None of us truly understood the power music has to transport us back in time, sitting here as a 52 year old man this takes me back to my times in high school.
In 1988 my son Greg was front row at a Hall & Oates concert at the Syracuse, NY fairgrounds. Daryl reached out & touched my son's hand. When he told me, I cried because Daryl Hall was his idol. That was in August. The next year in May, my son died; I like that his idol was Daryl Hall.
+Linda Stevens Sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this very touching memory; it will live on forever. I'm sure your son is smiling down on his mom right now. The car's driver was keeping on driving while bending down to pick up her dropped CB radio, taking her eyes off the road just long enough...
Yh, lol, for sure.. I also listen to the beach boys, brian was also a genius when it comes to weird chord progressions.. especially on songs like ' wouldn't it be nice'
I saw them open for Electric Light Orchestra when this came out (81? 82?). G.E. Smith took off across the stage for his solo and stepped on his cable, unplugging his guitar. He looked down at the cable, pointed to his guitar, looked at the crowd and shrugged his shoulders, plugged back in and started right on the downbeat when the rhythm section came back to that part. Amazing musicianship from the whole band.

Ah!!! 80's - A decade where you could express yourself and your music freely. True talent. Just amazing!!!
I remember listening to this song on the radio as a kid, when my dad took me on camping trips. This song connects me to those memorable times.
+tree.house Thank you for your words of condolence.
+Jason Allen Thank you for your condolences.
+Linda Stevens what the fuck...if you don't mind me asking - you don't have to answer - but how did your son leave this mortal coil?
+edbo10 He had just gotten off work, was still in his work clothes, he drove his friend & ex-fiance's brother to a nearby convenience store, then got back on his motorcycle (about 8:50 pm) & started for town & was pushed nearly off the road by a car that sheared off his left arm & damaged him so badly that even though he was wearing his helmet, he didn't live long. The car's driver was keeping on driving while bending down to pick up her dropped CB radio, taking her eyes off the road just long enough...

That chord structure & melody is UNREAL!! I came here from "she's gone"..
Yeah they made one badass paradigm shift going into the 80's sound wise didn't they😎😎😎
Yh, lol, for sure.. I also listen to the beach boys, brian was also a genius when it comes to weird chord progressions.. especially on songs like ' wouldn't it be nice'
Great song/band. I'm a big Beach Boys fan too. Guess I found the right crowd here :D Nik Kershaw also have some creative chord progressions :)
superviewer lol, for sure, Nik Kershaw? hmm..I'll check it out
I saw them open for Electric Light Orchestra when this came out (81? 82?).

@@AmanplayaZ the record wasn't released until September of '81. By that time, they weren't opening for *anyone*.
What a group. ELO thanks
Didn't he play with Dylan at one point?
When "Mtv" was the ONLY music video station...this on repeat 💯
You forgot Vh1. They were around almost as long as MTV.
Not in NY. We didn't have MTV till way after this song. Not till late 80's. We had Friday Night videos and if you missed it you were out of luck.
Bought the cassette to this album in '82 and played "Private Eyes" on repeat probably 35-40 times in a row.
That’s how it was for me with Foreigner & Urgent!
1982: greatest hits of the year!
2022: this song never dies! Gotta forever love Hall and Oates!
“Private eyes clap are watching you” never gets old
🎵They're watching you.🎵
WATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOUWATCHINGYOU
More like private eyes clap. They're watching you. Clap. laser.
You’re literally watching the video and still got it wrong, comical
This is the dance version of "Every Breath You Take."
Good from start to finish. It's amazing how musicians of that time put everything into a song. Could really sing and play.
@Johnoatesmusic.__ Glad to be here.
These dudes had THE sound!!! Pop perfection. Catchiest tunes in the 80's! Hall & Oates ruled. Blue eyed soul & the most successful duo ever.
These two were just golden when it came to the catchy hooks, great musicianship and vocals.
thanks
Blue eyed soul.

Man, the bass player must be having the time of his life...
+Derek Trollingstone He does smile at the end.
+Derek Trollingstone That's my dude right there, I was so intrigueed by him, so cool.
He's the only one that could pass as actually playing the instrument correctly vs making it flashy and nice for video. Lol
That's true.
+Derek Trollingstone That's T-Bone Wolk. He's no longer with us.
Super exitaso, private eyes (ojos observadores) de DARYL HALL AND JOHN OATES, me encanta esta cancion. Gran voz de Daryl Hall and John Oates, siempre me da animo esta cancion

This song takes me back to my first year in the Army. This song was on the radio 24-7, coast to coast that Summer. Ishmael you are now a man.
Even in the 80's this was extremely 80's.
lol, haha ikr,
80s? says 2015?
this song is from the 80s, but their youtube channel only posted it last year
I'm sure it was, lol. It's from 1981, I heard it as a kid in like 89-90 when I was 6 and didn't know it was (a little bit) old already!
Well if it was posted to youtube in 2015 that must be when it came out right?
GAD DAMN! The SOUNDS of MY LIFE! I'll NEVER tire of these quintessential classics!
Proverbs 15:3
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
I love how this song is romantic and creepy at the same time.
What about "Eye in the Sky" by Alan Parsons?
Daryl hall and John Oates is awesome and precious and I love all of their songs and music and I love them both too very much they will always be my favorite singers and musicians I can never get enough of them and their songs and music too love, always Tina leger
Makes me feel the need to lok behind me! Lol
@@deni0.0.7 look rather than lok [spellcheck]
right .omg.ur being stalked by a talented singer.
In reality what Wolk was doing just standing there, he was just countering the energetic moves from Daryl with a dose of lethargy!
Came out in 1981 and still was a great humming song in the late 80s and early '90s during my college years. Now people in college don't know what they're missing.
AS A TEENAGER IN 2023, I WILL TRY NY BEST TO NOT LET THE 80'S DIE! I LOVE THE 80'S AND FOR SOME REASON IT BRING BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES, EVEN IF I WASNT EXISTING IN THE TIME. LONG LIVE THE 80'S!!!
SAME IM ALSO IN MY TEENS AND I AGREE ALSO SUCH A TRUE PFP 💃💃
I was a 80s kid,born 79.
Same here
Same here buddy
As teenagers in the 80s, we welcome you with open arms (actually that was a Journey song. If you haven't heard it yet, look it up, give it a listen then thank me later). 🎶
Whenever I find out that (yet another) hit song I grew up hearing was Hall & Oates, I discover that the song always came out like five years earlier than I thought. Maneater sounded like such a “1987 tune” and I assumed Out of a Touch was for sure from 1988. Amazing. Their sound was always that little bit ahead of its time, but definitely stuck in the 80’s and, MAN, am I sooo thankful for that. Best decade for music by a million miles.
One of the most brilliant songs from the best decade for music. What talent
I wish they still made music like this, it's a forgotten era, lord I sure do miss the 80's,best music, best t.v. shows, best of everything!!!!
I love their music to this day.
