G-Shock G-LIDE GWX5700 In Depth Review and Tutorial

- This is the first time I bought a G-LIDE watch, which is normally marketed to surfers. In many ways this G-Shock GWX-5700CS-1 shares my favorite functions and features of G-Shock Squares. It has Tough Solar (to automatically charge the battery through exposure to everyday lighting), Multiband 6 (to automatically set itself to the correct "atomic time" and maintain accuracy as long as radio reception is good), 20-Bar or 200 Meter water resistance, five alarms (one of which is a snooze alarm), an hourly signal, a one-hour stopwatch, a power save mode and an electro-luminescent backlight with an automatic option. But it also has a unique, dual-interval, repeating countdown timer along with a Tide Graph and a Moon Phase indicator. This model can also show what the Tide and Moon will be doing on future dates.
This watch uses Module 3215, which is the same module used in the GWX-5600 models. The negative LCD version of this module is listed as Module 3222 and has all of the same functions for the negative LCD variations of GWX-5600 and GWX-5700 G-Shocks. The first watches to use these modules were introduced in the year 2010 and the most recent version was released in 2021. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

My oldest G-Shock is the G-Lide DW- 003 with the 1847 module from 1994! I have changed the battery once and it runs perfectly!

I bought this same 5700 module and popped it into the GW-5000u bezel and strap and it’s the perfect square in my book!
Love this G from my teenage time... 80's ... And now in 2024 i still bought the latest... Oh my.... I git this series in 201x forget the excact year 😅😅😅

Because I already have too many other Casios. Or watches, for that matter.

You certainly made their sales increase a lot!

For the record, nobody from Casio has ever contacted me (or, if they did, they certainly didn't tell me they were from Casio). I have every reason to believe that the folks at Casio have no idea my little TH-cam channel exists. But, hey, I managed to pay for a lot of watches (with my own money) and I like them a lot. And Father's Day is right around the corner... and my kids like me... So...
@@GoodTimekeeper the folks at Casio definitely SHOULD be aware of your channel, which is not-so-little, as far as its mania-spreading power is concerned.
As far as father day is concerned, my children have no buying capacity yet, and my wife definitely should NOT be aware of all my Casio-related purchases.
And that’s why I just bought myself this very watch (the gwx) plus the “original” (the dw-5750).
The dw-5750 is one of two Casios that “ started it all“. I was in 5th grade and there is a specific episode regarding that very watch which made me fall in love with the brand.
Of course it was not me who had it, but a friend who had, let’s say wealthier parents.
But now, 35 years later, I can finally have it (albeit not with the screw down back, but still…).

I have the gwx 5600 1jf and love it. Switched the strap out for the white version's one. Really takes the busy colors down a notch and procides nice contrast

Bought this using Buyee from the UK. Looks great as it is but I've put a DW5600BB bezel on it, look even more classy now, and quite stealthy. Black bars over the bezel go well. It's now my favourite G.
I have no issue receiving Atomic Time syncing here in Mississippi. When I've been in Florida around Orlando, I had slightly more difficulty getting a signal (about 80% of nights). That's true for Citizen watches and all my Casio G-Shock Multi-Band 6 watches.
I'm also wearing this watch. But I didn't know the settings can be very complicated 😁 I set the tides settings to "Tanjung Priok" automatically.
That looks exactly like a Casioak, but a bit smaller. That negative display is nice!
Wish I had this watch while I was living I Iqaluit Nunavut. Some of the highest rides in the world.
A radio controlled clock I had at that time was able to receive the Fort Collins signal, so multiband 6 shouldn't be a problem even though it's a long way from Colorado.
I WISH they would update this line and the 5600 (GWX-5600C-7JF) with Bluetooth and MIP!! Please hear me Casio :)

Neat watch
If you ditch the absurdly shiny factory strap on the GWX-5600, and put it on an olive drab NATO strap it suddenly becomes the best looking G-Shock ever made. The orange/ red/ teal accents on the face provide the perfect contrast to a somewhat more subdued od green strap, and gives it a hint of field watch that just really works. 100% best G-Shock ever.
I know that Greg only does factory straps, but I feel like he deserves to get about 80 strap adapters, and 150 nylon straps for his watches. So much fun to be had...
I want him to buy a GA-2000 and review it and do a 2 hour long video on how to change all the settings, lol. He was very quiet after Daylight Saving, I hoped he was ok and not spending 10 days resetting all his watches/clocks.
I absolutely love the function of that countdown timer. With the repeating and the two different settings. I don't know what I would use it for, but I definitely want it on my watch.
It’s very useful if you do interval training or those exercises which are called “emom” ie each minute on the minute. Example: doing 10 push-ups at the strike of every minute.
And that’s why I have to get one of these g-lides!
I would like to suggest that you should review an underrated G-Shock which is the G-2900. It would be interesting to know your take on it.
I have two g2900, I think they’re great little gshock : good for my tiny wrist and with a 10 year battery life!

Excellent video on the functions of this watch. Greg, are you aware of any G-Lide watch which has a barometer? If a G-Lide had Tide and barometer that would be perfect for surfing, fishing, diving.

if you didn't like the look of it, you could change the bezel qith DW5600 series.
Hi. I am going to hot spring and might also sauna room this weekend, which G-SHOCK watch is better for those places. I have 5600, 5610, ga2100, mtg and few other G-SHOCK

We are a lot alike in our taste in Gshocks. Look at the white 5600 glide square. I just git it also because I didi not like the one you showed that has all the crazy colors.
I thought about the white square model with the positive LCD but all I could find were used ones with prices starting above $300. But I am very pleased with this 5700 model already.
White ones are hard to find, but will cost $200,-.
My OCD is triggered with that g-lide. A round watch with a square screen- help where's my zanex.

I don’t know of any hack like that. With regular lighting the battery should last at least a decade anyway. I have one which has been going at least 17 years already.
