Working as a Senior Developer and heavily providing consulting on Tableau, I can agree with everything you said. Although I love(immensely) the UI of Tableau, most client requirements nowadays are too complex to achieve with just Tableau directly. Seeing PowerBI grow, I’m sure it’ll take over the Tableau market over time. Tableau has stopped innovating since relationships were launched. Cyclic relations active/ inactive relationships are not possible in Tableau to date. I hope Salesforce focuses more on the product. Because it is one of the oldest visualisation tools, it already has customer trust and a ready market. But if they can’t grow as fast as PowerBI, Tableau will soon run out of trend.

very few Indian company understand the true potential of Tableau, infact the price point becomes such an important deciding factor that they opt for power BI without understanding their underlying data management. I have worked with companies who opted for power BI simply because the desktop version was free and then while implementing power BI they realized that they have to pay for publishing it

I have tried both of the tools and God knows I love Tableau, but in my resume I have to mention Power BI. Companies love power BI free desktop version. They don't want to spend money on tools. I got rejected from an interview as my portfolio contains much more Tableau viz rather than Power BI. Now I have make more power BI projects 😭
