions.
This looks better than MechWarrior 4...
Mechwarrior 4 was a huge let down.
@@pussydestroyer87 still fun to play, a bit more fast paced than MW3, and the Mektek pack was lit

Eh... Computer sounds better here than in Mechwarrior:Online....
The Annihilator was my favorite.
You forgot Atlas!
Thanks, completely forgot about that if actually acknowledged that :D I was like 4-6 years old when was playing MechWarrior 3.
Hey, I'm pretty sure Atlas is only in Pirate's moon, not MW3 basegame
