@KillerCam1020 I did that on the original steam deck I had steamos and windows. I don't think I can fully step into steam until they allow PUBG lol. It's the only game I really play. Now I have the legion go but I haven't even really played too much on it
Nope. Being Able to easily switch between Steam, Xbox, Emulators, and Windows functionality trumps the convenience features for me. However, the Legion Go would be FAR better served with 24GB of RAM, as 16GB for system and VRAM on a Windows Install is lackluster.
I just got my Legion Go last Thursday and i must say, this device is amazing. For me it is a multi purpose device. It is a gaming handheld, powerful tablet pc and an extension for any existing desktop pc. What i currently do is play games that are easy to run locally on the device and everything else i simply stream of my main gaming rig which allows me to play any steam game at 120 fps on this device. Streaming a game works surprisingly well and i can highly recommend it.
I run my LLGO in win 10 mini, and I use it only as game-cloned-synced device for my current PC Gamer ATX, so if I want to play with friends or in traveling now I can. I feel tablet mode it's not practical and I use iPhone and iPad, or Android phone to do web searching and transfer ROMS, or mods to my games with local send, anyway this new data gets mirrored to my PC with Syncthing, the only thing that is difficult it's to convert the LLGo from a Windows Machine to a multi console: steam app, Epic store, Emudeck, Bluestacks and the Syncthing workflow.
I was just running RDR2 with half ultra, half medium settings, on 1200p res. It was hitting a solid 60fps. This system is an absolute beast. I grew up in the late 80s and 90s so the ability to play AAA PC titles on any handheld device, much less it running anything higher than the lowest settings, is a dream of a 90s child we thought we wouldn't see until our elder years. I cannot, and will not, complain.
The updates and improvements since this system came out are incredible i haven't used it in months and was pleasantly surprised at all the improvements
Something that make steamos more performant than windows on steam deck, is that valve hire peoples to work on AMD GPU Driver, the Kernel, and other linux stuff, So they can optimise all the software for steam deck, others handheld still rely on microsoft/AMD to optimise drivers for handheld they are not selling. With bazite you rely on optimisations made for steam deck (so with different hardware), and community.
I have dropped Bazzite in favor of CachyOS Handheld edition. The Arch linux core offers standardized approach for trouble shooting as all Arch linux OS are the same. Bazzite is too special and quirky for you to fix something that doesnt work.
@@KillerCam1020 definitely recommended. Check their wiki and cachyos documentation . It in deep explanation of the optimization done to the system to achieve that 10 percent performance uplift in cpu and draw call in ray tracing.
Well out of all the games I play the performance difference between the two isn't as noticeable, however I still need windows for certain anti cheat games so it's still necessary. It's more for ease of use for me. I also auto launch steam in big picture mode on windows so it's similar to steam os.
So I just got a legion go! I’ve always been a Mac user for my filmmaking and photography career. I am new to gaming when it comes to PC play. Of course I have a Xbox series X but rarely play it because it’s stationary. If you were me would you keep the Legion Go(haven’t opened yet) OR get a steam deck(because ROG Ally is out of budget). I love NBA 2K etc but I don’t care to try new and different games if I can’t play them on steam. I just want a simple experience and Legion doesn’t seem simple. lol however watching this video I could have both worlds
I have Steamdeck and a Go. I mainly just use the Go now. I did have to get some grips for the Go, because it was not as comfortable to hold, but they were only $20 and fixed that problem. I mainly only use the Go now, that i have Bazzite and only sometimes load into Windows to do other stuff. My Steamdeck is collecting dust. The larger screen and better GPU keep me on the Go.

I love my switch but wish it had more power for Hogwarts legacy etc and I know me if windows is to complicated I won’t even deal with it(I’ve always been a Mac guy for my creative career) so after much research and advice for a person like me a steam deck is more ideal! I use Razer Cortex to close background apps on my LeGo or i stream my main gaming PC or PS5 on the Go. Parsec for PC or PXplay for the PS5. With a fasz wlan connection it works flawless.
On both the steam deck and legion go I install win10 ghost specter and Razer cortex. It brings the ram usage to 2.5Gb where win11 on legion go was using 9Gb just sitting at the desktop. So lot more free ram for games to run.
I have had the go for 2 months. 1 month windows and now 1 only bazzite. Windows was fine but I hated how badly handled lenovo has maintained drivers. There latest graphic drivers are from April (and there china exclusive at the moment and released this month December). Side loading newer drivers just caused legion space to brick....so I lost all the handheld features (tpd on the fly control, rgb control, frame rate limits, button remapping etc). At that point my go was basically a fink windows tablet with nerfed joysticks bolted on and a ram hungry OS. Was using over 3.7 and that was despite hours of manually stripping out crap. which meant compromising texture qaulity for most my games like wicher 3 or Cybepunk. given all the above i tried bazzite. Yeah this is why steam like os our popular. The per game tpd limits, frame limits, screen refresh-rate, no driver incompatibility issues. Just turn on straight where i left off + less than 3gb of ram usge (on the steam side, the desktop was above 3 but below 3.7). so i could up textures to medium in games like witcher at 1080p. Sure i do miss out on the newer shovelware AAA but in my books for $70-100 thats a rip off, so i have been enjoying better older stuff + my backlog. tip you can get windows restoration key from lenovo if you want to reinstall windows or clean start a newer ssd.
This is why I don't want a windows Xbox if rather have a console that has all the PC storefronts in a console form, it doesn't necessarily mean it has to have windows
With SteamOS you cannot: Use lossless scaling AFMF2 Play certain games Not sure if you can enter desktop mode. Others: Linux based Overall not that flexible Only good for gaming only
waiting for the ACTUAL SteamOS to come out bazzite is pretty slow on the updates and is much buggier than SteamOS and games requires much more workarounds and scripts to run over the actual SteamOS
Avoid doing this-it results in poor performance unless you have AFMF2 (which only works with mods) or it's integrated into the game. If you're into repacks, it can be frustrating to launch a game just to find a compatible Proton or Wine prefix. Instead, stick with Playnite with windows 11 and keep your drivers up-to-date for the best performance. While the UI may look appealing, don't let the hype mislead you.
Bro I know Linux is lagging behind in gaming compared to Windows (Mainly due to DRM and Kernel anti-cheats)but as far as desktop activities it has it beat by a longshot
If anyone gets a legon go or ally will always need a keyboard and mouse even with steam os unless the steam deck it self, windows become a problem when is not ui controller friendly
I have all 3 systems, never once did I feel the "always need" to connect a mouse or keyboard to play or do pretty much anything on the Deck, Ally, or Go. As of now the only use I personally use for k/m is eXoDOS, which you probably have no clue exists. Navigating early 80's games is heavily keyboard oriented, yet that's just for convenience for me as I've played using the built in keyboard thru Space Quest 1 on flight to Hawaii and worked wonderfully. That's totally because I wanted to play that obscure old Gen X game, something barely any handheld gamers today are worried about bothering with, ya know, old sucky graphics and all. Then again I'm not your average Gen X'er though because afterwards I fired up Yakuza and played through my next mission. UI controller is friendly on all 3, no issues on any from day 1.
No way this is better. It’s just a tricycle with training wheels for people who don’t know how to use windows. Windows destroys this beginners mode stuff. if you know how to use it. But if you don’t, well, that’s too bad for you. Life goes on.
