It would make more sense if you test this OS on a Ally, Legion Go or the other windows based handhelds instead of the steam deck because the Steam Deck already got its own Linux base known as SteamOS. Basically the main reason why it would actually make more sense to test this on a Windows based handheld instead of the Steam Deck and you can compare Windows 11 to CachyOS.
Not true. While SteamOS is indeed Arch Linux, it's using frozen packages that are often very outdated, including the kernel and MESA, meaning performance improvements take a while to get to the device. Plus, it's entirely based around Flatpaks, which add overhead to desktop mode apps and might be undesirable to a lot of users.
@@DevilishTay Battery is better while Steam Deck is in idle. Battery during gaming is slightly better but not the best. Gaming: I get like 3-5 extra fps.
@@froggyman_ Have you noticed games complaining about VRAM on CachyOS? I'm playing GoW Ragnarok and on SteamOS it sees 8GBs of VRAM (the maximum the Deck will allocate for the GPU) but on CachyOS it complains and only sees 5.89 GBs. After the complaint it works fine, but some games might struggle if this is actually true.
