Thank you for making this video. Last night, I was talking with a friend I met online last year about Lutheranism and it was really helpful. I turned my back on it for a few months cause I did research on Martin Luther as a person and it left a sour taste in my mouth. Now that I know more about Lutheranism, I'm willing to accept the denomination fully this year. 🙏
That’s so amazing! I’m currently going through the same journey with trying to convert
Thanks for sharing your experience with it. I hope the video helped you get a basic understanding of it. 🙏🏼
Oh crud.......I don't wanna reopen an old wound, but.....what did he do? 😢
I've been researching so I could step up my denomination knowledge, and I came across the Protestant Reformation, and we had Martin Luther to thank for it. In light of what was going on at the time, the Reformation was necessary.
How bad did he mess up? 😭😭😭
@Six3rdy well, after he renounced Lutheranism as a religion, he went on to hate Jewish people, which ended up becoming a catalyst for the Holocaust during WW2.
@@Six3rdyHe didn't mess up, the Pope did by excommunicating him. Luther simply wanted to reform the Catholic Church, remove paid indulgences, papal supremacy, transubstantiation, etc. And for that, he got excommunicated even though he had pretty strong reason to post the 95 theses at Wittenberg.
This very good video and the illustration.I have loved it.
Glad you’re back! Thanks for the useful information, and as always, keeping it objective!
No problem! Thanks for being an amazing supporter 🤩
It must be cool looking back to when you started this channel, and now seeing how it has really taken off. Always enjoy your videos
Yes, it is really cool to see. It's taken a ton of work, but I'm happy to know you're still enjoying the channel! Thanks for supporting it.
This video is excellent! I love all of your videos.
Glad you like them! Thank you! 🙏🏼
Hey Illustrate to Educate, happy new year! Here’s to a new year with new content to enjoy from your channel! Looking forward to seeing your videos coming from your channel of Imperialism vs Colonialism, Occupation vs Annexation, Bourgeoisie vs Aristocrat, what is Realpolitik, etc.
Oh man! So many good suggestions! Yes you can expect to see those topics covered this year. Hoping 2025 is a great year for you! Thanks for being a supporter 🙏🏼
Love this!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Enlightened stuff!❤
Glad you like it! ☺️
Excellent video.
Thank you very much! 😌
Good video Dan. Glad that your back. Did miss ya. Are you going to do a recap video on 2024? 👍
Good to hear from you to. Sorry about the disappearance from TH-cam, but I’m glad to be back at it again for 2025.
Unfortunately, I won’t be doing a Top 10 video this year. Surprisingly, they don’t seem to get much traction with the TH-cam algorithm. I really enjoy making that type of video and I’m glad to hear that at least you were looking forward to it. I may try it one more time for 2025. 🤔
@@IllustratetoEducate Ok, I'll be looking forward to your future videos. Keep up the good work Dan. 👍
Hi Mr Zimmerman, I was wondering if one day you could do a video covering pantheism and the variant variants of it, please?
Sure could! I’ll look into it. Thank you for the suggestion. 🙏🏼
One correction and a few minor points: Lutherans believe in predestination, just a less extreme version of it ("single predestination") than Calvinists do (double predestination). This is important because Lutherans don't believe you can choose to have faith in God like the Arminian denominations do. Following this, Lutherans make a strong distinction between belief (accepting the truth of a claim) and faith (trusting something), so Lutherans agree with atheists that babies can't believe in God, but say babies can have faith in God. Finally, there is an important distinction between the civic role of the church and the spiritual role in the church. Unlike Catholics, Lutherans believe that any person may validly perform eucharist or confession, but only clergy should perform them licitly.
Thanks for the clarification on those points!
I enjoy these, but some of the finer points get lost.
Do you plan on eventually doing a compare and contrast type video for protestant denominations?
I can definitely see the benefit of doing that. Thank you for your feedback and suggestions.
Now do Calvinism
I’ll put that on the list to do in the next couple months. I appreciate the suggestion. 🙏🏼
I don't know how you do a video about Lutherans and not mention that it's split .... evangelic vs. Missouri.. this isn't exactly a small detail
Get out of my head😂😂😂😂
I have watched several of these videos and they have only served to reinforce my skepticism regarding Christian "faith". All described sects claim to be the one true version yet vary enough to imply none are "correct". There can only be one truth. Religion was invented by man, out of seeming necessity, to explain the unexplainable. Religion (not only Christianity) invented god, in various forms, to explain and legitimize religion. All the constructs of man, with many men throughout history using it to enrich themselves and bludgeon illiterates into submission. If there is a "god" I suspect he bears little resemblance to the common depiction. I do not fault believers as organized religion keeps many in line for a civil society but has just as much brought suffering and death in its name...
