Yep, the days of managers looking for 'more effort' and having half ideas is gone. Plenty of them still abound in this division, but their days are numbered.
Superb analysis, as always. The extent of our rotation is often difficult to track in real time, and the model demands massive team concentration but appears to be getting better week on week. Happy happy days!
I absolutely love these videos! Extremely grateful to have them. I’m abroad for almost all of the season so can’t watch many of the matches so it’s class to catch up on here and the tactical analysis is superb!
Thanks Trenchy, and you would be right... I didn't spot that tactical master-class from Regis with the center halves opening up the space for Dan, all happens so quick and naturally now! 😂 But a great eyefrom you for picking up thsse small details mate. So good to see a coach, in the Sunderland dugout, who can alter his tactics for the opposition. Seems we have a basis we work off, but can be changed around depending on opposition, and the players all know their roles, even when slotting into another position on the pitch. Such a massive difference to Dodds-ball from last season. Appreciate the effort you put into these, and the shout outs! Well deserved the support you're getting marra 🤙🏼
I cannot express my gratitude at your continued support enough Kris. I am very happy to be delivering a Match of the Day just for Sunderland fans. Glad you like the tactical stuff, you'll spot those centre half runs all the time now. RLB is doing a great job, I just want to rack up as many points as possible before teams start to work us out. Fingers crossed for another 9 point week.
I think this performance firmly cemented our credentials as a promotion candidate. We were simply too good for Oxford. A joy to watch. Lets hope we can keep it up. 🇵🇪🇵🇪 Oh, and a very Happy Birthday marra. 🍾🍾
SAFC released a 'Dan Neil, All the touches' video similar to (but not as good as) the multitude of player analysis videos you have released during your channel's life. It was a visual display of Dan's positions, touches and passes, and it served as a timely reminder of the player's ability after a few weeks of less than perfect performances that drew questions and criticism. BUT... the beauty of YOUR videos are your editing style, voice over explanations, and even labelling the player so that us viewers with less than 20/20 vision can locate the relevant player instantly as the clip starts without the need to scan back and forth... "Oh, there he is, yes, ohhh next clip...". In this video, you have clearly identified Dan's role, his movements and just as importantly, the REASONS for his positioning in the team and the role he has been learning. For years we have been used to seeing him further forward, playing in and around that zone 14 more and making more regular bursts into the box with shots at goal. Yes, he will still do that, but I for one, now appreciate how Le Bris has redefined his place in the team and how Dan and every other player fit into their roles in the team. YOU do this!! and that is one of several reasons why I eagerly await your uploads. LIKED, SUBSCRIBED and SHARED with a few friends with just a little hint of smugness 😂 Thank you Sir.
Hi Alt - Brilliant vid. In other times, this was the type of game we might have lost. 'Typical Sunderland' is no more - I guess that means we're atypical Sunderland now.
Another excellent breakdown of the game. Regis must be an excellent communicator to get the defence and midfield rotating like that. That flexibility gives options and it appears to be working. Also, nice touch with the ghost of Thierry Henry after Isidor's goal. HWTL 🔴⚪🔴⚪
That Henry bit I slipped in is my favourite. I'm glad someone noticed. Good to see you in the comments again. I agree RLB has worked wonders in such a short space of time.
The controlled possession was a joy to watch. The outstanding distribution from the center backs was the platform that set it up. It's no coincidence that Neil shone when we had that much of the ball and he had Isidor make runs in behind. One of the shrewdest things RLB has done is to let him play his way back into form. HIs after-match comments about playing deeper that it had aided his development and he was happy to play there for the team also tell us that he doesn't see this as his long-term position. This was backed up by his saying he would welcome Hendersons return which if he played would release him to play further up the pitch. The lad has sacrificed his natural game since Evans got injured. The midfield balance at the moment is really good but we need to get the most out of Neils undoubted talent.
@ always make time to catch these videos with a coffee - in middle of senior journalism exams so taken a back seat to creating atm. Likewise, thanks mate.
Another brilliant video (looking forward to the Neil one when it comes out… maybe over the international break to help alleviate the boredom? 👀). Why do you think we’ve struggled so much last 2 games given how well we’ve played at times this season?
Let's see where we are. Definitely short at full back. I just want us to keep racking up the points as much as possible atm. Hope you are enjoying the subscription and telling everyone they should be here.
Bellingham is a defensive beast as well mind, something Gerrard wasn't. He's already one of the best midfielders in the League. I'm very grateful for your recent subscription by the way. Spread the word marra.
Genuinely think Jobe is one of the best players in the league at the minute, potentially only behind Borja Sainz who is a joke of a player, especially for this level.
Absolutely he is. Bossed every game except the Leeds game. If he improves at the same rate then next year we'll have one hell of a player on our hands.
If Henderson was in Neil's position in this match, we would have struggled and wouldn't have been as easy Another fantastic breakdown of our tactics 👏🏻 Can't wait for the next one
@ArchieFatcackie watch the video again, Dan Neil's calmness and footwork in dangerous areas of the pitch plus his vision was brilliant in this match. Its my opinion and I stand by it.
@ I’m not doubting Dan Neil I’ve said that. There’s no reason to believe Henderson with all his know how, experience and ability couldn’t give an equally adept performance.
Unless Samed isn't actually a real person, I don't see why we would want to sign Henderson. We've got enough cover atm and he will either not play or take the place of players who we are developing. I don't think we need him.
A Sunderland fans prayer. Could you help us win promotion Lord And gain entry to the Prem, Could you arrange the seasons fixtures Lord So, we play every game at yem, Can i have one more wish Lord I hope it's not to much hassle Could you put our neighbours in the bottom three And relegate Newcastle.
Love how we're playing. Regis has brought something different to the club and it shows on the pitch. Your analysis is interesting but by doing these aren't you giving the opposition, insight on how we're playing.❤STID. FTM.
Finally having a modern tactical no-nonsense coach - its such a breath of fresh air.....

