    Thanks for posting this. This was only a few days after Oppenheimer met with several other scientists (Richard Tolman, Ernest Lawrence, Arthur Compton, Robert Bacher, Harold Urey, and Frank Spedding) to work out a new approach to secrecy - "declassification." The Committee on Declassification's report was finalized the day after this talk, and given to Groves, and eventually adopted as the declassification system of the Manhattan Engineer District, and later the Atomic Energy Commission, and eventually exported to the rest of the US federal government. Which is just an interesting backdrop for his comments on secrecy in this talk.

    He has a very florid, overly parenthetical manner of speaking. While undeniably learned, it gets a little tedious, quite frankly.

      You may enjoy an upcoming upload: Oppenheimer will be lecturing on Niels Bohr soon! In the Bohr speech, Oppenheimer is somewhat colorful - he even shows his sense of humor, which is rarely seen. So stay tuned!
