📺 VIDEO DESCRIPTION- In this video I travel to the American southwest Arizona near a small town called Wickenburg. I find a spot on some state trust land public land to boondocks / dry camp in my remodeled truck camper. The weather is so nice, no snowy blizzard winter camping here!! I decide to have a cheat weekend from my diet and fry up some fired chicken and mashed potatoes in the cast iron dutch oven!! I end the night by roasting some marshmallows by the campfire and begin to feel sick. By the next day I feel even worse and regret having a cheat weekend!!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well dear. We had some stuff about like that here including the stomach upset. Rest, Vitamin C, Magnesium Malate should help. You're doing good on your chicken, not too hot grease, the chicken will cook on the outside raw on the inside. Grease not warm enough the chicken will cook but it may soak up grease. Cover it when you're cooking- holds the heat in. I have been reading reports of campers, mostly lone campers and women being attacked at night. They report that they saw one or more drive by, on quads or SXS what is considered a little to close to the camp, during the day. Be aware. Arizona is an open carry state- you know the rest 😉 Mason is so precious, I totally get not feeding him something from someone you don't know, we live in a crazy world. You two are in my prayers, enjoyed slowing down a while to watch your video. Stay safe and GOD bless
As a lone woman camper I take 2 pewpews . A 4:10 for critters and a 38 for 2 legged critters . I had one guy that was just creepy as he was walking up to my camp I laid my little one in my lap. He ask if I was looking for trouble. I said no I would handle any problem I had. Now before anyone comes at me I am well trained in firearms and self defense. I served in the military and in my 60plus years I recognize creeps. I am vigilant about my surroundings and if I feel threatened I don’t hesitate to leave.

I had a bad experience the last time I tent camped. Dude rode into our campsite on his bike scoping out our stuff. Then he came back after we went to sleep and tried stealing my icechest from the bed of my truck. He didn’t get far though. He heard a “click “ and ran off.
I hope that guy learned his lesson 🤣

Agreed, when we use to take the quads out I would cringe every time we drove the roads and passed other people's camp sites even if they were hundreds of feet off the road I always felt my quad was so loud like a chainsaw. I would throttle down and wait as long as I could before accelerating again. But to turn around in someone's camp is over the top, they must be the kind of person that would walk into the bathroom when someone else is taking a squat

I watch you and Kenny every week. I'm 64 years old and have been camping hunting exploring the woods most my life. One thing I've discovered is that there a lot of bad humans out there with warped values. Unfortunately they hang with each other and sometimes it seems like the world has gone mad with rude idiots. I believe that they are the minority they just make to big of an impact with their ignorance. Stay above the ignorance.

Sometimes I pier fish and people will come and stand 6 inches away from me and cast their line in right next to mine. I think a little courtesy would be nice, respecting other people's boundaries.

We camped somewhere outside of Wickenburg once. Spring of 2017, I think. I hadn’t had Teddy yet. Looks like same area you were near. We had quite the memorable experience 😂 We were set up on a hill, nice sunset view. Then there’s target practice going on down behind us. At first I thought pretty cool. I was a competitive rifle shooter in high school. Then, however 😂, it got scary. Folks fighting and threatening to shoot each other. Cops got called but took over an hour before they arrived. It was an interesting night and if we had another exit out besides past the gang of folks having the dispute, we’d have left. Love that your first “mail” was for Mason! Have a blessed week!
Yikes that sounds scary!! There are plenty of sketchy people in that area but I haven’t had any issues like what you guys had yet!! I probably won’t be going back there anytime soon tho 😂
You do you and don’t worry about those who don’t understand. I have been doing ketovore lately and I feel horrible when I don’t get enough electrolytes or when I have too much carbs and/or sugar. It throws everything off. Keep plugging away. Just restart and drink some electrolytes to help feel better.

Hey Larry, great video. I was out at Glamis a couple of weeks ago for the first time I do not have a buggy but I have friends who have all the toys and if you don’t have one, you’re not getting out on the sand, but I was there for the food. It was very busy And crowded.

Hi Larry, that chicken and potatoes looked tasty! I just drove past Glamis a week ago on my way somewhere, there was a big event there, tons of toy haulers and sand vehicles... i didn't get the appeal, it looked like it may be ok for half an hour, but then.... idk just endless sand...no vegetation or cool views...i guess i like your campsites better, go for a ride, check out an area thats too rough for the camper...oh and i dont know if youre used to altitude so this might be dumb but wickenburg is about 2700 ft i think....its enough that i can feel headachy etc...thank you for being you and showing us your travels. It was great meeting you at the rally.

Tactical parking... maybe you should have claimed the entire camping spot to keep the others out? Taking just a sliver of space maybe let them think the open area was a turn around spot? I know, every spot is a challenge to figure out what "might" happen if others are around. Digital thermometer is your friend so you know when your food is cooked and safe to eat. I don't like the dunes... sand gets into everything (had to rebuild two quad carbs because of sand...), but, a lot of people like it. Mason is a champ and good to see him enjoying just being a dog peeing on everything. Hope you don't get the crud and are feeling better. Ohh. oh oh oh! I went to Glamis once but it's too crowded and they have little pits or 3 foot drop offs you can fall into when you're ripping along. I spent my entire time going to Dumont Dunes when I lived out there, ever since I was 6 y/o.. Dumont used to be somewhat unknown but now they have pit toilets so it's a bit more civilized. There are some flatter areas south-south-wed of the huge dunes area that you might be able to get the tracker into. Check it out online!
I've got a sure fire way to fry mashed potatoes. Shred or cube some cheese in them, then add an egg and flour until it looks less liquified but not too dry. You get a real nice crust and texture.
I'm not sure if your oven is an option, but fried chicken is a 2 step process. Fry it for crunchy, just a few minutes. Then bake it. Or chop it into bites. But grease is tough to absorb. You've done really well on your weight loss. Weirdo alert on the bike again!

