In this video Teller was so much kinder to Opie than when we talked briefly about 'Opie' in 1974 (Vietnam was 'semi-concluding' in 74, but divisive anger was still in the air). In Teller's later writings, he went back to less anger as he described 'Opie'. I think Dyson Freeman described Teller perfectly! ... That said, I found Teller to be very entertaining and he was VERY kind to me and the several folks at UCLA during his weekly visit from his main office in the Bay Area... In my firsthand opinion, some of the comments below unfairly describe Teller.
Its so interesting how love of numbers and music go together. Dr. Teller was my father’s boss. My dad and I are both pianists., organists, and flutests. Dad a geophysicist and I am an financial analyst. Thank you for this video.
Fairly hagiographic, as would be expected. Still some interesting details - I'd always read that he'd been in a "car accident" that had resulted in his foot amputation. A car accident would suggest a simple crushing injury with perhaps compound fracture, but the reality of the STREETcar incident causing it is vastly more gruesome. Do you have any videos from the 70s or 80s on longwave attempts at laser fusion at LANL, eg. Helios?
its so weird seeing teller, yknow, like, mr. h-bomb himself, just being a sweet old man. look at his little hawaiian button-up. how can u hate this guy.
Teller could be the villain in a movie. What he did to Oppenheimer was criminal, and his "ends justifies the means" attitude towards so many things put the world in danger.
Oppenheimer Leftist sympathies gave the Russians the bomb. He could have stopped it if he didn't evade the fact that Communist spies, whom he had ample reason to mistrust, gave the Russians the bomb. Oppenheimer proved that his judgment could not be trusted.

Thanks for tuning-in. I will keep my eyes peeled for publicly releasable films pertaining to laser fusion.

Pretty easily considering his actions
A great scientist and pioneer in the development of atomic theory. Thanks for posting...

Quite the opposite. Teller was right, nuclear weapons brought an unprecedented era of peace in history
Agreed, Teller was a terrible person
