    My Mom got me hooked on 1940’s movies so much class and none of the trash Hollywood turns out now.

      I grew up watching the movies of the 40s and before so I enjoyed the wonderful time classics and the language and moral code of the movies made a big difference to one that believed that is how it should be in life. Reality check - was disappointed when I recognized movies is one thing and the reality of life seems to barge right in and makes one notice there is a difference and I was sorry that it is. However, one must be in life reality which should make one recognize that being accountable and responsible should matter more than ever.

    Life is so strange. To think that all these amazingly talented, beautiful, glamorous, stylish, famous people are all gone from this world... I can't wrap my mind around it. Such a wonderful movie, I had never heard of it, and besides the leading actress, I had never heard of any of the other artists. The music was delightful. I watched it twice, to take in all the amazing nuances. It's a gem. I am learning to love all things vintage. I so appreciate how innovative and creative people were back then, and such quality and effort were put into everything. into every small detail. What an amazing time that must have been, right after WW2. There was so much hope and idealism. Thank you for uploading this relic of sight, sound, and soul.

    Exactly, shockingly they weren't only beautiful but very smart and spoke so well compared to the actors today. Sad they're all gone😢 but not forgotten. Another thing is these attractive actresses had natural beauty-no botox and no capped teeth.

    • @camillekillam9949
      @camillekillam9949 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes, and how do you think they came to be the greatest generation? My Mom was born in 1924 and she told me that in public school at the beginning of each week the teacher would write a Bible verse on the blackboard and every student had to memorize it by the end of the week. Yes, sir, that's a great way to create a great generation. Folks in America have tried to kick God out of everything everywhere. Look around. We're paying dearly for that horrifically bad decision. May God have mercy on America and may He bring a great revival for the Christians and a great awakening for the unbelievers in America. Unless these two things happen and soon we can kiss America goodbye.

    One very lovely enjoyable film, they don't make them like that anymore. The actors might have passed on, but the film still brightens up the screen to this day. You sure get lost in the film, it was spell bounding and kept you engrossed in the unfolding story line. The trumpet playing and the band were outstanding. You were mesmerized by the songs the singer sung, he sang them so smoothly, it took your breath away. The men were smartly dressed then, which was an added bonus to see a forgotten trend in life today. Maureen O'Hare nicknamed Kitten in the film wore cloths so elegant and stylish they were to die for, what a pity fashion and elegance is not about like that anymore. Everything about the movie was likeable you could watch it again for the entertainment value. It was light hearted and enjoyable the whole way through.

      It's called a side aerial ... when it's backward, it's called a back aerial ... there's a few different versions of the back aerial ... including the back aerial twist - also known as the back corkscrew - and then there's the forward aerial which can be a punch front with a solid landing or a front aerial walk-out.

    • @leelarson107
      @leelarson107 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's at 55:10, not 53:00. If you look carefully, the dancers do almost impossible maneuvers and make it look easy. If I tried that, I'd need surgery.

    That vanity dressing table in the new hoyel suite she just walked into was a knock out blast from the past!! I had a play one as a kid, n my Grandmother had two, ine in her bedroom downstairs n one in her bedroom upstairs, where my sister Linda n I used to sleep every summer for two weeks as a vacation when we were kids. It was a hundred year old house that was chock full of antiques in the country in Michigan, n I would STILL, to this day, love to have another vanity to do my makeup n hair at and keep my supplies on instead of a counter in the bathroom and a cabinet or closet.!!! LOVE the music 🎶 in this movie, always a Harry James fan!!! My Father, RIP, educated me by playing Big Band Music all the time when I was growing up, so I became an aficionado of the style n a singer when I turned 16. WONDERFUL presentation on a December weekend that is t exactly exciting, until I found this!!! Thank you for posting!!!

I wished I was born during the early 20s so I would have been part of the WW2 time effort and where there was so much going on and the band music was at its heights. Loved that time due to so much of many classic actors, inventors and writers of our time. Naturally our beloved President Franklin D. Rosevelt too.

      Maybe a little Brokeback Mountain. Perhaps you should stick to current culturally Marxist selections.

    -- Cute, and I love the voice of Dick Haymes and the trumpet of Harry James.
    Too bad O'Hara couldn't sing and couldn't dance, the film appears wobbly.
    Thanks anyhow for the discovery.

    How did Harry James get so lucky to have so much screen time? Oh ya, he was married to Betty Grable, the gal in the taxi. Lol!

    What a great movie, fun story to watch! Thanks for posting! Maureen O'Hara has the same beauty and allure as Rita Hayworth. I had no idea of this movie existing until seeing your post. What makes this film interesting is the Technicolor, the fashion that is so 1940s and glamorous, the set designs, the great acting, dance, music of Harry James, a good script. Some parts are so sugary but that is what makes the Golden Age of Hollywood so "sweet"! Just subscribed - keep posting more hidden gems!

    Wow, colour...that's fun to find in a 40s film. And no way Maureen ever looked frumpy; she was still gorgeous in her prim clothes...