I've been in that same campground and it's definitely better than near the road where tons of campers are with lots of noise and trashed out campgrounds and gunshots for hours on end sometimes deep into the night.. add the same experience with the dune buggies and people that you walk right by and give them a friendly greeting and all you get back is a dirty look.. all I can say is the more I try to camp around wickenburg I have found it's a fairly creepy place with a lot of loose cannons and inconsiderate people. It also taints my experience of even the nicest day and I find myself getting moody. You're not alone in feeling that way about not understanding how people can behave that way.

You can rent those side by sides instead of buying one. They are expensive toys vs renting once in a while

I see you feel my pain... LOL! That's why I try to get out a little further than the crowd, which is darn near impossible unless you go to the less frequently inhabited spots. The guy on the UTV, the guy on the bike, If they find me it's rare. I know, its not everyone, but it does only take one to mess with my nature vibe... Most people out there are OK, it only takes 1 in your area, It's a numbers game, and you had 2...
Sand Dunes. Go to the Yuma Dunes, There's hard pack parking/camping areas your truck can get in and out of easily. Take the Tracker, it'll do fine. Air the tires way down, probably 10 PSI for the Tracker. Might have to go lower, but I wouldn't drop lower than 5 PSI without beadlocks... The south side of I-8 has some smaller dunes you can practice in. Try to keep vehicle sped up to stay on top of the sand, think of following the contour of the dunes, flow with them. Since you won't be travelling in a straight line, it might be a good idea to pin your camp location on your phone. If you encounter a deep bowl, don't drive straight in and straight out, drive around the bowl until you have elevation in the bowl to make an exit. When you get comfortable over there in the small dunes, try the North side, dunes are smoother but bigger, makes for better dune running. Save Glamis for another trip, unless you stick to the lower dunes near the washes where people camp.
Go on an off weekend (NON HOLIDAY) or on one of their Free admission clean up weekends and help them clean up. Fill a couple bags, as you explore and learn.

Hi Larry! Hope you're feeling better by now. I also struggle with acid reflux (GERD) and take prescribed medications for it. I do need to watch what I eat and mot eat too late. Greasy foods also cause reflux, so it's something you might want to consider not eating too late. I love fried chicken, so yeah... I get it. Lol. Love your videos ❤
Yeah acid reflux (gerd) sucks!! I took prescribed antacids for 15 years and never could never get off them until I gave up carbs and sugar! Now I usually have no issues whatsoever. Unless I cheat and have sweets or carbs 😩 which sucks because carbs are delicious!! Lol

I’m not sure why causes gurd but when I stopped eating carbs and sugar I was able to get off acid reflux meds, but legit the second I have a cheat meal it all comes back to haunt me!! 😆

The oil was too hot for thoroughly cooked fried chicken. You could have pulled the Dutch oven ( which was a great idea!). Off the fire to cool it a bit..the chicken would have cooked more evenly. You did a great job tho! I’m impressed!! 👍

You need some gravy! We used to camp a lot when I was a kid> (65 now) You never went through someone elses camp site. My Dad had these large peices of canvas and we spray painted them up hippie style and he used to hang them around our camp sites just to watch people sneak up and look around them to see who was camping there lol It was fun!

I honestly do eat some fruits, I love berries, and plenty of vegetables. The reason why I rarely cook them in the videos is because when I cook dinner at night, I’m no longer getting solar power and I can’t run my microwave long enough to cook a steamer bag of veggies without killing my batteries. I’m hoping to get that problem resolved shortly. For now I just eat my steamed veggies during the day.

I LUV that little fire pit stove! But with our government's antics creating such a difference in the exchange rate, that little fire pit costs you $60.- in the U.S. and here in Canada, it would cost me just over $96.- including my provincial taxes. And that's with Prime! Chitty, just darn right chitty. 😕
And I don't know how long you waited to go for that run after you ate. But if it was within an hour (give or take), no wonder you are feeling crappy. Carbs do that to me as well. I try not to eat them at all! They just seem to weigh my entire being down and make me so lethargic! Carbs and greasy foods. lol

Shshshshshshsh, , I'm O.C.D. as well. Aaa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha ! I am! I have this saying & I claimed it long before Mike Holmes was om T.V. with his D.I.Y. shows. It is: "If you can't do it right the first time, then don't do it at all!" Granted, I also acknowledge and respect that a person has to try! You aren't going to learn unless you get your hands dirty, dig in and try.
Yeah it’s a little costly but it is stainless steel and has done a great job. I still plan on hanging onto this one until it has nothing left tho 😆

Glamis is a shit show on any big holiday weekend. Mid week any other time is not a problem. The Geo would do fine on sand highway and the small dunes. Air down and keep up your momentum. Only stop at the top of a hill not the bottom. I have taken my full-size 4 door jeep all over the small stuff with ease. My buddy used to have a Geo and he took it all over Dumont dunes so I'm sure you would be fine. Just watch for the drunk crazies as they are everywhere.
