God, I love these movies. They take one into a fantasy world utterly devoid of harsh reality. There is tragedy, but it always has meaning. The joy is such JOY, especially in these harsh, tragic, cynical times. Keep them coming.
Right? Same here. Love these classics. As another eloquently stated, these movies are a wonderful distraction from so much cynicism & the Chaos Culture of today. Well, I added about Chaos Culture, bc it's too true. At least in our own homes, our world of peace, we can enjoy these classics. Paz be with us all & Feliz Navideño Christmas season 🙏. "Sra Isa" 2024....
cary grant could do anything cary grant could do. he's in a different film from the other actors! so bad he's funny, if shouting is all there is to acting, then he deserves the oscar, embarrassing, a phoney.
Yes. There were decades when movies weren't shown with slaves, or any blackface. Grant's style here reminded me of the movie 1776 & the personality of Lee of the first family of Virginia. The House of Burgess was well presented here.
The loud voices are grueling. Stealing from the King, OMG. Matt is an idiot. And I hate his screaming. He treats his little boy differently because his foot is a little bent . So far I am not impressed with him. Not acting, just screaming.

Cary in this role didn't really work for me. Total miscaste. No emotion.
Apparently in 1940, as in 1775 ish, there was still no thought of slaves as people who should be free as well.

Sadly, slaves were present in the 1770's. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Sra Isa"
Cary can’t get a consistent accent.
