Just brutal to see Miguel Vargas who was touted as one of the funniest people on the Dodgers by teammates during his time up from the minors to just be so dejected and devoid of joy. Just compared the two meme images of him from the Dodgers earlier this year to the one with him sitting there. Such a night and day contrast. I feel for the kid.
I just looked, and he'll be a free agent in... 2030. It's gotta suck so much for him because it seems like he managed to find his way at the plate LA before the trade, posting an OPS+ of 107 despite remaining unlucky in his batted ball luck (BABIP < MLB average, wOBA < xwOBA). CHW will still only get a mid-tier draft position in the first round next year no matter how much they lose this year because of the draft and payroll rules, so they might decide to tank again next year for a better draft pick. Big oof.
I mean, when you're batting .175 lifetime in the majors, you kinda gotta be glad there's a major league team bad enough to take you? Haha, or maybe getting sent down to triple for a good team is better.
@@jnprather Please see my comment above. Vargas has been remarkably unlucky at the plate, and he was actually somewhat decent for a few months this year before getting traded. Besides, which coaching staff do you think would be more likely to help him improve, the Dodgers' staff or that of the White Sox? I suppose the silver lining for him is that he'll probably get more playing time in the majors on the South Side than in LA, so he'll hopefully have a better chance to make himself more successful.

As a Chicago area native, I find this year's White Sox team not to be disappointing or embarrassing. They are DISGRACEFUL! The White Sox chose to field a non-competitive team coming off a year in which they lost 101 games. Their only free agent signings this past offseason were a reclamation project and a guy who didn't have a job as of Opening Day, and this is despite gutting the roster at last year's trade deadline. Nothing but garbage picking and bottom feeding. And Sox fans have no reason to believe that this upcoming offseason will be any different. G.M. Chris Getz was already asked about going after free agents and said the Sox weren't "ready". 2025 is already a write-off.
That’s an insane catch yet Aaron Judge catch robbing a HR got plastered everywhere. It wasn’t close to a catch like this. Aaron is great but this is an incredible play!! Also a dagger into the white Sox
To make things even stranger, Travis Jankowski (who made the catch) was placed on waivers in late August (no team picked him up, so he stayed with the Rangers). It wasn't like a superstar player made the play, but a journeyman who usually sits on the bench most of the game and would nearly be cut thereafter.
I found out this evening that 2 White Sox players collided during their game in Baltimore this evening. Damn, I hurt for this team. To see them continue to lose like this is gut-wrenching.

Of course, Yankees, Red Sox and Philadelphia fans are excellent models of good sportsmanship. One more thing. I said nothing about the fans. I only referred to the team.
As a Giants fan, we've had our fair share of struggles this year, but I can't help but feel awful for the players and fans of the White Sox this year. I really hope something positive can be happen this year or at least the next one
I have a friend who is a White Sox fan, because he's originally from Chicago. He's an Angel fan also, since he lives just minutes from Angel Stadium in Anaheim. So he's suffered twice as much this year.

I get Chicago radio and was listening to a Sox fan explain how he likes watching them lose. Explained it as “they make losing an art form”. Come out every game with a little swagger, score a couple runs, then slowly and beautifully lose the lead. Make a couple of bad plays, give up a few runs, then lose all hope and interest. Capitulate before the starter even comes out.
This year I focused on following the Dodgers due to their talent. I saw Vargas full of energy and hope as he played in the lineup for three months. I have to admit it hurts seeing Varga's expression. "Hearts" for Vargas.
Brutal way to lose is an understatement. That guy with his Sox jersey and his cap on backwards holding his head is just so appropriate for their season.