Indeed, it's been a long time since I've seen us look too good for any other team
Thank you Altending. Love watching these.
Some of this play is just sublime. Thanks again Alt for pointing out passages of play we miss in real time, keep up the good work. HWTL
A pleasure sir. Our very own Match of the Day service. We do play lovely football don't we. Fingers crossed for today.
Great analysis as usual. Really look forward to these video's every week.
TY Sir and for taking the time to write those kind words. It makes all the difference.

You're right I do. Although I get this sort of thing isn't for everyone, but tell everyone you know that they need to see it.
Brilliant mate as always 👏 keep up the great work..
RLB has been a great find he is very reader and plans each game with aplomb, the futures bright it’s red and white.
Quality as always bud - the effort and quality of these are always fantastic.

Have to say this was probably the best football ive seen us play. Even the bloke behind me who hates neil was praising him
your match reviews are excellent sir. thanks a lot
TY, but to be fair the team are giving me some excellent material to work with these days.
Enjoyed that. Happy Birthday mate!
Another brilliant video (looking forward to the Neil one when it comes out… maybe over the international break to help alleviate the boredom? 👀). Why do you think we’ve struggled so much last 2 games given how well we’ve played at times this season?
Luton is the type of result that will see us promoted, but most impressive about this was even after the toughest week, we didn't drop standards.
Yes it will. I was there and very much enjoyed it.
@altending southern softie :)
I am these days. It also took me three days to recover from the skinful of beer I had.
@@altending I'd be happy with 3 days now lol
Reinforce in Jan to account for inevitable injuries and it could be a century point season, But we lose a Cirkin or a Jobe and things might get tricky

I've heard Paolo Maldini likes to have a glass of wine, close his eyes and imagine he was as good a footballer as Luke 09.

There’s a few minutes of blank space at the end of the video…….
Space for dreaming
Ahhh thanks for that. I've trimmed it in YT so it should be corrected in an hour or so.
Fractured shin? Where's this come from? He's out for the season if that's true.
Well I could be wrong, but it's what I heard. Just a small one. Word is he should be back midweek or next weekend?
The squad is doing it not individuals.
Excellent review. Opposition managers could do a lot worse than watch your vids 🙄
Thanks again Paul...if they could make it a full time job, that would be great.
